Camry :: 2008 V6 - Cannot See Oil Level

Dec 6, 2013

2008 V6 Camry - Read quite a few threads about people not being able to see their oil level. It isn't the usual problem where sanding the dipstick or paper towels or painting it or turning it or better lighting will give me the mark because I have the opposite problem - I can see too much oil showing for some inches above the full level. The oil is coming from the dipstick tube so I cant tell where the true level is.

The car is cold and level. Tried making the dipstick really clean with hot dish detergent, and also tried making it a bit sticky with vicks - nope. Occasionally I can see a small hole in the oil about an eighth above the full line - so I reckon that is the true level. I changed the oil myself so I know it hasn't got 2 gallons in there. Driven it 2k at speed since the oil change and it is perfect.

But is there a better way to make sure that oil in the tube does not get on the dipstick causing the dipstick to show 3 inches overfull ?

IS F (2008-2014) :: Low Engine Oil Level?

I have only had my 08 F for a few months and it is due for an oil change in about 1K. Today the low engine oil light came on, so I checked it and indeed it was just below the low level on the dipstick. The light came on once before while I was parked on an extreme grade, and the oil level was fine. I have no evidence of any leaks. This doesn't seem as though it would be normal. By the way it took about 1/2 qt to bring it back to normal levels.

Camry :: Why Wipe And Reinsertion Is Necessary For Level To Be Accurate

According to the manual, I should wait some time to let oil settle, then take the dipstick out, wipe it, reinsert it, then take it out and then check level. Why the wipe and reinsertion is necessary for the level to be accurate?

Camry :: Drain And Fill Transmission - Oil Level

Firstly I have a I4 2007 Camry LE with 102,000km.

I just did a drain a fill on the transmission [I didn't check the level before draining, but i should have]. While draining I did measure how much fluid came out and it was roughly under 3 Liters.

I refilled exactly 3 Liters. Checked the level and it was above the HOT mark. I though i filled up too much but after driving the car for 10-15 mins i brought it back on full level ground, ran it through the gears and checked the fluid level, the level dropped down to the COOL reading.

To be certain i left the car on level ground all night, checked in the morning and sure enough the level jumped back to above the HOT mark on the dipstick.

I have checked every day since the change and every-time I check the level when warm it shows around the COOL marking on the dipstick. Does this mean that my oil level is low?

This is the first drain and fill i did on the car, and as I mentioned i replaced the exact amount that came out.

Camry 2012+ :: Low Level Rumbling Noise At 45 Mph Or Up?

2013 Camry SE. I hit a curb pretty hard on the right side. Dealer replaced both tires and wheels and lower control arms on the right front. $2,400. Now I notice a low level rumbling starting at 45MPH or up. Very little change in the noise as speed increases.

I'm wondering if they missed a damaged bearing that is causing this noise? I had the dealer test drive it and they can't seem to hear it.

Megane - Coupe :: 2008 - Oil Level Low After Parking On Hill

My car has just had a 66 point service and I bought a full bottle of fully Synthetic oil for the garage to use to save costs. All was fine, I have just parked the car on a very steep hill so the car was tipped to the right hand side for about 7 or 8 minutes. I came back and when I started the car it said Oil level low, now I'm sure it would say this due to the engine being tilted but it never went off for about 2 miles and until I turned ignition off. Nothing would leak out would it?? I'm tempted to put more in the engine but don't want to over fill it if the garage have done it already? (I have a Renault megane coupe 2008)

IS F (2008-2014) :: Oil Level Higher When Engine Cool?

So I changed my oil today and added about 9.8 - 9.9 quarts. There was just a little left in the second 5 quart jug. I carefully added some oil while checking the dip stick frequently. I made sure the level was just at (maybe a hair above) the top dot on the dip stick. After that, I went out for a spirited drive.

Now 4 hours later, when the car is relatively cool, I checked the level again. However, the level is now significantly higher than before. It's definitely past the top dot, not by a lot, but definitely more than before.

Camry :: 2009 V6 - How To Determine Level On Dipstick When Checking Oil

When checking the oil I am having difficulties determing the level. It is difficult to determine an actual line of the oil level. Oil is smeared above the dimples of the dipstick. I know it is not two inches above the top dimple. I have two other vehicles in the family and it is very easy to tell the level. After driving how long should I wait for the oil to settle into the pan? How to determine the level on the dipstick. A friend of mine to said to check to see if the lower dimple is filled with oil.

