Camry :: 2006 Toyota - Sloshing Noise From Fully Filled Fuel Tank When Stop The Car
Apr 4, 2012
When I stop the car, sloshing noise come from back of 2006 Toyota Camry after filling full tank of gas. Tried couple times, I can still hear the noise feels like liquid sloshing noise coming from fuel tank. Even after I parked the car, tried to push the back side of my 2006 Toyota Camry, sounds like the fuel is sloshing from the tank. Is it normal? I never heard about this before, maybe I didn't notice. It was not loud but audible.

I had my gas tank replaced recently and upon replacing the tank, I now notice a sloshing sound when I stop my car. It sounds like I took a gallon milk jug and turned it over completely to pour everything out- glug glug glug. It seems to be coming from the fuel tank and the car rocks back and forth a lot. Also had work done on the struts at the same time. What is the cause of this and is it safe to operate? Is it reasonable to ask the mechanic to fix it? Is it possible that the wrong tank was put on my car? I've checked for information about this particular issue but have not seen any solution about this problem when it is resulting from a replaced part.

I drive a 1989 Toyota Camry LE with a V6 Engine. When I fill my gas tank, start the car, the fuel gauge pointer doesn't go completely into the "F" mark, see picture; I'll even wait after driving a few miles if the pointer will try to go past the "F" mark, but it won't. Could it be the gauge be faulty or the sending unit in the gas tank that's causing the gauge to read inaccurately?

I have a 1998 Toyota Rav 4 with apporximately 140,000 miles. When I fill the gas tank the check engine light comes on, the engine runs rough (like a misfire). Diagnostic code comes back a "lean mixture, bank 1". When the tank reaches approximately 3/4 of a tank the light goes out and the engine runs smooth and fine. Then, when the tank reaches just belwo hal a tank the light once again comes on and starts running rough again. Have drained the tank, used dry gas, Startron to counter the ethonal etc. Nothing seems to work.

I thought nothing of this before and just chalked it up to being at a gas station and the cold weather. But this is my 3rd fillup with this car and every single time i've smelled gas.
i just filled up my tank tonight and there was a gas smell, which went away after a couple of miles driving. Should i be worried? I mean smelling gas is never a good thing. Car is 2011 camry v6, 36k miles on it.
some have said its overfilling of gas, but i let off once it clicks and do not keep filling. Bought it used so not sure if previous owner liked to "top" it off.
is there anything i can check, i.e. fuel lines under car seats?

Is there an easy way to drain all the gas out of the gas tank of a 2009 Toyota Camry Sedan, LE automatic transmission. Is there a drain plug or anything like that? I've never done anything like this so I'm hoping there is a relatively easy way to do it.

Hearing a sloshing scraping thumping sound coming from their 36 gallon tank under hard braking accelerating? It's loudest when the tank is between 200 and 150 miles to empty, I checked the spare tire and its tight, haven't had a chance to crawl under and look around yet though, I think something inside came loose. 2013 XLT.

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry XLE 4 cylinder. I made a mess today, filled 13 galleons of Diesel in my gasoline Camry. It ran fine for 5 mins and then stopped.
I am planning to drain the fuel tank. I see one i hope fuel line in the hood which I plan to open using a wrench and drain the Fuel tank. Is that right?
Also do I need to do any other things immediately? I was thinking may be I will change fuel filter also.

My 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R (bought in Feb ’11, and has 4k miles) has already had several issues in its short life. In just the past week I've noticed a sloshing noise coming from the gas tank. I first heard the noise when I was backing out of my driveway. I also notice the sloshing sound whenever I go over a bump or come to a quick stop. To determine where exactly the noise was coming from, I parked the car, turned off the engine and I pushed on the rear bumper to make the car move up and down. After doing this I determined that the noise is definitely coming from the gas tank.
Is it normal to hear gas sloshing around in the gas tank when driving? Could there be something wrong with the gas tank?

I have a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5. Every time I fill up the car all the way, i have this problem with it. i go to start the car and it wont start, i hear the engine turning, but it wont start, but if i wait for 5 mins and then try to start, it starts up and I don't have any issues with it after that.. If i fill up my car a little bit , i don't have this problem. only when i fill up the tank all the way, it gives me this trouble. What is going on and what is wrong with the car?

