View 4 RepliesI bought a 2002 Camry with a burnt engine one it for a project. I put a 2005 Camry engine on it, and changed ecm, ignition switch, dash harness and the harness that goes from the ecm down to the rest of the engine parts( transmission and sensors and such) all from a 2005 model. But I didn't change the other wiring that goes along the fire wall. We first tried to start the car I wont start at all. No even crank.
Checked spark = good
Checked fuel pressure = no fuel pressure.
But when I use the ecm from the 2002 I have fuel but not spark. So I open the the fuel relay and manually closed it, then the car starts and runs but zero throttle. My question is: do I have to take it to toyota to get it reprogrammed or there there is something else I can do before that.
My wife's 07 Camry cranks then immediately dies. I tried to crank it again and it want even start at all.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 solara 3.3L. I bought this car about 4 months ago and it was running fine. Couple weeks ago I try to start the car and it would crank but won't start. I checked the fuel rails it was getting but somehow not starting... What can be the problem?
View 1 RepliesMy '07 Solara w/40k miles has a burned out tail-light (LED). It had moisture built up in it and probably caused it. I opened the hood to check to see if any fuses might be involved (didn't remove any) and the car wouldn't start after that. It cranks nicely, but acts as if it isn't getting any fuel.
Previously this happened to me and it turned out to be the battery (even though it cranked well). So, I replaced the battery with the one from my other car - no go, so we've eliminated the battery.
Took my voltmeter and I have 12.6 or so at the battery. The tail-lights have around 11.91 volts. Pulled the fuel pump wiring and again, I have 11.91 volts. Hooked a 12v lamp to it and the lamp won't come on, which leads me to a short somewhere?? (I have unplugged the LED tail-light).
Wife called me this evening saying she's stuck at work. She was parked in a parking garage on the 3rd level, she started the car up, coming down the ramps of the garage and on the first floor at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled out on her. She went to restart it, but it will not turn over. I come out and tried to start it with no luck. I did notice on the positive side of the battery terminal there was a lot of corrosive discharge. I cleaned that all up, but still no luck. Everything has power, bright interior lights and headlights okay. I originally thought it was just cold or lean... But still won't kick over.
View 11 RepliesMy camry used to crank a couple of seconds longer and then take. Yesterday it died just after starting and wont start. It cranks. Checked and found fuse 15 in eng comp blown. Changed it and blew again. Check fuel pump, it seems to work when momentarily apply power to it. The engine management light does not come on when swithing ignition on any more as well. The airbag light also does not come on since this as well. Was wondering if ecu is gone bad?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2005 SE 3.3L engine with 115000Miles,
When you turn the ignition key , you have to wait for it to crank 6-7 times before it starts. whether engine is cold or warm it makes no difference.
I was wondering how your engines ( 3.3Ls) behave, does that start immediately after 1-2 cranks, or it is normal for this type of engines to take 6-7 turns ?
I have a 09 camry 2.4. I have a problem with it starting about 5 times a year. It will start and shut back off and just keep doing this or just crank over. Then if we let it sit for about 15 minutes it will start and be fine for months. It's been doing this about 2 years. It has about 104,000 miles on it and there has never been any lights come on like the check engine light.
View 2 Replies2007 6.0 my dash lights will flicker when the key is turned on and the truck wil crank but won't start, but when the lights stop flickering truck starts .. How to fix the flickering dash light?
View 2 Replies2007 Ranger 4.0.... Initial start of the day it cranks a bit longer than it should. After warm, it starts fine.
View 1 Replies2000 7.3 Excursion. Truck ran fine on a 5 hour trip for family vacation. Pulled and to where we were going turn the truck off then what I had to do I came outside try to restart the truck for the next three days it would take 2 to 3 cranks before it was would start. Then on day number three tried six times and didn't start went to bed woke up the next morning and it took three cranks to start. drove it down to mechanic shop near me they have been troubleshooting and think it's an electrical issue the code is P1280; he said there were a couple other codes too and he would tell me what they were later but he never has. I took him a new CPS a new ICM and a new PCM, none of that fixed it. I am at my wits end here and really have to have my truck for work every day.
