I have a 2004 Camry. A few months ago, the LH headlight stopped working. Thought it was the bulb, but wasn't. High beams work, DRLs work, socket good, contacts good. But, when I tap on the headlight cover, the low beam comes on, and stays on. What's going on here?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius that I purchased with no upgrade on the headlights. There was an upgrade available for high intensity lights, but, I didn't get them. The low beam on the passenger side headlight just stopped working. Two questions:
1. I was just told by the Toyota dealership that to replace the headlight, the entire front end of the car would need to be dropped. They just told me that with them supplying the bulbs, the cost would be about $250 plus tax. If I supply the bulbs, only about $200 plus tax. My owners manual indicates that this is a do-it-yourself project. Is this true or is the dealership trying to make money off of me?
2. When I do replace the lights, I would like to put in something that would put out more light than what I have now. I have been told to be careful because many replacement lights throw off so much heat that the housing around the bulb could melt. Also, I have read that some of these replacement bulbs have a very short working lifetime of 1-2 years. Obviously, I would want to keep away from them.
I have a 2011 tiguan 2.0tdi 4motion, around 3 days ago the left headlight dipped beam stopped working, I replaced the bulb with no avail, the sidelights, and high beam work, just nothing on dipped beam, at first the warning lamp illuminated with the message on the screen, of check left dipped beam, I've checked and have no voltage going to the connection the bulb connects to, now the warming light and message have dissapeared but still no headlight. Where to locate the fuse for the headlight...
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 Camry. The low beam headlights stopped working last night. All the other lights work. High beam, driving lights, marker/park lights. I checked all the fuses. I changed the headlight relay. Still nothing. Could it be the headlight switch on the steering column? Trying to do more research before I replace it.

1. Key fob -- keyless entry and alarm stopped working
2. high beam doesn't come on when headlight is on. However, when headlight is off, it comes on--go figure
3. Power door lock also does not work, even from driver side door. Have to lock all doors manually
4. Interior lights don't come on when door is open.
Low beams don't work. The fuses are fine (under the dash, and in the engine compartment) and the bulbs look good. The fact that both went out at the same time has me wondering. One post on this forum for something not related mentioned a headlight relay behind the fuse panel?

From what I read and observe, the same bulbs serve both high and low beams on 2004 Odyssey. In other words, there are no separate low- and high-beam bulbs. What the problem might be? And is it fairly easy to fix myself?
View 13 RepliesSo I was driving tonight and bumped my brights on and turned them back off and now my low beam on the driver side isn't working. Figured it blew the bulb so I replaced it and still nothing. High beam still works, low beam doesn't. Checked the low beam fuses and they seem to be fine. 2004 FX4

View 19 RepliesI have an 04 outback wagon with the right side headlight that has stopped working. I put a new bulb in but it still doesn't work. I tried swapping the fuse and the relay from the left side light but it still doesn't work. All the other lights on the car work. When I was poking around the connections with a meter the light flashed on/off a few times. Could this be a connection problem or something wrong with the rear headlight assembly?
View 1 RepliesI am having an issue with the passenger side low beam headlight on a stock 02 Passat. Bulb is fine but after testing confirmed no juice to that side. Drivers side works fine as do the running lights on both sides. Fuse is fine and after an afternoon of looking at it I am about ready to beat my head up against the wall. Only other clue is the cig lighter went out about (not sure if the exact) same time.
View 2 RepliesI am planning to replace the headlight (high beam) light of my 2006 Toyota Camry. The original OEM light lasted for nearly 6/7 years.
I noticed in some forum that "Sylvania 9005SU SilverStar Ultra High Performance Headlight Bulbs" is good, but it has short life of less than 1 year.
I suspect that I already know the answer but will ask anyway. In another lifetime I could adjust the headlights on my car (two spring-loaded screws on each bulb for up-down and side-side adjustment).
The low beam on my 2010 Camry seems to run out at about 30 yards. Some night I am going out and actually measure it. High beam has no problem as it goes forever. It just seems that the low beam does not allow me to see very far down the road. I have not asked the dealer yet and thought I would ask here first. Is there a way to adjust the headlights on these new cars with the total headlight system in one big package?
My driver side low beam is not working. I checked the bulb and it's fine. I also checked the fuse and it's fine. Took it to the dealer and they said could be a few hours of labour to determine where the problem is in the wiring.
View 8 RepliesI drive a 96 Subaru Legacy. What does it mean when one of the high beams is dimmer (less light output) than the low beam? I am using a brand-new bulb. It's not an adjustment issue because I was looking at the bulb when it was outside of the housing and it clearly gets dimmer when you switch to brights. However, they are equally bright when on low-beam, so I don't think its just a crossed wire.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Buick LaCrosse. The low beam headlights have stopped working. I thought that maybe the bulbs needed changed (since I usually have to change them every 6 months) but after changing one with a brand new bulb, it still doesn't work. The "old" bulb looks ok. The fuses are also good (I checked them with a multimeter.) The only thing that I see in my shop manual is something about the ambient light sensor. If this has gone bad, would that cause the low beams to not work? The high beams work fine. The low beams will not work with the headlight switch in the "auto" or "on" position. I don't see any DRL relay or fuse in this car.
View 17 RepliesMy 04 Toureag has one headlight (low beam) that flickers on and off. I can shut the door and it will flicker on. This happens both for daytime running lights as well as regular headlights. It also at times registers on the dash that a light is burnt out. Yet all the lights are on and working.
View 1 RepliesDriving home the other day my right turn signal stopped working. Checked all lights when I got home and the front signal had a constant but low illumination and all the other lights were mostly out as well, very little was working actually.
Pulled the bumper and head lamp tonight. The plastic connector on the low beam was melted and the wires were burnt. The problem was the two brown wires that are sort of routed together. Third wire (grey or another shade of brown depending on headlight manufacturer) was OK.
Headlights are aftermarket, Volx Tuning, < 1 yr old. The rest of the harness inside the assembly looks good- certainly don't see any opportunities for a short.
I replaced the connector and bad section of wire and plugged it back in for a test. All lights were then 100% operational. I removed the assembly to find that the same lamp was smoking again. (I sort of expected this, but had to try.)
Clearly I've got a short somewhere but where do I start? The part of the vehicle's wiring harness that is visible behind the assembly is in good condition. The lamp itself (H7 I believe?) appears OK as well, I don't guess I get so so lucky as to hear those can develop an internal short in the base or something?
My driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.
