Sometimes when I start my 2010 camry with the 2.5L, it makes a noise on the top end like there's no oil and the valves are very loud and a second or 2 later it goes away, is this normal....

there is a LOUD squeaking noise coming from my drivers side wheel when driving. When I press the brakes then the noise goes away. I took the wheel off to duplicate the noise by turning the rotors but I couldn't. maybe I couldn't turn it fast enough though. Its not the brake/rotor shield either.
At first it was a slight squeak but now its getting really loud. embarrassing loud. Could the possible issues be calipers, brake shims, cv, axle?
2014 IS350 ... having issues with loud ticking from engine? Sounds like it's coming from the engine valves. Lose valves maybe? My car only has 16k miles. But the ticking is annoying. I cant imagine the valves ticking that loud with such low miles. And it ticks even after warmed up. The oil is within normal range and still looks clean. I'm not due for an oil change for another 2k. (i change the oil every 5k). I am considering switching to sightly higher weight oil for the summer time.

View 5 RepliesMy girlfriend and I just bought a 2011 a few weeks ago. We test drove it a couple times ourselves, and had our mechanic take a look at it and drive it also. Everything looked and sounded good. Not sure how much it matters, but it's a Certified Used as well.
A couple days ago, returning from a 45-minute drive which included some short stretches of gravel road, I noticed an oscillating sound. It's definitely not a noise that was there when we bought the car. Unfortunately, my cell is apparently bad at capturing audio, so hopefully my description will be enough.
The noise is very faint, almost inaudible, at low speeds. Between 30 and 35 mph it gets much louder, peaking at about 33. There's some vibration through the accelerator pedal also. Above 35, it fades pretty quickly and I can't really hear it at 50. The sound itself is 3 beats on, 1 beat off, about every second. There's a slight difference in pitch between each beat.
If that isn't enough to go on, let me know and I'll give the recording another shot and upload it if the noise is audible.

View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 Honda Odyssey with 40K miles. The valves have been making a chattering noise for awhile now. I have tried different brands of gas (highest grade) - no luck. I took the car in to the dealer while it was still under warranty they could not find anything wrong. I took it again lately and they said not to worry. It seems like some sensor is not functioning properly but I could be wrong.

I know it's the A/C Fan because when I turn off the A/C the sound goes away. It makes a weird Zoom sound, but louder than my previous cars and my wife's car.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2011 Sonata SE 2.4 In the last week Ive noticed a noise what sounds like my valves are rattling or maybe even a bad lifter. This only happens when I bring the RPM's up to 2500-3000. Not at idol or normal driving when RPM's are around 2000 or lower. Its getting progressively louder every couple of days. I've ruled out bad gas (I used another station in another city on last fill up ). My oil is changed every 3000-4000 miles with the recommended oil as well.

View 6 RepliesIn my 2007 toyota camry, 4 cyl, W/ 120K miles, I have loud tapping noise while the A/C is on. Noise is only heard when the car is idling or when coming to a stop light. No noise when A/C is off.
Its sounds like the tapping noise is coming from top end of the engine. Engine shakes also while noise is present.
To me it sounds like piston slap which I am going to try to isolate it by running high octan gas. Personally I don't think its piston slap.
Maintenance stuff done: ireduim spark plugs, air/ cabin filter, drive belt, water pump @ 60K, oil change every 5K.
Problem 2: Also is there any fix for Radio AUX noise in speakers beside Toyota TSB on it. Getting electrical noise in the speakers through cellphone when its charging through car power outlet.
2007 Camry LE 4cyl 125XXX miles ... The car sounds horrible at idle, but its not rough/shaky, just loud with a constant "thump, thump, thump" sound. It also whines with RPM increases, not just acceleration, but also while in park or neutral. Took it to Auto Zone and it tested with a bad voltage regulator in the alternator. In the process of calling around to different shops, they all seem puzzled that the alternator is bad, even though I replaced the battery 10 days ago and the battery light still flashes off/on while driving. So, before I go sinking a few hundred bucks into a new alternator, should I be looking at something else?
View 5 RepliesJust recently starting hearing a loud roaring noise while driving my 07 Camry V6 XLE. It sounds like the gears are not shifting, like it is staying in low gear. Sometimes the sound will lessen if I'm driving over 15 mins. and some times it doesn't. RPM is around 2 or less, typically 1.5. Tried to check the transmission fluid but could find the stick. The car has about 142,000 miles. I hope the engine is not going.
View 1 RepliesWe bought our 2010 RX last December--dead of winter--and never noticed this until this week, when the temps are approaching summer, like upper 80s.
The AC (and heater) fan makes a loud droning noise (low frequency, but quite loud) when the "auto" setting turns the fan to one of the two highest settings to cool the car down. Never noticed this until now because the fan never ran at the higher settings in the winter (parked in a heated garage). It makes no difference which vent setting is used, the loud drone from the fan is the same as long as it is running at the higher speeds.
Also, I'm NOT talking about the fans in the seats. This is the big fan behind the dash. Manually decreasing the fan speed reduces the drone, which becomes almost inaudible at lower fan speeds.
I have a 2009 Camry 5Speed Manual and have had a noise and loud thud coming from my steering whenever i turn the wheel when I am accelerating out of first gear when disengaging the clutch and turning the wheel. For example, if I am in a parking lot and am traveling at extremely low speeds and turning the wheel while in first gear I can hear and feel a thud in the steering wheel.

The motor labors pushing the sunroof past vehicle roof. I see no obvious obstruction. The sunroof makes no noise when going to the tilt position. I have tried the initialize process, but the problem persists.

Some information : 2006 Camry 2.4L.
I have removed the belt to verify that the noise is not from any belt-driven components. Using an Engine Ear, it gets louder towards the exhaust manifold, but apart from starting to tear things down.
Problem that developed after our 03 xle got whacked by a Harley in the right front wheel. The repair shop changed out the spindle and wheel but we got it back with a loud humming noise over 40 mph. The shop said it was the axle shaft bearing and not related. I argued and the insurance company reluctantly agreed to replace the shaft,bearing, and housing. Got the car back and again, the same humming only less faint and obviously coming from the trans. Everyone is dodging responsibility and it looks like we are left to sort things out on our own. Figures. This car road perfectly prior to the accident. I can't find any online diagrams of the trans to see what the shaft fits into. Supposedly the shop is holding on to the old shaft, I was going to go and look at the end splines, I believe that's what it has.
