Camry :: 2010 - Lip Off Of Oil Filter Housing Broke?
Sep 1, 2013
I have a 2010 Camry and on Friday I got my oil changed at a local shop and while there the guy told me that they broke the lip off of the oil filter housing that I need to get a new one from Toyota before my next oil change. Said not a big deal right now but do before next change. My first mistake was paying for the oil change and not making them replace the housing since they are the ones that broke it. Well that night I drove about 150 miles and the next morning I drove 75 miles my car started making a odd noise when I would accelerate but not while I was just cruising. Then is just died while I was pulling into parking spot. Started it back and died again and just kept dying and not stay started. I check the oil and the stick is bone dry. There is oil all over everything under my car and had to pull it home on a trailer. Obviously the filter leaked all of it out, but my oil light never came on. Question is do you think there is damage to my motor? Do I make the oil changing place replace my motor so if it did damage I don't have to pay for it in a few thousand miles?

This past week my wife and I took a short trip and returned on a gravel road. I went to start my truck the next morning and there was a puddle of diesel fuel on the driveway. When I looked under it, I noticed that the tip of the fuel filter housing is gone and is leaking slowly from there. I called the dealer and they would not fix it on warranty, the truck has 20k on it. The service man said he would not turn this into ford. I've had the similar problems with this particular dealer. It's obvious that a protective cover is needed for this. I kept the part and am thinking of sending it to ford.

I was loading some 2x4's and one hit the rear tail light housing and broke it easily. Hard to believe it broke so easy. Will be picking up a new one at the dealer! Wish it was made out of high impact plastic . You can't just get the clear cover. You have the buy the whole unit.

How to remove the engine air filter you have to unscrew the front and back of the housing? Yeah. So I'm missing the back bolt AND the metal/silver thing that holds it in place. The dealer told me they don't sell the part separately and I'd have to purchase a whole new unit ...
Additionally, the engine air filter housing vibrates heavily. It's not due to the above and what's causing it. It's vibrating so much I'm almost afraid it's going to damage other parts.
This is a 2009 Camry LE 4 cyl.

I was twisting off the DFCM housing when I heard a pop and alot of fuel leaking. It appears I sheared off the 32mm plastic nut. I know for a fact that I was turning it counter clockwise just like the manual stated. Now what do I do? I cant run my SD can I? The simplest solution is to get another housing and install it but im not sure ill be able to get the remnants of the original housing off with out the nut to twist it. I watched Epics video on changing the filter and his came off with little effort? My same story just different result.

I'll be back to post the whole situation if the dealer doesn't make right on what I'm going through right now, but wanted to ask as I didn't find much searching, any issue with a cracked oil filter housing? I took car in for 30k service and came back leaking oil. Apparently part is back ordered and may take weeks. I spoke with ECS tuning and they said they don't have their aluminum filter housing yet for this model.

I am trying to change the oil on my dad's 2012 corolla LE, and this is the first oil change since it's been out of the 25k mile service plan. I ordered the exact 64mm 14 flute wrench and the filter housing WILL NOT unscrew. I have looked at several videos online and I am sure I'm going the right way. I have tried kicking it, hitting it with a rubber mallet... and nothing! My friend has a breaker bar we are gonna try to use in a little while... Is there any history of dealerships sabotaging this kind of thing so you have to bring it back?

I have a coolant leak coming from the area under the oil filter housing where the cooler is. My thought is the little plastic pipe between the cooler and the engine block. I have the alternator removed but am wondering what's next. Can I get to the cooler without dropping the engine?

I bought a used 2006 F150 Lariat 4x4 (5.4L) and discovered that the oil filter and filter housing did not match stock. All web searches return the fram filter ph2 but the truck had the equivalent of ph10575. It was the right filter for the housing so it's not a case of someone putting the wrong filter on the truck. The ph10575 filter is for model years 2010 - 2013. Should I start investigating whether the engine had been replaced or is this normal?

I could smell fuel so I popped the hood to look for a leak. On top of the filter housing cover fuel was puddled in the little nooks and crannies of the black cover and some had leaked over the side into the valley between the heads. Is this a common leak? How in the world did fuel get on top of the cover but not on the hood insulator cover?
Also, just bought this not too long ago and the po said he had just done the fuel filter service on it. The gasket seemed pretty flimsy and weak and didn't really fit the gasket surface. Although I'm used to my cummins powered trucks and they use a o-ring to seal the housing cover. 2001 excursion 7.3

Not sure if there is a post for this, but I could not find one.
I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.

I went to change the small filter that is mounted just behind the radiator and is inline with the 5r100 . with a socket on the bottom all i was able to do was flex the brackets going to the 3 mounting bolts as this thing is on there real good. Looking for examples on unthreading the bottom cup to access filter?

I broke a nipple that a small hose connects to while I was changing my air filter. What this is and possibly some fix-it tips. I attached a couple of pics. one broke and one not broke.

I've got a leak that appears to be coming from the secondary fuel filter housing (the one in the engine compartment)... It's not coming from the filter, but from the side, where there are 4 allen bolts that attach a fitting to the side of the housing...Can I change out the gasket for that piece? I've already tightened the bolts, but the leak persists.

I have a very slow fuel drip off the housing for the fuel filter on the engine. Can't see where it's coming from. It started sometime after I changed the filter a couple of months ago.

So I went out to check the oil this morning and the dipstick has broken off just above the full line. There is still just a bit of plastic attached to the metal part and apparently the rest is down in the pan. How worried should I be about this? Could it clog up the oil pump or pickup tube? I last checked the oil about a week ago, so I'm not sure how many days I've been driving it this way.

I did some searching on here, but couldn't find much. I know, obviously, that adding an HID kit to a halogen housing will result in glare. So, I guess I am asking... how bad is it on a 2013 Camry? I know that the glare in some housings can be EXTREMELY bad, while some are tolerable.
