Camry :: 2003 LE - Smoke Blowing On Start-up After Extended No Use

Recently my 2003 Camry LE is blowing out a big puff of bluish/white smoke in the mornings when I first start the car or after extended periods of non-use. But I am not getting any smoke any other time that I can detect. The temperature here doesn't drop much below 70 degrees if it does. What could this be and how can I remedy it?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Start Blowing White Smoke Out Of Exhaust?

2002 F350 7.3PSD, lariat 4x4 dually , 212k miles, automatic, crewcab, bone stock other than k&n filter in factory air box.

Bought the truck from used dealer with 168k miles on odometer. Drove it for two months and the radiator started filling with diesel. Had injector cups replaced. Had new o-rings on injectors and valve cover harness (both sides) at this time. While in shop they wanted to put injectors in truck but limited funds haulted that. Got the truck back and drove it for a while and noticed that when starting the truck it had a miss till it warmed up, but went away. This has been going on for over a year, but now has gotten much worse. Over the past year it has gone from slight miss to a full on dead cylinder that you have to make the truck pick up as you drive it. If you leave it sitting for more than roughly 10-12 hours you have to plug it up or it has trouble starting.

The final push from this ole girl was the other day. Left for work, normal hiccups and such from the truck. I pull up to a stop light and notice the truck is not sounding like its running correctly. No biggie it will smooth out, or so i think. I head towards work and the farther i get from home the worse it runs...

It wont pull its own weight, barely creeping at times. So i stop and check all my normals(oil mainly... just replaced hpop fittings and o-rings) and add fuel to it to get it over half tank. Start truck, still missing. Pull out on highway and dump foot to floor. It takes off only to fall on its face and start blowing white smoke out exhaust and die. It starts back but apparently I pissed it off cause from there it only got worse!!! It done that all the way to work, one time being so bad i had to stop and let traffic go by as the smoke cleared the roadway.

I get to work and check oil and it was way low. I add oil and drive it to lunch and it runs good, no hiccups misses or anything. Yay, problem solved!!! WRONG!!! Head home after sitting for a few hours and i pull out the parking lot and it falls flat of its face and goes into its dieing and such again. I limped it home and its sat in the yard ever since. Tried to start it today and after being plugged in for a couple hours it only sputters on a couple cylinders till it slowly dies. All Ive got for my troubles today has been two dead batteries...

This truck has always been underpowered as well. And gotten terrible fuel mileage (8-10 avg)... But it sure is pretty!

Camry :: 2003 Solara 4cyl - Blue Smoke On Start Up

I have a 2003 Solara 4cyl, some months ago it started to blow light blue smoke on start, but would go away after a few minutes. My mech, could be the valve guides. Then about a month ago it blew a head gasket, didn't overheat though, as I stopped, added water and went to the mech. So new gasket and a valve job, but it still blows smoke on start. THe mech said going to 20w50 might work, it didn't. I check the oil last week, thought it should a couple of qts low, so I added oil, but the blue smoke is still there, and I started to smell oil burning. I thought maybe I added too much, so I add another oil change w/20w50....still have the oil burning, blue smoke on start... The mech thinks might be leaking in the rings...ugh....probably could/ve bought a new engine by now...... The check engine light had been intermittent, the mech said it the catalytic converter....it finally went off by itself four days ago....maybe it burned out..........

Toyota - Camry :: 2003 - White Smoke From Exhaust Upon Cold Start

Recently purchased a used 2003 Toyota Camry LE. After a recent oil change at the local Toyota dealer we noticed that when we start the car in the morning a puff of white smoke spews out from the exhaust for a few seconds and stops. There is no more white smoke while driving the car around. The car runs perfect and has no power loss. Initially we had noticed it was losing coolant. All the discussion on the internet pointed to a bad head gasket. We had a mechanic look at it and it turned out that the radiator was leaking and hence the loss of coolant. He also noticed the oil was overfilled so he brought it down to the normal level. The mechanic also checked the head gasket and claimed there were no issues with it. Replacing the radiator took care of the coolant loss but the white smoke still comes out only the first time the car is started.

Camry :: 2000 - Blowing Out Puff Of White Smoke When Car First Starts

I have a 4 cylinder 2000 Camry that I recently took to the shop because my check engine light was on and it was blowing out a puff of white smoke when the car first starts. I was told it was an EGR problem and this is what I had fixed:

"Upon client approval, remove and replace defective EGR Bypass Vacuum Valve with new (OE) EGR Bypass Vacuum Valve. Test drive vehicle following service to confirm proper operation. Warranty on parts and labor is 2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first). Warranty valid at FIXCARNOW locations only. "

The problem is my car is still blowing out smoke, the check engine light is off, but it is having the same problems it did before. My concern is that either they didn't properly diagnose the problem,even though they ran a full diagnostic on the car, or just didn't fix it.

