View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Treg with 28k miles. This car has the air suspension and the dashboard with the LCD display.
When the foot pedal break is released, the break light remains on and the center display sounds off the alarm that the foot break is on as the car begins to roll.
After half dozen additional pulls of the break release handle, the issue goes away. This is now happening almost every time the foot break is used.
98 Camry 6 cyl Automatic. Brake light came on two days ago. Pedal pressure was fine. Checked fluid: low. Immed topped off. The next afternoon, I swapped out the front pads. Old pads had worn down to a sixteenth of an inch or less; figured that was the issue. Rotors looked fine. New pads in, tires back on, pumped the brake pedal a few times. Pedal pressure was still good. Fluid level had increased. But the brake light was still on!
Took the car out for a drive... 5mph, stop. 10 mph, stop. so on and so forth through 65 mph. all braking fine. pedal pressure good the whole way through. tested the parking brake. engaged fine. But the brake light was still on!
This morning I replaced rear brake pads. Old one were at 50% or more. However, when I was compressing the rear passenger caliper to fit around new pads, noticed a lot of fluid coming out as I compressed. Don't know if that is normal or a function of the excess fluid in the system now. New pads in, tires back on, pumped the brake pedal a few times. pedal pressure still good. But that brake light is still on
Did the same test drive mentioned above. But that annoying brake light is still on!! I am sure I could get a firmer pedal by bleeding... but I am at a loss as to what else could be causing this blasted light to stay on.
ABS and Brake light coming on and staying on with an '04 Camry 4cyl XLE? I've found posts here of it flashing and wheel speed sensor codes etc, but nothing on it staying on and not re-seting.My code reader is not picking up any codes, I tried jumping pins 4 and 13 on the OBD port to read the code that way, and get no flashes from either ABS or Brake light, and tried the 8 pedal press method to reset the lights with no luck.
Before this, I was starting to get a little noise vibration at around 50mph which seemed to be from right front wheel, so on the wild guess that the bearing had gone bad and damaged the wheel speed sensor or tone ring, I pulled the sensor and it physically looked ok, and tested out at ~ 1kOhm.I checked all the fuses for the ABS system and they all tested ok.
Was looking to change them out. But can't find anything on how hard/easy this is to do.
View 4 Replies1994 Camry XLE V-6 239,000 miles and just broke in. Dash brake light on??
I have checked brake fluid taking lid off the canister and level is spot on. Do not see any obvious leaks looking under the car at each wheel. Whatever is the cause it is no longer letting my cruise control to work. The cruise control system must be getting a constant signal telling it the brakes are being applied. Car brakes seem to work ok and I continue to drive car daily. Problem with dash brake light cropped up about 5 days ago after I cleaned the EGR valve.
I previously had a check engine light and code was for the EGR. Don't believe the problems are related but thought I would add this info anyway. BTW the check engine light came on again so cleaning the EGR didn't solve the problem. Will have to have the code read again to see if its the EGR or something else now. Dash is starting to look like a christmas tree with all the pretty colored lights on. What should I check to solve the dash brake light/cruise control issue.
The brake lights do now work when braking but the 3rd (rear window) light works and tail light filament of both bulbs are ok. So the brake light switch works. right?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 Camry. This morning I put my car in neutral and rolled out of my garage into my driveway. After cleaning my car I drove back into my garage but noticed that the brake warning light stayed on. I checked the parking brake and fluid level and no problems there. I took a drive around the block and the brakes worked fine. Why this warning light is on?
View 3 RepliesCamry 2002 XLE 4Cyl. 2.4 ... When I switch ignition key on, there are no ABS and Brake light come on. Why is that happening? How to fix it? Normally, when we switch ignition key on, what are indicator light on?
View 6 RepliesThe 3rd central brake light is not working. I looked at the manual to find where the fuse is but could not find it.
View 13 RepliesMy 04 Camry is having brake issues. It has 205k miles. The front pads are great and the back shoes are great. (Drums in back) I've had them adjusted multiple times but my pedal still goes almost to the floor. It's not the master cylinder cause I've already replaced that. The pedal doesn't bleed off either. But I have bled the brake lines and there is no air left in the lines.
View 14 RepliesWe recently purchased a used 2006 Prius. The vehicle has approximately 74K on it now. Well the other day my wife went to leave work and pressed the power button while pressing the brake pedal, and the Master Warning Light and brake warning light both came on. The car would not allow her to shift the car so she tried to turn it off and it wouldn't do that either. After about 5 minutes she finally got the car to turn off, and when she restarted the sequence everything went back to normal and she drove home fine.
We called 2 dealers and they both seem to be confused by the symptoms, but one thought that maybe the battery was old on the transmitter. So thinking that might make sense I replaced the battery with a new one.
