Just today AC started blowing air rapidly from the vents when I didn't have the AC on. The AC continued to run even after I had turned off the engine and took out the key. In fear of my battery dying I unplugged it but as soon as I plugged it back in to drive home from work it was the same thing. Where should I start?!
View 4 RepliesSo yesterday I drove my car to my friend's place, which is 6 miles away. Before the trip, the battery internal temperature (BT2) is around 80 F, with battery level 52%. After I arrived in my friend's place, BT2 is around 95F. I parked the car under the sun. Atmosphere temperature was around 80F outside. The battery level around that time was 65% (7 pips)
Three hours later, when I was leaving my friend's place, the BT2 was 114F! It was still like 80 F for atmosphere temperature.
While driving recently I experienced what felt like continued acceleration when I applied the brake. It was only a fleeting moment, but was scary nonetheless.
View 2 RepliesThe other day I went to turn off my vehicle and it continued running even when key is in off position. I took the key out and it still continued running. I had to disconnect the battery and turn key in on position for vehicle to stall. I do not want to buy any unnecessary parts nor do I want to take apart any unnecessary components.

View 3 RepliesI was driving my 90 Jeep Cherokee (automatic transmission) last night on the freeway when I suddenly lost power. The engine continued to idle (but roughly) but pressing the accelerator did not result in any increase in engine speed or vehicle speed. The car came to a stop on the off-ramp but I was able to restart it and limp along at idle speed for another few blocks until it came to a stop.
I suspected I may have run out of gas, despite the fuel indicator showing a quarter of a tank but after adding 2 gallons of gas to the tank it wouldn't start. It sounded like it wanted to but it wouldn't start.
I love this car- i just bought it , but it has one problem i cant figure out .The high beams didn't work at all -till my mechanic figured the prior owner took out the two fuses - now they stay on all the time - even when the car is turned off . My guess is the light switch - my mechanic said it is probably more than that...

All of a sudden today when I turned my car on I noticed a high pitched whirling noise, similar to a tornado siren that gets louder as I accelerated in my parking garage. Even when I turned the car off and on and it sat in park I still noticed it and it got louder as I press on the accelerator. I haven't driven over 20 mph since I noticed this so I'm not sure if it still does it at fast speeds.
View 1 RepliesToday I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 model, new body style Sierra wt, that has a 4.3 v6, it has 62000. miles, and it has been giving me a (enjine hot a/c turned off warning) and will not let the ac work,
This problem is not a true over heating issue and is happening intermittently, even on a cold start it will sometimes give me this error message and when this is happening it will not register the temp on the gauge, but will activate the electric fans.
I am thinking this is a short at some point or a loose connector but where to look.
I am puzzled with the engine light on again other times this happened it turned out to be freshair sensor ,then years later when it came on again it was gas cap and evaporator canister now its on now so i reset cap and its still on haven,t checked for codes but what could it be this time its a 2005 camry xle V6 with 125000 miles we are the original owners when the freshair sensor went we were on warranty i also forgot to mention when they replaced the sensor they replaced the catalytic converter too because the first replacement sensor was bad out of the box and they just left the converter in.

