Car's an '05 SE 4 cyl. Camry. The silicone strip on the passenger's side door chrome trim is coming off, and I was wondering what my options are for fixing this? Can I somehow push it back into place and have it stay there? Is it torn or simply coming off? Is it purely aesthetic or does it serve any other purpose?
View 14 RepliesI was away from the Phaeton for 2 weeks and managed to let the battery run down to totally dead (left Radar detector on). Started her up on the secondary battery and everything seemed fine, but, a few days later, I had occasion to put down the drivers window - no joy. Tried the passengers window - again no joy. The rear windows were fine. When I try to operate the window I hear a short sound like the window is starting to open, but nothing happens and the glass does not move. Because it is so unlikely that both front windows would fail simultaneously, I suspect a controller may need to be reset. Is there any way to trouble shoot this without a VAG COM?

View 2 RepliesI have the car door apart, how to remove the panel on my camry. I got all the way to where I have to remove the outside handle to completely take out the part that has the actuator built in. Everything is all good until I got to this part. How to finish getting the handle off so the part that goes into the electrical mechanism where the actuator can be removed is done. I got the mechanism basically hanging there. I got the two bolts to what I thought was holding the outside handle on. One bolt is on the side of the door covered by a rubber grommit and the there inside the door in the middle of the handle.

View 9 RepliesLet me begin by saying I have no clue what this trim or molding is called. It goes from hood to the trunk and runs beside the windshield and rear window and all the way across the top.
Well mine is peeling off. By this I mean the "sticker or decal" that lexus decided to use instead of paint is peeling off and now my car looks like crap. What is the name of this part or how to remove it so I can go have it painted? The dealership offered no assistance besides charging me 1200 to have them taken off and "new ones" put on that have the same sticker piece on them.
I just realized my CPO 2011 is still under factory B2B warranty. There is only one thing wrong with it, the matte finish is coming off the metal trim surrounding the nav system, revealing chrome underneath. It looks like the part is matte clearcoat over chrome. Pics attached of the areas.....

View 1 Replies2001 GLS... Noticed the passenger front door window outer weather strip is loose at one end. Looks like a "tab" on the strip fits into a slot on the door panel. Since the tab is smaller that the slot, is there some kind of clip or something that holds the weatherstrip tab securely in the slot?

View 1 RepliesMy '05 Expedition will be driving normal at highway speeds, and when I need to apply a little more throttle to start up a hill I get a shutter thru the truck that sounds and feels like driving over a rumble strip. It doesn't last but just a second or two, but it happens frequently. Is it something in the 4wd? Transmission? or.......?

Short of replacing them ,what other options are there? Wrap it all in some kind of matching tape? What kind? If i have to replace them, what kind of costs and complexity are we looking at?
Other than that, at over 120k miles, this baby continues to be a dream to drive
Portions of my console have started to peel along with the driver side handles. Car had less than 20k miles on it when the peeling started.

My car came stock with the LED strip on the grill and was wondering if there's a way to keep the lights from dimming when the headlights are on?
Noticed that with the stock ones but they get dimmer when you're headlights are on. I want to keep a constant brightness.
Just picked up a new to us 2004 GX470 for my wife.
One of the things wrong with the GX470 is the passenger door exterior molding is unclipped at the bottom. I ordered new clips from eBay and they just came in. Now I just need to figure out how to get the molding off without making the problem worse so I can replace all the clips.
The right side of my driver side door handle recently came detached, and I can't get in my vehicle unless I crawl in through the passenger seat.
View 7 RepliesI got a 2013 awd 2.4 Sport. I am installing a set of running boards and would like to put an LED strip under the boards that is activated when the doors are opened. I am not looking to have glowing neons while driving. I want the feature for lighting up the ground area around the entry doors when someone enters/exits the vehicle. I want the LEDS to remain off otherwise. I figure it would be best to tap into the dome/door circuit but I am lost on how to do it best. My hang up is with getting wire from inside the passenger compartment to under the vehicle (Prefer not to go drilling holes through the floor) I did find a thread about interior lighting upgrades and the OP specified that there is a brown wire inside the A-Pillar that goes -output when the doors are opened. I discerned from that that I would run the LED strip positive lead to the battery and tap the LED strips negative lead to the brown wire.