I have a 1996 camry and the break light don't come on non of them. I change the switch under the break pedal and it didn't work. I change the fuse but when I did so it spark and blew the fuse. Is there a reason for this? where should i go next with this issue.
View 1 RepliesMy completely un-modified fully-loaded V6 Camry SE is currently in the shop getting the brake actuator assembly changed after almost a YEAR of these lights randomly coming on. There was no rhyme or reason. I'm a tad OCD so if there was a pattern,I'd have found it. Never came on to where they could test it. Said they could do nothing until they saw them. I took photos, but they acted like they'd never seen it before. Finally, as I was just ready to pass the dealership, they came on. I pulled in and they checked and said the lights came on right when I "was going 4mph, on an angled curve with my foot on the brake!"
And after an hour and a half said I needed to leave the car, gave me a warranty rental, and said they'd call me. I called them to learn it was the actuator assembly that was going to be replaced and one would be overnighted in. So I have a 4-cyl rental without all of my perks, like the moonroof, the heated seats, the automatic rear view mirror, back up camera.....what a difference! I'm spoiled after 19 months of my Camry! Oh, and when I first got it, there was a bad musty odor from the a/c vents every time I turned it on. I bought it with 55 miles on it...they said "all Toyotas do that."
I said this is my 3rd Toyota in a row, and I ah do one in the past. Oh, "brand new Toyotas," they said. My corolla was 6months old when I bought it. After 2 years, I traded it in for a brand new FJ Cruiser, then traded that in 6 years later for this brand new Camry. Nothing! Finally, I get a notice in the mail from Toyota re: a/c condenser pan overfills, not draining, and can cause airbag problem! was that stench water in the pan, seeping in through the vents smelling like a dirty rag not enough of an explanation that something was wrong. We had to wait until it could have been an airbag issue? Yikes! Happy that took care of the problem and my new car smell was back in no time. How it goes with the lights!
is there a way to make the center LED brake light brighter? (such as replacing them with brighter red LEDs or something?)
I was following an identical 2009 Camry today and never realized how dim those center brake light LEDs were.... the car in the next lane was a Chevy something and its center LED brake lights were retina-burning bright!
2009 Camry LE: my rear brake light doesn't work when braking (fully lit), but it works okay for night-time mode (dimly lit).
This problem is affecting just the right side. The left side is okay for both braking (fully lit) and night-time mode (dimly lit).
Troubleshooting: my deduction led me to believe that my bulb is not burnt out and the wiring harness and fuse are okay because the bulb can be lit during night-time mode, just not when braking. I also think that my brake pedal switch is okay because my left-side brake light is fully lit when braking. I can only speculate it's a circuitry/logic board problem of some sort; I'm just not sure where I can locate the problem.
I own a 2004 Toyota Camry. Its just under 100,000 miles. A few days ago the ABS and brake lights started flashing on and off at the same time. They stay on for a second and then go off. It doesn't happen every time I drive the car but it is happening more than it's not. The place my husband took it to said they can't diagnose the problem unless the lights stay on. Is it safe to drive the car?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2009 Camry LE. My right rear brake light blew out, but no warning light seems to pop up on the dashboard. I only realized the brake light went out when someone pointed it out to me. How can you tell that the brake light blew out? (I checked the manual but didn't find anything)...
View 4 RepliesThe brake light on the driver side doesn't work. The center window brake light works as does the passenger's side brake light. My first thought was the bulb, but when I just have my tail lights on it works just fine. From what I can tell it's obviously the same blub so I don't know where to go from here. The fuse that controls the brake light also controls all of the brake lights so I don't think that would be it since only one side is out. Trying to avoid going to the dealership if I can.
View 7 RepliesMy cousin got a 2007 Toyota Camry. Every time we did a oil change put 5 qt Synthetic ow-20, once he hit to 3000 mile on hard brake stop, the oil light is on, we check that has low oil level and oil change. came out 2 half qt oil.
View 11 RepliesAll those 4 problems, abs light on, brake light on, odometer gauge fluctuate, temp gauge fluctuate and air conditioner stop working, all happen simultaneously. They can also recover and work altogether again for a bit a time, and then all car runs good and after some time it happens again. Quite inconsistent.
Its toyota camry 2007,v4 , 95K miles on it.
Here is how it looks, another person just recorded here : [URL]...
Went to Toyota, they diagnosed the following codes:
c121
c2177
c0205
c0215
U0073
Can it be done more economical or better way to do it. Also while the ABS unit is at fault and car is running perfectly fine with the brakes working as expected, is there any issue having the car to be used in the meantime it will be fixed.
