I just purchased a 2007 Toyota Hybrid in excellent condition except for a sticky dashboard. All the posts I have read said Toyota is aware but doing nothing about it. There are products advertised like Sticky No More but I am afraid to use it yet. The bright glare from the dash is a safety hazzard and I have notified NTSB about this to see if a recall may eventually be enacted..

Car seems to run ok - battery has good voltage Alternator seems to work - discontented and clean the battery - checked all fuses....
I have a 2007 camry LE with 60,000 miles. About 600 miles prior to the next due oil change, I started seeing a flashing oil pan sign on the left corner of the dashboard while braking (only while braking).
I did not figure out the reason and might have run another 100 miles before taken to the dealer. Dealer found no oil on dipstick. He says the engine might be burning oil and I might end up spending few thousand dollars in that case. He gave me a list of things to do for $1200 unrelated to the incident (break pads etc). I declined and got the oil changed.
He asked me to bring the car back in after 500 miles to check if the oil stays. There has been no leak. Now I have driven 150 miles and the maintenance required sign comes up. I have three questions:
(1) Can this maintenance required sign be related to the incident or related to the regular oil change schedule
(2) Could I have damaged my engine? If so, how to find out
(3) Why could the engine oil run out before the next scheduled maintenance?
Is it possible the technician might have not filled it up? (yesterday I checked the oil level (after 150 miles) and the level is well above the max needed).

View 14 RepliesMy 2000 Camry --4 cyc has a problem with the shift lever on hot days. It is hard to move from P to R to N to D and the other way back to P. There has never been any liquid spill on it. In cold days, the lever shifts fine.
View 2 RepliesThe trunk button on the back of my 07 ls460l seems to have "melted" in the South Florida heat. It is now a stcky black patch that feels gross when opening the trunk. I'm gonna have it looked at/replaced soon.
View 14 RepliesOk so I had this creaking noise at first when I press n depress the gas pedal (how normal driving should be) and I sprayed some WD40 and now the noise is gone, but it becomes kind of sticky when pressing and depressing.
It's like when u rub ur finger on a glass window back and forth, there is time when it catches ur finger (sticks) before u can move it the opposite way, it's not smooth as it used to be (my other camrys are smooth).
When pressing a little, then a little more, it has that sticky feel, same thing when depressing the pedal. That's the best I can explain it and it is really noticeable when I'm stuck in traffic.
Do u think I have a bad pedal or some white lithium grease will take care of this?
2001 Camry 4 cylinder 86000 miles. I lubricated the springs, mechanism, and cables under the hood and under the dashboard.Gas pedal is only sticky sometimes, usually when pulling away from a red light where the engine speed drops to idle for a couple minutes. Idle is smooth, no check engine light.Any tricks or tips to fix it? Problem started maybe 2 weeks ago. We have had nice warm weather so I don't think it's weather related. All parts are clean and rust-free.
View 11 RepliesThis morning I had to jump my LS 460, the battery was dead because a light was left on. When I jumped and All of the lights on the dashboard came on. Once the car started they stayed on. I put it in park and tried restarting it but to no avail.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 600hl. It showed Hybrid system failure and I took it to the dealer last week. They said that the hybrid system charges well but the issue seems to be 12V battery. I got the car back and drove for 1 day, it stopped again at a major red light. This was a dead stop on Friday 5 pm peak hour traffic. My little daughter was sitting behind and so many cars came close to hitting us which made me mad at Lexus. Luckily I called cops and then they gave protection till it was towed.
All dashboard lights got on and it would show the following:
- Check Hybrid System
- Check Brake System
- Check VSC
Check Hybrid System is mainly a cell or module failure. If they at the dealership were able to charge the Hybrid System, does it mean it was working? Their health check showed 75%
- Since the car stopped abruptly at a stop light, if we were hit from behind, does Lexus/dealership have any liability? My major issue was that my daughter sitting behind does not get hurt.
After rain my SF indicators in dashboard become crazy. Engine check, 4wd, reductor, TC stayed on when i start engine. Engine working is no good. I unplugged battery for 5 sec, and after that all is ok until next rain. If there is only one light on i know than there is a problem but 5 of them it looks like shortcut on some point.