Toyota - Coolant - Camry :: 1990 Started Blowing Smoke / Radiator Is Empty

Over the last few weeks, I'd been smelling something. Today, I realized it must have been coolant. Today, my 225,000 mile, 2.3L 4cyl 5spd 1990 Camry started blowing smoke. When I parked, and gingerly touched the radiator, it was cool -- and empty. When I squeezed the upper hose, it crackled as if very dry. I drove the car about a mile and parked it at home.

When it cooled, I confirmed the radiator is empty -- except for a lot of reddish crud. A hint of the same reddish color on other engine parts MAY be from coolant spraying under the hood, but I'm not sure.

I couldn't tell from spots on the garage floor whether the coolant had leaked out there or not.

How should I proceed from here to address ... a) the leak, and b) any other damage caused by running the car dry?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 4.6L V8 - CEL On - Blowing White Smoke?

I just bought a 97 f150 4x4 4.6L v-8 and keep having problems. The check engine light came on saying that it is running too lean. The truck had been sitting for a while so I changed the air filter, maf, and pcv valve. After changing the pcv valve it is now blowing white smoke. What can be causing this to happen?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 GTI 1.8T - Oil On Top Of Turbo / Blue Smoke Blowing

My turbo started to have oil on the top of it. I don't know where it's coming from at all, it started to blow blue smoke but not all the time. You can also smell the oil burning off.. someone said maybe the pcv system but not sure. Still new to the vw world only owned the car for about 4 months. Trying to add pics but it's not working.. Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Blowing White Smoke From Tailpipe?

As the title says, leaking/blowing gas from exhaust. Here's what i have done so far...

Compression check: 145 to 150 across all 6 cyl
Fuel Psi check: 65psi
New plugs, wires and injectors along with new intake gasket
Checked for vacuum leaks and found none
Starting to think headgasket but coolant levels were normal, but not driven for a couple miles after the misfire/smoking gas smell started.

I have fire, compression and to much gas, the spark plug on #1 looks clean, #2 show more black and 3 thru 6 look blackish/normal. I am at my wits end on this.

98 5.4L v8 and the obo stopped @359999 after i bought it and put a new engine in her, but my truck is blowing white smoke out of the vents. i have been told could be the heater core, radiator line ... not sure.can anyone help me with this?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: White Smoke Blowing While Driving?

SO, I've owned a 92 f250 7.3 for 10 years and it's got over 340k miles on it. Well, she is getting tired so I'm debating replacing the truck with a SLIGHTLY newer model.

I've found a truck that is a 99 7.3 powerstroke with a 6 speed manual and 260k miles. Knowing these engines I feel this truck has at least another 100k in it if the thing was somewhat taken care of. The issue is that the fella that has it for sale says it ran great for years and one day started blowing white smoke while driving. Other than this new issue it runs fine.

So my question is, what could be the issues causing the white smoke? I always thought white meant unburned diesel or maybe antifreeze. Head gasket comes to mind but it's not something I've ever dealt with.

I like that he parked it when it started having issues. Sounds like someone who doesn't completely trash their vehicles. Too high given the condition? Truck looks and sounds pretty good aside from the smoke, pretty reasonable condition.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Blowing Gray Smoke On Acceleration

I bought a 03 6.0 dually a couple months ago. Got a good price on it. I use it very little, around town sometimes and used to pull a 7000 lb camper sometimes. My issue is, the other day I took off with the camper. Drove for maybe 5 miles then stopped and waited for traffic. When I took off again it was blowing gray smoke when I was accelerating and had little power. I was going about 30 mph for about a mile at about 3000 rpm up a very gradual hill. I was in the tow setting. When I got to the top of the hill it seemed to recover. I pulled over and shut it off then took off again without any issues.

The next day when leaving camping it was the same thing. Took off and saw gray smoke and had little power. After about 1-2 miles all was well again. Truck has 202k miles. Recently replaced oil cooler, egr cooler has been welded shut at both ends, turbo has been cleaned and all the filters and fluids are new. I have a Scan Guage 2 and monitored the ficm voltage and it maintained 47 to 47.5 volts. I know 2 injectors had been replaced when I purchased it as well and the egr valve by a dealer(they said it showed the cooler was clogging but like I said it was welded shut). What I should look for?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Cold Start Blue Smoke Blowing Until Warms Up And Accelerate

I have a 07 6.0 powerstroke, I had 2 bad injectors so I replaced all of them with reman's. I had a problem with them coming loose. the first time this happened it hydrolocked the motor, number 8 cylinder. so I pulled all the injectors and replaced all the seals and washers and torqued them down a little more than spec like 27 lbs. it runs great and starts great even at 25 degrees but I noticed this morning that when starting it up after it sits (cold) it blows blueish smoke until late it warms up and I accelerate. is this normal? should I check fuel filters? oil in fuel?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: CEL / Rough Running / Smoke Blowing When Cold

I had been fighting some problems with injectors for several years. I didn't have time to dig into it. I knew what I needed to do, just needed to find time to do it. I honestly thought it was and injector and thought I would have to go to new sticks because I've had so many problems with the remans.