I have a 2004 Camry LE with 126,000 Miles , on the past couple of oil changes I have noticing when I look at the oil level on my Oil change 3000 Date due , I see it is at the lowest oil level mark which means it needs at least 3 qts. This was not the case before . I have tried Lucas engine oil. I am positive no drips or leaks coming out from the engine as ground is always clean and my mechanic told me he is not noticing any leakage at from the bottom .

The "stop!" check level! alarm sounded as I was parked last evening...

Where to look under the hood for loose or broken clamps or hoses that may be the culprit. Which hoses (color?) are the ones to check?

Toyoyta - RAV4 :: 2008 - Air Condition Super Blow At Level 4?

We have a 2008 Rav4 whose warranty expires tomorrow, 8/9/11. My wife thinks that on hot days, the air conditioning, when set on the highest level 4, will go into a "super-blow" state about 15 to 30 seconds after the knob is turned, and remain at the increased flow until the car cools. Then it quiets back to "normal". She told me a few days ago that she's not hearing the increased flow anymore at level 4 and thinks there's now something wrong with the car. She always has it on recirculate, so I know it's not caused by shifting to recirc. Does the Rav4 is even supposed to have this feature. It may be hard to get it into the shop tomorrow.

Camry 2012+ :: Windshield Washer Reservoir Fluid Max Level

I just picked up a 2014.5 Camry (my 1st Toyota) and how full the windshield washer reservoir should be at max level. Now hear me out before you fall off your chair from hysterical laughter, if I fill up the reservoir up to the lid like every other car I have owned, after a short drive it will go down and be below the filler neck, clear down under the fender even though I haven't sprayed the washer fluid.

I haven't seen any fluid dripping but I believe I have a leak. Sounds pretty cut and dry but I'm asking just incase Toyota has a weird fill level on the washer reservoir.

Camry :: 2007 - Reading Tranny Fluid Level With Dipstick

I am checking the tranny fluid level in my daughter's 2007 4 cyl Camry tomorrow.

This tranny has the dipstick and each time we try to check the fluid level with the dip stick we are not sure if we are getting a good reading or not.

What's the trick to it. Should the tranny fluid be at a certain temp before checking? I don't have the manual with me so I'm trying to find the procedure.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: A/C Blows Cold Air At Bi-level Only At Chest Level

I noticed yesterday while driving the RX (not my daily driver) that when I turned on the A/C to bi-level (chest & feet) it only blew cold air at the chest level while at the feet level it was warm air. If I remember correctly from the past that the feet got cold too so I tried it with the vents only at the feet, still warm air. I even checked to make sure that I didn't have it on bi-level with defroster in use.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: How To Replace Brake Fluid Level Sensor

Just bought a 2007 supercab with the 5.4 in nice shape, but have an intermittent brake light on the dash. (No ABS, just the brake light.) Our mech. diagnosed a bad Brake Fluid Level switch. I can get a new sensor. I'd like to try and replace this myself and save a lot of money if it's not too difficult.

I'm looking for some clear step-by-step directions on doing this, and have a couple of questions:

Do I need to disconnect the battery first?

Do I need to empty the brake fluid reservoir? (Looks like the sensor is in the bottom of the reservoir, if I take it out without draining res, will I have a mess?)

When looking up the sensor online, I also saw the plug/connector for sale, should I replace that as well?

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Power Steering Fluid Level Keeps Dropping

I bought an 04 F150 SCrew 5.4 3V a while back. The power steering fluid level keeps dropping. I have topped off the power steering reservoir at least 3 times in the last month and a half.

What's got me baffled is I can't find evidence of a leak anywhere. The hoses, the pump, or on the belt. I've crawled over & under it. I can't find anything anywhere.

Camry :: 08 / Power Steering Fluid Level Was At Upper Line For Hot About 3 Hours?

I recently was looking over fluids and whatnot in my 08 Camry, and the power steering fluid level was at the upper line for hot about 3 hours after I drove it (about 7pm). Checked again at noon the next day, still didn't budge. I know this is something fairly new, earlier in the year it was normal. The steering feels a little tough too. It might be me, I've been driving a 2011 Sienna with the EPS, but I don't remember it being this resistant.

Now the car has over 43k on it, and it recently had the water pump replaced about two months ago put in the the dealer (I noticed this, not the dealer), along with front struts and an oil change. Nothing mentioned about the Power Steering or anything, but it seems abnormally high. I am not sure if any of the PS lines had to be removed to do the job (water pump or struts), but if it was, it seems that it might have not been properly bleed. I did try turning to full lock a few times, to the point where the revs drop and it squeals a little (not sure if that is a pump issue either, not the drop in revs but the noise)

I am just trying to figure out why I have a high level of fluid now, and the power steering feels a little weak.
