My cousin's camry has a cruise control problem. It's not turning as we press the switch on the steering wheel. There's no light illuminating and we looked around the car for the fuse, which we did not find. I tried calling the dealership and they said there's no fuse for the cruise control for this model. It is built into the ecu. I believe there should be a fuse for it.
View 1 RepliesMy 04 f150 fx4 has some cruise control issues. The cruise doesn't work at all and the self test doesn't do anything on my truck either. I tested the disengage switch which tested good but replaced it anyway. I've checked all brake lights and replaced the 3rd light which was burned out. I've unplugged the brake switch and reconnected in case of loose connection with no luck. I removed the brake switch and tested as follows.
Top to bottom pins 1-6 for sake of this discussion. Pins 1 and 2 no continuity until brake button is pressed. Pins 3 and 4 are blank so no test performed. Pins 5 and 6 tested the same as 1 and 2 so am I correct in saying the switch is good? My truck will shift through all gears and back without ever applying the brakes. Bad shift interlock inside the shift console? I haven't torn into that yet but it's the only thing left I can think of. Is there any tests to be run on it with a multimeter?
I just bought this truck, a 2004 F150 Lariat, 4x4. It is in great shape, but seems to have a problem with the cruise control... I have been reading different things, but one thing I just discovered is that with the key ON, the brake pedal NOT depressed, I can shift the truck into gear. I know that's not right. So am I needing that switch above the brake pedal and will that fix my cruise control as well?
View 11 RepliesI'm working on a 04 F150 Fx4, cruise control is not working at all, but I can't seem to find the cruise module under the hood. I haven't worked on this year before so I'm not familiar with the layout under the hood. Also, is there a brake pressure sensor on the 04 (new style) like there is on the '03 and below style? there isn't one on my master cylinder, so where would it be? Where to look? Why the cruise wouldn't be working?

When I push the set button the little green light in the dash blinks on then off and the cruise won't set. Any way that I can check to see what it might be myself or am I going to have to pay a dealer to fix it?
View 2 RepliesOver the last couple months when I started driving, I noticed that the cruise control wasn't working at all. The next time I would start it was working again. It "stopped" working a few times.
The last time it stopped working was about a week ago, and hasn't worked since. I have read about horn relay fuses, tail light fuses, some sort of module on the engine. Where should I start?
Cruise control not working all of the sudden - This happened to me, and a web search led to a quick solution, would be the first place to check if you have the problem.
Turns out that if the third brake light (back of the cab) goes out, so does the cruise control. Don't know why. I replaced the bulb, and cruise works. I was fortunate that this super cheap fix worked for me. If your cruise control stops turning on, check that cheap little bulb!
The cruise on my 06 F-150 just quit working. No light and can't set it .
View 1 RepliesSo i had a long drive yesterday and i decided to use Cruise Control. I rarely use it, but I have tried it in the past and it worked. So yesterday it didn't work. The light never came on in the dash and it never actually worked. I plan on mentioning it to the dealer when i bring it in next time but i was wondering if there was something i could check for myself. Such as a fuse?
View 24 RepliesThis has happened only once the other night. I was cruising about 50MPH, hit the brakes for a red light, while I was at the red light the Cruise Control light started flashing. The cruise control would not engage at any speed during the flashing stage, and I didn't think it would as a flashing light usually means a malfunction. I went a few miles turned the car off, restarted it and haven't had a problem since. Just chalk this up to a 1 time glitch?

I had a problem about a year ago where my cruise control wasn't working, and found out that a blown brake light fuse was the problem. Now I turn my CC on and the "Cruise" light comes on, I then press the set button, and nothing. I then press the cancel button and then the set button and then the "Set" light comes on.

View 1 RepliesI just recently started having trouble with the cruise control on my 2007 Chevy Malibu.
Last weekend, I went on an 800 mile trip (cruising most of the time) but stopped to have the tires rotated and balanced, and my oil changed halfway through (I was up for an oil change anyway). Got home late Monday, everything was fine. Then Thursday, my cruise control stopped working. The light on the steering wheel comes on to show that it is engaged, but I cannot set the speed.
The owners manual suggested it might be caused by low brake fluid. Checked that, saw it was a little low, maybe a centimeter, and filled it, but the cruise control still doesn't work. Thought maybe it was a fuse, but there wasn't a bad one.
I've seen some talk about it possibly linked to break or a transmission issue. For a few weeks, my Malibu has been making a lawnmower-ish sound when I drive 40 mph or faster. The problem persists whether its in manual or automatic. I didn't notice anything until I got my car back after loaning it to my parents for a weekend.
I bought the car used July 2010 from its first owner with about 37,000 miles. It's about 72,000 now.
Was hoping to get confirmation on a fix I intend to repair.

Cruise isn't working...... lights won't even come on and nothing happens at the switches.
This morning I put in a new airbag clockspring ...... just requires patience but not too hard to do.
That didn't resolve. Was going to put in new cruise switch at the brake master cylinder.
My question is would that part prevent the cruise control from even turning on at the steering wheel controls? I don't get any light or anything when I hit "on".
I checked literally every fuse in the under dash and under hood boxes. All are good. Is it likely it's the cruise switch?
The green light comes on but the cruise control does not engage. It did work one time the other day but usually doesn't. What should I check?
View 2 RepliesMy dad has a 2005 Ford F150 and his airbag light buzzes and flashes. We counted and it flashes 5 times then short pause then 1 flash then long pause and restarts. Also I dont know if it is related but his cruise control doesnt work either.
View 9 Replies2004 Lariat ... My cruise isn't working, won't even come (no light on dash). I tried the self test where you turn the ign on with the E-brake on and try holding the cruise off button to enter some kind of diag mode but it didn't work. I found a video on youtube where a mechanic replaced some pressure switch on the master cyl but my master cyl doesn't have what the video showed. I read somewhere about the 3rd brake light having something to do with it. FWIW, my 3rd brake light does not work.

View 15 RepliesQuestion regarding a 2002 Dodge Dakota, 2wheel drive ext cab 100,000 miles 6 cylinder engine. Cruise control stopped working, get the indicator light on dash, but no cruise.
Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
My 2010 Subaru Outback recently surprised the hell out of me by simultaneously turning on the brake warning light, the traction control light, the check engine light and (just for a bonus!) disabled my cruise control while flashing the cruise control light. I pulled over, quickly surmising that all of those systems could not have failed at 70 MPH without instantaneous death to either me or the vehicle. Both apparently still being alive, I tried turning the car on an off to reset the lights. No go. Subaru was not going to miss this chance to get me to the dealership! (who I had avoided to this point!) As I was far away from home and the car being very healthy, it seemed, I decided to drive on. I proceeded to put a couple of hundred more miles on the car before I got back to town.
My car had 39,000 miles on it, 3,000 miles beyond the warranty end. I learned that I have an error code of P0171, "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Air/Fuel too lean)". So I guess I'm wondering about a few things...why would this sensor set off every light on my dashboard and disable my cruise control? Seems a bit overblown for running a bit lean. My gut tells me Subaru has a sensor/software problem they are not owning up to. I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and this really smells like one...
Second, jeez, I'm only 3K miles over warranty, don't you think they'd cut me some slack. I mean I love my Subaru, or did anyway, until this happened. Now it's just another POS car that breaks for no apparent reason...
Is it plug and play. My cruise control hasn't work. Numbers look right on vag and switches/fuses are all good. So I am left to assume its the stalk.
