Son was driving his car today and the roads were patchy ice leaving the addition. As he went around a turn the car started to slip and traction control kicked in. Right after that the trac off light came on and won't go off. Tried recycling the trac switch on and off to no avail. Tried to check the fuse but can't find where it is located.
View 8 RepliesSo My traction control light went on the other morning as I was leaving the garage . I pushed the button on the console and nothing happened. I shut the Tig off and restarted it. Nothing , light was still on . Since this was 6am . I drove it to coffee and drove it home thinking it would reset . No luck .
Waited till my local dealer opened and went over and asked the service advisor if he knew anything about this ? He took it for a spin around the lot and said everything looked and felt ok and said it would reset itself sometime if I drove it a bit. He gave me back the Tig and sent me on my way ... This was a Saturday morning.
So , I drove it for a day or two and nothing and the light was still on and my 4motion felt like it was not working right. Weather was Icy and I did not want my better half driving the Tig with this problem .
I took the Tig to the dealer on Thursday morning and told them I was here the other day etc. etc. They called me later in the day and said a plug-in electrical connector under the car did not have a plug in the open part of the connector and to pick it up and bring it back on Friday when the parts come in.
Now they just called and said it was the rear end and VW NA tech line was walking them through things and they need my car over night to diagnose it further.. So after all this it goes from a stuck light reset to a plug-in connector to a rear end ....
I was having a little fun with the first snow of the year, and now my traction control light won't go off... I was thinking it was the ABS... shed some light [IMG] [URL] ... got back into the car and now it works correctly ...
View 1 RepliesI don't know why but my traction control and abs lights stays on when I start my car if i turn it off and restart it 3 or 4 times they go away sometimes. Sometimes they will go off and comeback! what does this mean! I had my car jacked up the other day when i changed my oil i don't know if i could have pulled a ire or something from jacking it up on an angle one side at a time. I change my oil the same way every time so i never have a problem.
Also the traction control will turn off and not the ABS light after a restart, I can turn it on and off when i do a restart and it goes off, but when i start my car, and its stuck on i cannot turn it on and off! Is it bad to drive the car? If a break sensor on my wheel was replaced and then was disconnected would it trigger the ABS light? I had the sensor that goes down to my wheel replaced and it may have loosened up... but what else could cause this?
Mustang GT 2008 ... My ABS, Brake light and Traction control light stays on. It will go of sometimes when it is raining outside. Sometimes it looks like Christmas lights going on and off. I have taken it to the Ford shop but they can't figure it out.

View 8 RepliesMy uncles car traction control light comes on when it feels like it. Its a 2010 with 6000miles 4cyl. Warranty is up in december. Can this problem be a sensor on the wheels? I will bring it in to have dealer check it. I just wanted a heads up of what it could be.
View 3 RepliesI have a 202 Jetta 1.8T GLS. Sometimes the traction control light comes on and the car jumps like it cant figure out what gear to go in. It gets very interesting to drive when it does this as I am sure you can imagine. Only other light that is on is the engine control light which is on all the time. Car seems to run fine until this happens. If I pull over and shut the car off it seems fine when I start it up again and continues to run fine and all of a sudden it happens again. I do have a code p2637 Torque Management feedback signal "A".

Car becomes harder to start before the problem starts occurring. When the car is started, the idle will rise above what it normally does (750rpm) to 1200-1300rpms and drop back down and raise back up again. Its like its constantly revving itself, this continues the whole time the gas is not being applied. With this comes the EPC light, the Traction Control light and a hardness to the brake pedal (as if the brake booster hose is disconnected or its not getting its vacuum assist, very hard to brake when rpms are at idle). Sometimes im able to boost but most of the time, i am not able to exceed 2lbs of boost. Limp Mode? This has happened before about 5k ago.
I sacked up and got it diagnosed and it turned out to be the Throttle Body, Crankshaft position sensor and the brake booster hose. All at the same time, which is weird. But all those items were replaced by me and the car ran fantastic. until now. This will be the 3rd throttle body put in since the car came off the line. it seems like thats the problem since the brake booster hose is fed vacuum to the throttle body? But i would love second or third opinion before money is spent. If it is the throttle body, what could make this unit go out so systematically and slowly? If it was wiring then you would thing itd kill the part quicker than 5-10k miles. I will post the CEL codes when i can get one to come on.
I have a 2010 camry and I am coming up on 15000 miles so i know im going to be due for another maintenance. accordingly, the "maintenance required" flasher started going off, so i thought it was all good and i should just take it to the dealership soon. well this morning when i started it up, it started flashing the "maintenance req" but once i backed out and put it in drive, the check engine light popped up as well as the traction control light (car with squiggly tire marks behind it).