Well I finally had time last week. I pulled the passenger side valve cover and ohmed the injectors. It would be almost impossible to get the leads in the injector while installed the truck. I kept an old valve cover harness, so I cut a pig tail off of it and plugged it into the injectors so I could test. You can see the meter attached to the pigtail in the pic.

To my surprise all four were all right around 2.7 ohms. You need to set your meter so you are getting a reading w a decimal. If you set it to high it will only show a whole number and it is better to have a more accurate reading.

I then plugged the wiring harness back in and tested it from there. The #7 injector gave over 6 ohms. This told me that my wiring harness was bad. I went OE and replaced it. I had a problem w a Dormant valve cover gasket before so didn't want to go that route. After I replaced the gasket and harness all my readings were under 3 ohms. They were all lower than w the old harness.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2001 Started Blowing Blue Smoke

Yesterday went to get on the freeway I looked back and saw a cloud of what looked like blue smoke. I'm in northern Utah and it's cold but the truck runs fine, I haven't noticed any change in performance. Turbo still builds boost. I pulled the fuel filter cap last night to check fuel color and it was clean.

I do have the CCV mod done. I also pulled to IC Pipe off the turbo and there was a little oil in there but not much, should there be any at all with the CCV mod? Where to start.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Truck Overheats And Start Blowing White Smoke / Smells Like Antifreeze

2006 overheats and starts blowing white smoke, smells like antifreeze, added 2 gals of water to make it 1 mile home. Smokes on the way @195 temp and when I shut it off it smokes out tailpipe for another 3 min. Smells like the head gaskets just went, what should I check? The eot and ect have been 10 deg or less.

This has 225,000 miles on it ran great before this, so would it be stupid too not get a redone set of heads while I'm doing the gaskets and studs?

I was thinking of getting heads from here, UCF Machine Shop - Precision machining, engine rebuilding and more. Cummins + Ford Rebuild Specialist. And a Sinister Diesel Complete Solution For Ford Powerstroke 2003-2007 6.0L. Are these the right places to deal with or should I look elsewhere?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Running Rough / Started Blowing White Smoke

I have a 7.3 that's running rough. Started it the other day it ran alright but started blowing white smoke. Bought a oil and fuel additive i was going to run through it. Came a few days later, it stated up and was real loud and sounding like it was loping. It blew a good amount of white smoke, but it just smelt like real heavy diesel. Now i can only turn it over and it won't start.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: F350 Blowing Black Smoke / Code P1211

I have a 2003 F250CC 7.3 with 200,000 miles on it. I just purchased this truck about a month ago. My question is it blows black smoke. A little at idle but mostly when you give it any pedal. I have replaced all of the injector o rings and that didn't make a difference. Then I had it tested and it failed a CCT test on #2 cylinder. I have an injector to put in it, but am curious to find out if 1 bad injector would be enough to make it smoke all the time. I keep getting P1211 ICP pressure above desired. I had a friend of mine who used to work at a ford garage take a look at it with his computer and he said that everything looks good other than the CCT test.

Camry :: 2004 2.4L Extended Cranking When Warm?

starting problem entirely solved by only replacing new fuel filter. i pulled out the filter assembly, checked fuel pump strainer good, regulator oring good but found the filter internal paper was black! changed a new one and the problem never recurred.

-2004 camry 2AZ-FE. 115,000 km (71,000mi).

been searching everywhere for same issue on Gen5 camry but couldnt find any exact fix.

-cold start in the morning (or whenever engine had cool down to ambient temp) engine fires in one kick. max 2 second crank only.

-when engine is warm at operating temperature, and is shut off, i crank it for 4-5 seconds or even longer but engine doesnt fire. 2nd attempt to crank, after the first long crank, it fires in 1 second crank time. this is consistent every single time.

-after engine fires, it idles normal. no sputter or any other abnormality. never had MIL on.

-engine drives normally on all type of load, uphill, highway cruising, city driving etc. so i believe no issues with spark plug.

-cleaned MAF, cleaned camshaft position sensor. measured camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, coolant temperature sensor all within specification. measured my battery at 12.33v. manual specifies 12.5-12.9V but dont think 0.2v would cause this problem?

-swapped open circuit relay with EFI relay with no effect.

-general check on vacuum hoses, no breakage.

-cleaned PCV valve

-check my exhaust - its very clean, no carbon built up and even has water moisture. pointing to good combustion. so i believe injectors are fine.

-next possibility is either fuel pressure regulator and its oring, fuel pump, and the in-tank filter. i am wondering if i should replace all these....