I recently recognized a clicking noise from the passenger door when I open it half way or even fully.
up to now I'm still assuming its a lubing issue as it is really cold in here Ottawa, Canada.
I have read a thread that was talking about the same issue and the guy found that there was a bolt wasn't tighten enough from the factory that caused the clicking sound.

I have a 2006 Town and Country with the 3.3L V6. The last four times I filled the gas tank the engine spits and sputters after running for 2 - 3 minutes. Sometimes it will even stall out. It will re-start after cranking for 4 - 5 seconds and then runs fine. It only does this right after I fill the tank and doesn't do it again until the next fill up. Thought that I might have water in the tank so I added a bottle of HEET to see if it would cure the problem, no effect at all..

Okay, so I've been hearing this strange sloshing noise in my Jeep Liberty 2005. It happens when I start off from a stop and usually around 15mph. It seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle (engine). And I'm not the only one that has heard it so I'm not crazy.

In my 2012 Passat TDI I get a pretty loud fuel sloshing noise from the back. The dealership confirmed the sound exists in other 2012 Passat TDIs as well. This sound is at it's loudest when the diesel tank is about 1/2 to 3/4 full; it makes loud thuds (diesel sloshing sounds).
The service manager says that is a design flaw and VW does not have a solution for it right now. He says may be if enough people complain they will come up with a solution.
Initially we thought this was AdBlue but it was confirmed as a fuel noise as the noise varies at dfferent levels of fuel in the tank.
I know I can crank up the radio and not hear the noise but I don't always want to do that. I am just bummed that there would be such a big oversite from VW on a car that is suppose to be their comeback in USA.
My car is a TDI 6 speed manual trans. Does the SEL owners also have this noise? Does the gas engine owners also have this noise?

Me and my fiancee have a 2013 Camry SE and we've been having issues with our fuel gauge... It randomly will just stop working... First time it happened she just got in the car from work and it was at empty. When she got to work it was at half a tank... It took about 20-25 minutes of driving for it to slowly reach back to half a tank.... What could/would cause this malfunction?? And then today on her way to work it did the same thing..

Actually, anything more than a half tank of gas will produce a sloshing sound. it's most notice able at low speeds, i.e. going over a speed bump. Also, when in D at idle speed, then hit the breaks, I hear a thud then all the sloshing of the gas. The dealer just told me this is normal. I didn't hear it before the gas tank recall.

2003 toyota Camry. when coming to a stop and hitting brakes there is a poping sound. It almost sounds like metal hitting each other. What is this or causing this!?!? Also it is a 4cylinder automatic with 100000miles.

My car makes a weird noise/feel when I stop at lights or when we are going very slowly-- its like some motor inside is spinning weirdly-- off kilter-like. This only happens when in drive or reverse; when in neutral and I rev the engine, it doesn't happen. This used to happen only when I drove for long times (3 hours maybe)--and I often could "fix" this by just letting the car rest for half and hour. Now it is happening just after 40 mins of driving. My car is a 99 Toyota V6 Camry.

Only had my 07 GS350 AWD for about a week now, and i kept hearing water sloshing around the floor boards. Did some searching on her and the interwebs and found the HVAC evaporator drain blockage TSB. So.... this was step one in getting it handled. I don't think its been wet for too long, only because there is zero musty smell or mildew. I yanked the front carpets back, and parked nose forward on my steep driveway, sopped up 5 full bath towels worth of water, cranked the heat and put fans on it. Boom, cleanup, done!

Car is 2006 SWB 3.0 Tdi.
I've recently noticed a sloshing noise coming from the rear passenger door - I would estimate between 1 and 2 litres in there! I can't find any other post with these faults, so I've a couple of questions.
Firstly, I'm guessing the ingress is from the seals at the bottom of the window. I can't find a procedure to replace them...
Secondly, how to get the water out... It seems the water will be trapped in there - there's no natural way for the water to escape. If so, I'm tempted to drill a hole to let it escape.
Where would be best to drill the hole? Where water ingress is likely to accumulate?

So I filled up my tank tonight and started off home when the car started shuddering, not bad but shuddering and the CEL came on and blinked so I pulled over and shut the car off, waited a minute or two then turned it on, everything was fine and after a little longer the CEL turned off but turned back on again after 30 or so miles. The car is still running fine.
Do you think its the evap emissions valve? My wife said it shuddered a little when she filled up last week as well. Or it might be the coils? I have a warranty so its going in tomorrow anyway but I am going to drive it to work and drop it off.