View 12 Replies2007 6.0l cranks but no start. Read all the forums and I think I performed all the checks. Getting a ficm/ cam sensor/crank sensor no sync. I'm also getting 84.70% at the ipr while cranking. Do I have multiple problems? Watched videos on either the ficm or ipr percentage but not one that had both problems. Getting injector clatter and fuel pump runs. Didn't see anything obvious with the harness.

View 14 RepliesWent out to start my truck this morning and it wouldn't start. Cranks fine and almost started once but died. Checked all fuses all my voltages are good. Oil and coolant are good. When I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump and sounds like it's priming correctly. Might be an issue with a clogged fuel filter? Maybe? Haven't had any problems or issues otherwise.
View 6 RepliesMy 07 Camry, 2.4 decided one morning not to start. Was fine when parked. I have changed the fuel pump and replaced the spark plugs and still nothing. Where to look next. It does turn over so I assumed it was either fuel or spark.
View 3 RepliesMy wife's 2007 4-cylinder Camry has 174,000 miles and has been a great car. Recently however the car has become harder to start. The engine cranks fine but it either starts right up or it will just crank. I've learned that if it doesn't start normally, I stop cranking and try to start again. Sometimes it takes up to 4 attempts then it starts normally. It seems like it either gets the fuel and starts correctly or it's not getting fuel and cannot start.
View 14 RepliesI received a remote start for xmas and I'm usually pretty handy, but I've hit a wall today. I've got it responding to the code and turning the car on but it doesn't spin the starter. I've checked the hood switch by holding it down while hitting the code and it doesn't appear to be prohibiting starting.

Here's the Main Power Harness and my connections:
Red, Red + White -> Black: Constant 12v
Violet -> Blue: Starter
Pink -> Yellow: Ignition
Pink + White -> Pink: Ignition 2
What would be keeping it from cranking the starter?
I have a 2007 Camry XLE 6cylinder...131000 miles on it.
I have just begun to notice that when I begin driving off with the vehicle at night, the headlights flash once. All 4 headlight lamps have been changed once and 2 of them have been changed twice in the past 8 months. I just replaced the high beam on the driver's side about 6 weeks ago, and now that same bulb is gone again.
The garage has done all the changes except the last one which I replaced with a Sylvania 9005 bulb. It is behind the battery which was a pain to change. This time I will remove the battery hopefully. I changed it myself because the last time I took it to the dealership, that 1 bulb change was $32.00! BTW...it still has the original battery in it.
What could be causing these bulbs to go? and the one time flashing? If I remove the battery, and then change the bulb, is there anything I need to do after reconnecting the battery? I am not a mechanic...does it make any difference which post I remove first on the battery?
Have a few questions about remote start for the Camry. I have a 2007 Toyota camry SE (6/2006) model. I'm interested in doing an OEM remote start set up. I've gone to the toyota dealership before and i inquired about remote start and they stated there wasn't any for the 2007's but i see YouTube videos and ECU's on ebay that indicate otherwise. Now if i were to do remote start. Could i just purchase the Ecu and i guess get someone to install it and then use my 4 button fob to sync it? or is there more work to it than that or my car will only work with a certain ECU.
View 3 RepliesMy Dad owns a 2007 Camry SE with the 2.4 l4 engine. Occasionally most of the time in heat it is sometimes hesitant to start. It will start always on the first try but sometimes the key has to be held longer to get it started mostly though in the summer when its hot out. For example he parks a little after six in the morning at work. He don't get in the car until 5 to 5:30 in the evening. You know then it has been in the heat a while. He says it rarely happens. He also said it's not like a slow crank if something had been left on to drain the battery. It's just the key has to sometimes be held longer than normal for it to start. It's not very likely but this has happened once or twice in the winter time also.
I know the car does still have the original battery. It starts fine in the winter when cold. This hard start deal happened a few weeks ago after work also. I know out of the other toyota's he has had they have done this every once in a while to. I really myself don't think it is anything to worry about. I am just asking what might cause it to do that sometime. I would say nearly 98% percent of the time though it will start normal. This has kinda always happened since we got the car used in March 2010. I hadn't thought about much though since it rarley happens cause most of the time as I said above it will start normal.
