I've recently replaced the power steering pulleys and belts. Now when i turn car, it makes a clunking /clicking noise and sometimes the power steering tugs back a bit. 2010 camry.
View 3 RepliesOur 2012 Prius with now 17,000 miles in 8 months has developed a clunking noise when turning the steering wheel, especially far to the right at low speeds.
The first time the dealer identified it as a failed intermediate shaft and replaced it under warranty. Shortly after we told them it was starting to make the noise again, but they claimed they couldn't replicate the sound and anything they heard was normal 'linkage' (whatever that is). Shortly thereafter the clunking progressed so we took it in for now the third time, and they confirmed the problem, spoke with Toyota who said we must have had a bad part, and replaced it again.
I have 2016 camry 4 cyl have roughly 2300 miles and I'm noticing a click click while turning the steering wheel left or right while stationary and vehicle running sounds like it's coming from under the dash.
I've seen there is a tsb for other year camry intermediate shaft issue, my vehicle is lowered on eibach Springs and would hate to take back to dealer and have them blame it on the springs in a vehicle that has only 2,500 miles.
I recently picked up a cpo rx 350 and my steering wheel makes a squishy rubber-rubber friction kinda noise when I turn - especially when I am reversing. Is it common and does it go away?
View 14 RepliesSo my 09' Camry now has 130K KMs on it and for the last few months I've had an issue where when I turn the steering wheel (at rest and while moving) there is a clunking sound and feel in the steering wheel at various spots in the steering wheel rotation.
I'm worried the u-joints (if it uses them) in the steering column are worn out and might need replacing/lubricating but I'm not sure how to address the issue without an expensive Out of warranty visit to the dealer.
My 2007 Camry makes clunking noises when I turn the steering wheel to the left mostly. This happens most often when the weather is warm and hot but not during the winter time.
The noise seems to come only from around the steering wheel area inside my vehicle. Hence, I don't think it has to do with the CV Joints or anything like that but the steering wheel unit.
I have a 2008 Elantra with 59,000 miles. When it is warm out (70 F+), the sterering wheel makes a binding noise (squeeking noise - it is hard to describe) when turning. It doesn't do this all the time and it is much more noticeable when it is warm out. The temps are usually mild. This is a recent problem as I haven't noticed it before.
Should I be concerned about this? I want to get it checked before the 60,000 mile mark in case this is a serious issue such as rack and pinion steering problems.
My car makes a trouble sound when turning the wheel. It has been to the shop and new steering wheel fluids and a few other adjustments were done. I have a friend his daughters car just started making the same sound. My car has been doing this for months. We both have the same make and year car.
View 4 RepliesI've owned my 14.5 camry se 4 cyl since may and a few weeks into owning it i noticed a pop/clunk coming from the front passenger side while reversing and turning the wheel. So, finally got some free time to take it into the dealer today and dropped it off. Also, when letting off the brakes you can hear like a creaking noise, almost like the brakes are metal to metal but it only happens LETTING OFF the brakes?
My service advisor says supposedly the "creaking" noise when letting off the brakes is normal. I told him i really don't believe that lol and asked to test drive another new camry on the lot which is being arranged for tomorrow. In the meantime he says they're gonna look at it either way.
Front sway bar bushings causing "clicking" noise while turning the steering wheel? Usually happens when I'm moving into or out of a parking spot and while I'm turning my steering wheel. I got the driver side, I believe, lower control arm replaced and after that i started getting a faint clicking noise when I'm turning the steering wheel.
The dealer, after multiple visits, discovered it's the front sway bar bushing causing the noise. They said it's really not worth the cost, since it's isn't a safety issue and the whole sway bar needs to be replace since you can't buy bushings alone. I want to get rid of the noise regardless of safety or not.
When I am sitting at a dead standstill and I turn the wheel lock to lock, left or right, I hear a clicking sound. The clicking is louder inside the car, but I can't tell if it's coming from the steering column or the various linkages in the suspension or drive systems.
If I drive in circles, with the wheel at a constant (or changing) angle, there are no clicks, so I don't think this is a CV joint issue.
What could be causing this noise? I really don't want to take off my lowering springs and restore this thing to the original configuration for a warranty repair visit to the dealership.
If I do, you may see a fire sale of H&R 20mm wheel adapters and B&G lowering springs in the near future.

View 6 RepliesRecently on my gen 6 with about 68k miles I have noticed a very pronounce noise when turning the steering wheel whether the car is stationary or in motion. It makes a loud creaking/popping noise and it cant be heard from outside the car. The noise happens no matter which way I turn the steering wheel. I know Toyota has had problems with their intermediate steering shafts.
View 5 RepliesMy 2010 Honda Odyssey EXL recently began making a whining noise that seems worse when turning the steering wheel. When in the shop for routine maintenance a few weeks ago they noted a leaking power steering suction hose although at the time it was not making any noise. Is this a likely cause? Unsure what it was I tried spraying belt dressing on the serpentine belt and it seemed to work. There was no whining for a couple days. Now it's back.

Some said that it could be that CV joints need to be replaced. I have a video showing the side that is making the sound, maybe there is something abnormal that I don't see.

I have a significant amount of play in my steering wheel, and I notice a clicking/clunking sound in the steering wheel when the steering actually moves the tires. This makes it very hard to drive in a straight line, and that's kind of important when your car is 19 feet long . Is there anything that could be cheaply/easily fixed to remedy this?

I had my passenger side cv axle replaced two months ago 2002 camry xle 110k miles for the ABS broken ring. After that start to here a shuddering intermittent noise from the front of the car more clear on turning the steering wheel, sometimes I here a metal on metal noise on bumps, axle was a brand new one and a press garage pressed the bracket on it..

View 16 RepliesI am getting a click from the steering when rocking the wheel left or right. It is coming from the assembly the intermediate shaft is connected to. I see there is a large bearing on the end where the shaft comes out. I am not sure what this assembly is called. I have had it at the dealer and they said they re-torqued everything but they could not duplicate it.
I do not fall in the range for the recall and I have no problem with the car pulling left so I do not think it has anything to do with the intermediate shaft. It is clearly from the assembly the intermediate shaft is connected to on the steering wheel end of the intermediate shaft. 2011 limited