Question: does this mean i have to replace the so called freon? or replace it? or is my entire unit trashed?
Kind of a strange thing happening. No prior work done on the car either. The morning was like any other morning. Car started up fine and the world was at peace. Drove to work and everything was awesome. I go to leave work after my shift and I notice that I have no shift indicator lights on the dashboard. Very odd, but I disregard it. No big deal. I also try to turn my cruise control on. The light for it turns on, but nothing happens.
Finished my shift at work. Drove home, and did some investigating. The reverse lights don't turn on as well, and the car doesn't start in neutral. I did some research on here and found that a neutral safety switch was a pretty popular part to fail to give no lights on the dash. So I worked up the courage to replace it with a BWD unit. Replacing the switch did nothing. Unplugged and replugged wires under the shifter, inspected a bit..... Nothing.
So what would be the next step? My car doesn't start in any gear besides park, Cruise control doesn't work, Reverse light doesn't work, Neutral safety switch as been replaced, And I guess that's it for the moment.
I have a 2007 Prius with 145,000 miles.
We drove for an hour and a half. No problems on the way there. When we left there, there were no dashboard lights. The screen worked fine. So did the headlights and turn signals. But, no speedo or other dashboard lights. I wasn't worried. I figured we blew a fuse so I am going to check in a few minutes.
But when we got home, I couldn't turn the car off. I pressed the On/Off button many times and nothing. I tried putting the key fob in the socket, and hit the button and it shut off.
I bought an 07 for my dad one owner with 89000 miles on it and all the records it's has been less than 2 years and now 125000 miles
The dashboard is cracking, electrical issues, last time was a 700 bill to replace one of the computers, now the key remote doesn't work at all, and yes I changed the battery it is normal because the mileage and age on this cars.
2007 Passat Wagon 2.0T automatic. We found an extra key in the car after we bought it and saved it, thinking we could use it as a spare. Of course, we rather foolishly never tried it. Last night, my wife tried the key and it is now stuck in the key slot. The message center on the dash is giving a warning that the car is now immobilized, and it won't give back the key! I called VW roadside assistance, and they refuse to touch it - insisting it be towed to a dealer.
Unfortunately, the first two tow trucks they they dispatched couldn't tow the car. The car is stuck in Park, nose-in to the garage, and the steering wheel locked. Roadside assistance now says they need to dispatch a truck with "skates" which allow it to be put on a flatbed.
What else I could do to remove the key? I tried removing the battery power for five minutes, but it still won't give back the key.
2005 Camry SE 4cyl 5 speed stick. 126k miles bought new well maintained with a minimum of problems. In the last couple of weeks a funny type of rattle has developed in the right dash area. Sounds like a snapping noise when I go over certain types of road imperfections. Almost like a loose small light bulb socket inside hitting something. Tried it with the glove box open no change. Can't see anything wrong behind the glove box where you change the cabin filter. No recent change in any control operation or electrical issues concerning the dash area.

Are there any other auto lights that I need to know about? This is a Camry hybrid.
Last week, my 2002 V6 Camry decided it didn't want to start when the key was turned. That was with my wife driving. By the time I got out there, the car was running just fine. She said it didn't turn over, didn't click, nothing.
Today, it did it again, but it didn't have that magic reawakening like it had last week. I tried jumping it to see if it was the battery, but it did not change anything.
Here's what happens: Turn key to run position, and the dashboard lights up.
Turn key to start position, and there's silence. The clock on the dash turns off (as normal), but the only noise under the hood is the sound of the starter relay making a single click.
Does that mean the next place to look is the starter Solenoid? Can I jump the solenoid like on an old car to see if that starts her up?
Recently I have faced a new issue with my car. Sometimes and not always when I try to start my car, it does not. The lights on the dash board appears initially but once the car does not start they go off.
I then go and use my keys to hit the negative terminal of the battery. Once I do it for a couple of times(hit the terminal with key for about 10-15 times). All lights come up on and then I can start the car.
-- The terminal is not corroded.
-- The terminal does not look loose.
-- The battery has been checked and is GOOD