A few days ago, I noticed when I switched my headlights on auto, the car radio turned off. When I turned the knob from the auto light position to the to headlights, the radio comes on again and and goes off if I keep switching back and forth until it eventually stays on regardless of what position the knob is at.
What is even a stranger, yesterday, I started my car and turned the auto lights on, switched it to the headlights, and the radio turned off, but I also noticed that engine lost power (?). It didn't completely shut off, but it was noticeable when I was going back and forth between the light switches.
I bought this used Camry 2010 LE 4 Cylinder with 38k miles on it. Right now I have 42k miles on it.
The issue I have is whenever I turn off the engine and then turn it on. The moment I put it on drive and accelerate I hear a clapping sound. It sounds like clap noise when I just turn on the engine and accelerate. It only makes that noise when i start the engine and accelerate and after that the sound is gone
When I leave the car overnight, and drive it the next morning. The sound is louder with a clap sound right after i accelerate. It happens every time i turn off the engine and turn on and drive but it doesn't sound as loud when i leave it for overnight. It still makes the sound but not as loud.
Sometimes you feel it clap on your foot when you accelerate.
Problem just started last night when I turned the defroster on. Now the engine cuts off when the air is turned on at lower speed/rpms.
View 4 RepliesI have a Hyundai Elantra 2007 with 123,000 miles on it. Three weeks ago the engine About two weeks ago the engine light turned on. I took it into an auto parts store so they could use the digital code reader, it said the upstream O2 sensor needed to be replaced. I replace it and still have bad gas mileage, the second time I had it read with the code read it said both of the O2 sensors were bad so I replaced the downstream one week later. There was still bad gas mileage and the code reader still said it was both of the O2 sensors, the auto part's representative said when the engine light is on that the computer turns off the O2 sensors so he recommended to erase the codes on my car with the code reader (I pushed the button and he looked away). Still nothing changed so I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery to restart the computer. Still horrible gas mileage with no engine light anymore. Gas mileage averages about 15 mpgs in city and 32-35 on the highway. The highway seems about right but I've never seen any mpg below 30 for city mpg before this problem. I also cleaned the mass air flow sensor with mass air flow cleaner after dealing with the O2 sensor. All preventive maintenance is kept up by me and I have had no problems with this car before. Water pump replacement, timing belt replacement, and transmission flush have occurred in the last ~50,000 miles.

I noticed my engine light turned on. I went to Autozone to hook the car up to the computer. The computer printed out the code P0420. My coolant temp is normal. What can this code mean. The car has over 126,000 miles.
Got a limited service campaign letter for right front seat sensor problem causing the AIR BAG OFF indicator to illuminate. Apparently certain conditions can turn on the Air Bag Off indicator. Question is, will the indicator turn off when the engine is turned off and restarted? Or once it is tripped it stays on whenever the ignition is on?
This car is turning into a pain, having to take it to the dealer for too many problems. Tempted to do nothing about this latest campaign, unless the light stays on.
My 2003 Toyota Camry LE has been running fine. Recently I parked the car somewhere for about 5 minutes and when I returned the car would not start, i.e. when I turned the key in the ignition the engine would not engage. I called the tow truck. The tow truck driver takes a look and tells me that she can hear the engine trying to kick in. She thinks the battery is fine, the alternator is fine etc. etc. So she pops the hood, takes a long metal rod, places it on the starter and gives it a couple of gentle taps. Then she asks me to start the car. I do and it works. She tells me that the starter was stuck and that what she did freed it up.
The car runs okay now but I am concerned as to whether this could be a sign of things to come. Should I take my car in the get the starter looked at or maybe replaced? The dealer says that a new starter will run me 350 bucks but also said that I don't need to come in unless it happens again. What does the community think? Do I have a problem or was it a one off thing that I can ignore for now? And I don't know if its important or not but the weather here has been starting to get colder lately. Could that be responsible in any way? I have about 81000 miles on this car.
About 3 weeks ago my car,a 2007 saturn vue 6cyc., started making banging noises in the glove box when I start the car. The noise last for about 10 seconds and is very loud. The car runs great, no problems.

View 51 Replies2003 camry 2.4 ... This is what is happening, cooling fans will not come on except when the AC is turned on and they will stop working when the AC is turned off, otherwise the car will over heat.
This is what I have done...Replaced the fans (because the radiator fan was bad, after hooking them up directly to the battery). I checked all the grounds, including the one under the intake, checked the fuses, checked relays using 12vots to the relay and used a ohm meter to see if it made contact when activated, on the three fan relays. Replaced and tested the new radiator sensor using a pot of water on the cooking stove with a cooking temperature gauge and ohm meter. It tested ok.
Unplug the radiator sensor while the car is running, the fans will come on, but go off as soon as it is plug back in, even when the motor is over heating. Also replaced the thermostat.
What can I do next, before I burn the motor up trying to fix it? Motor just started running rough. Just now pulled up a code of the number three cylinder miss firing