The brakes have been checked and are ok and it has been hooked up to a code reader and no codes come up. Occasionally the light will go off and the abs and traction control work for awhile.
View 1 RepliesThe problem started with ABS light on steady and traction light coming on and off. Had a private shop check the codes and he cleared the codes. The light was out, then came back with the ABS pump running constantly, even with the key off. Had to pull the fuse to stop the pump. The code was C1095. Replaced the ABS module. Now the ABS light is blinking and the traction light is on constantly. Codes shown are P1000, B2477, C1095, and B2290.
View 5 RepliesMy 2010 Subaru Outback recently surprised the hell out of me by simultaneously turning on the brake warning light, the traction control light, the check engine light and (just for a bonus!) disabled my cruise control while flashing the cruise control light. I pulled over, quickly surmising that all of those systems could not have failed at 70 MPH without instantaneous death to either me or the vehicle. Both apparently still being alive, I tried turning the car on an off to reset the lights. No go. Subaru was not going to miss this chance to get me to the dealership! (who I had avoided to this point!) As I was far away from home and the car being very healthy, it seemed, I decided to drive on. I proceeded to put a couple of hundred more miles on the car before I got back to town.
My car had 39,000 miles on it, 3,000 miles beyond the warranty end. I learned that I have an error code of P0171, "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Air/Fuel too lean)". So I guess I'm wondering about a few things...why would this sensor set off every light on my dashboard and disable my cruise control? Seems a bit overblown for running a bit lean. My gut tells me Subaru has a sensor/software problem they are not owning up to. I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and this really smells like one...
Second, jeez, I'm only 3K miles over warranty, don't you think they'd cut me some slack. I mean I love my Subaru, or did anyway, until this happened. Now it's just another POS car that breaks for no apparent reason...
I have had my 2002 Toyota 4 Runner SR5 for a few years now and it's been a vRttery. But now they are coming on within each fill up and within the first 100 miles of driving. So I had this Mobil Mechanic come by a couple of times and tell me that his little gizmo says that it is the Catalytic converter. Of course I'm skeptical because the Trac and VSC lights are on as well as the Check light. I'm thinking that maybe he has a cheapo little gizmo and that maybe it has something to do with the brake system.What do you think?
View 9 RepliesI read about traction control and people having problem in the winter. Here is what the problem. Good tiers will grip when you have snow condition, but what about ice? I don’t care how well your tiers are, how much money you paid, or how highly recommend it, if you on ice and traction control kicks in you are done.
If you get enough speed going through icy snow then no problem, plow right through it, but if in the icy snow traction control kicks in your tiers just stop spinning until it get the grip!, but it can’t because you on ice!
How to turn traction control off? If I’m correct that before 2010 traction control option was optional and now it’s a standard. There few videos on how to turn it off on hybrids, does that mean it will work the same on not hybrid?

My car has the "trac off" button on the left side of the steering wheel by your knees. When I push the button at a stop (park, neutral or drive) the "trac off" light does not illuminate on the dash. If I press and hold it for three seconds, the VSC off light also does not illuminate on the dash.
I read the manual (page 174) and I'm doing exactly what it says to turn it off but its not working. Whats going on here?
My wife went out and started the Camry today and turned on the A/C which has been working fine. She ran in to grab something and when she came back A/C was off. The control panel doesn't light up at all. I can't find anything listed as an a/C fuse under the dash or hood.
