Camry :: 2002 - Back Up Lights Seemed To Not Turn On
Aug 28, 2014
Not sure why but randomly one time putting my car into reverse, both back up lights seemed to not turn on and I don't believe they are broken or blown.

View 4 RepliesLast week, my 2002 V6 Camry decided it didn't want to start when the key was turned. That was with my wife driving. By the time I got out there, the car was running just fine. She said it didn't turn over, didn't click, nothing.
Today, it did it again, but it didn't have that magic reawakening like it had last week. I tried jumping it to see if it was the battery, but it did not change anything.
Here's what happens: Turn key to run position, and the dashboard lights up.
Turn key to start position, and there's silence. The clock on the dash turns off (as normal), but the only noise under the hood is the sound of the starter relay making a single click.
Does that mean the next place to look is the starter Solenoid? Can I jump the solenoid like on an old car to see if that starts her up?
Just picked up a pretty nice 2002 sc430 today. On the drive home I realized all the dash backLights are not lighting up. However the The radio and climate control unit do have a dim backlight working but is stuck at one level of illumination.
Like most cars the all dash lights should be very bright during the day and when you turn on the headlights they should all Dim down. ..... Not on this SC.
Makes no difference what position the headlight switch is in....Nothing changes or lights up
and
The little Dimmer does nothing either when turned all the way one way or the other.
Fuses? I am not sure what to try.
How difficult it is to remove the rear seat on a 5th gen 2002 Camry XLE? There's a set of leather seats at a local yard and I'm thinking of buying it.
My follow up question is what the h ell do I do with my old seats? Is there even demand on Craigslist for that stuff? They're power and in good condition.
Was driving my 2003 camry and all lights went out for about 2 seconds then came back on. Headlights and all dash lights. What the possible cause could be?
View 6 Replies2012 camry se my question is can I make the fog lights turn on with my parking ligths ???can it be done and how
View 14 RepliesI have a 2002 Camry 4cyl. with 235,000 miles and recently when I had pulled into someones driveway on a downhill slope and when I put the car in reverse and tried to back out, the car revved up like in neutral then slammed into reverse like it was slipping and then slamming into gear. Forward gears seem, what maybe causing it.
View 4 RepliesMy moms 2010 Camry SE with 21k miles is having a problem where the blue lights around the radio go out and come back on, but when they do come back on, they flicker. What could be the problem? I have the exact same car with the same exact options as hers with the vacuum fluorescent display (same as hers) and never had a problem. What could it be? It's been out of warranty for two months now and so it will be out of pocket.
View 2 RepliesI have been having an issue with my interior lights, namely all the dash lights (cluster, climate, stereo, etc)
I have to keep switching the euro switch back and forth until it finally switches on the interior lights. The headlights still work but not the fogs, unless the interior lights go on.
What this could be? Perhaps an electric problem? Faulty euro switch?
I started noticing my wifes 2009 SE was hard to turn sometime back. I finally checked under the hood and saw this. I'm not sure which hose is which but could the clamps be causing the leak? I've got ATF Dexrom III and a turkey baster with plans to try and flush it (the long way) this weekend.

View 14 RepliesThe back up lights don't work until I open the trunk about 6 inches, then they both work.
View 1 RepliesOver the past year on my 2002 Camry, I have had my CE light come on and on the next start, the VSC TRAC lights will flash back and forth and then stay on shortly after moving the car. This seems to happen soon after a gas filling. I can put my reader on and usually find codes 0440 and 0402 which I can clear the CEL but the VSC TRAC light comes back on the next time I move the car. I have taken it to a dealer three times now and they have found no apparent problem and cleared the lights. But maybe the next time I fill up, it happens again . . . but not every time I fill up. I have read about the "fix" by shorting out pins 4 and 10 but I am not comfortable with that right now as there has to be a specific reason this is happening.
View 5 RepliesStereo cut off, battery light came on, windshield wipers got week, car shut off and wouldn't turn back on. Jumped and immediately died, found blown etcs fuse, replace got vehicle home. The next day the stereo turned off again so I went to get new fuses and the car turned off again. Fuse wasn't blown, had battery and alternated checked and they've been tested as being fine. Ran diagnosis and got 2 codes related to pcv valve and throttle body which I'm assuming came from going into limp mode once I got 2 blocks from my house.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 Superduty 4x4 that the brake lights hazards and turn signals have stopped working in the rear.. The middle cab brake light does not work either.. The running lights do work as well as the turn signal and all lights in the front.. I also checked the trailer plugs and both work for running brake and signal lights.. I have checked all fuses under the hood as well under the dash with a test light and i have nothing blown.. I have replaced the Brake switch as well as the flasher module under the dash and picked up a new multifunction switch (Turn signal/hazard) and that didn't work either.. I'm stumped at this point.. I have not checked the bulbs yet but wouldn't think they would all blow at the same time.. (will do this next)..
View 3 RepliesI have an 02 GTI w/ 1.8t and 5spd. I was in the drive through and all of the sudden the ABS, ASR, and seatbelt lights came on and the battery light is randomly blinking. I got home turned the car off and went to restart it and when I turn the key nothing happens. I should also mention I recently have 2 cels for p0171 lean condition and bank 1&3 misfires that developed after I replaced a bad injector. Where do I even start?
View 7 Replies2002 Camry XLE. Turn the key and get a hiss, not cranking. All lights function properly. Battery is about 2 yrs old.
Here is a video. (turn up volume) [URL] .....
My fog lights were working fine until one day I noticed they didn't turn on with the rest of the lights until I switched all of the lights off and then back on. Some weeks later I noticed that the fog lights do not turn on at all. The fuses look good, the bulbs are good, and I don't think it has a dedicated relay. Any break in the wire?
View 11 RepliesFor the last few weeks, the headlights on my '05 Camry have had problems. I turn on the lights & my HID's don't come on, the high beams work. All the other lights work. I took out the relays, & changed the ballasts, still the same problem. I changed the bulbs from another HID kit, same thing. I tried putting in the stock bulbs & the still don't light up. I checked the 2 fuses under the hood, they are good.
View 4 RepliesSuddenly, while starting the car I see the ABS & Brake warning lights come on for a few seconds and then turn off. After a week of driving it the warning light come on and stay on and now another light comes on that looks like a circle with an exclamation mark in it. Am I in danger of damaging anything if I keep driving it? I called the dealer and explained the problem and he said the problem is a faulty ABS Control Unit.
