I am having a problem with my 2002 Pontiac Bonneville
Issue:
* Whenever i open my car door my radio sometimes does not shut off!
Info:
*After market radio installed with wiring Harness kit!
*Also all of my other power fuctions do cut off only radio continues to play
This is Killing my Battery!
I have an '89 Pontiac Bonneville that has a new fuel pump and filter, computer, starter, ignition, battery and oxygen sensor! Our car will crank up, but then shut off and lose all power within 30 secs. What could be wrong?The ignition still won't work. I was told that it may be the anti-theft. Does this car have one? If so, where is it?What else could be wrong with the car? We are having a very hard time!!!!!
View 2 RepliesI have a beautiful 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI with just over 100k miles on it. I've been saving for a new set of tires and a new regulator for the rear window. The window suffers from the "pop and drop" syndrome but I have instructions on how to fix it myself when I can get the parts.
Yesterday, I started her up to go to my second job when I discovered I had no reverse. In drive, I could just creep forward at 3000 rpm. Fixing a transmission is probably the worst case scenario I could imagine happening.
I'm left with two options: Either find something simple I can do myself to get it moving again or get what I can for it and use the proceeds to buy a piece of metal to get back and forth to work.
My Pontiac also has oil on the engine now with the oil pressure at 120. It started at 40 then went to 60. I had the oil changed and they put 5w30 which they were not supposed to do. I wanted 10w30.
Is this a common problem with Pontiacs? Is there a non engine replacing solution? Will I have to tow it to the mechanic?
just bought a 2002 bonneville sle 2 weeks ago. First few dats it ran great, then it started missing. Dealer had his mechanic look at it. His diagnostics said #1 cylinder wasn't firing. I replaced plugs and wires. Then mechanic said injector wire to #1 cylinder was dead. He messed with wires and got the miss out of it. Today it's back.
View 3 RepliesAll at once my power locks and windows on all doors and the power mirrors quit working. The Driver Info center also says "Unknown Driver" when I start the car. After that happened the check engine ligth came on and when I went to get that checked there was no power to the ODB port (not sure if it is related or separate). Also, the brake, ABS, and traction control lights are on...they have been so I'm sure that is a separate issue.

What do I need to fix this I am tired of leaning way over and tryind to open that door every time I turn the truck off. I have been told to spray wd-40 into the door catch are i used a whole can an it still isn't working...
View 2 RepliesI took of the handle panel on the exterior of the car to adjust the rod so the door would open easier. NOW THE DOOR WONT OPEN AT ALL!

I've tried removing the door panel from the inside, but it seems useless because the retarded vertical handles cant even be accessed from the door panel.
I started up the car this morning and drove it just fine, but the drivers door wouldn't open when getting out. so i took apart the side panel to fix the latch along with the electric lock switch that also didn't work to unlock the door. when trying to push the unlock button, I noticed my deck stopped playing music, then cut back on. i tried again, and then it cut off once more, but this time it didnt cut back on..
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 F-250 SD, Crew Cab, 6.0L diesel. Out of the blue, when opening the door with the key off and out, the dome lights stopped working, the radio wouldn't shut off and I would get no warning that I had left my lights on (nor any other warning coincident with the door opening). Just as if the truck is not detecting the door being opened.
One would immediately suspect the door switches, except that this was a suddenly occurring problem that affected all four doors, by sheer odds, pretty much negating this problem as one to do with the door switches. Still, I did spray the switches with WD40, couldn't hurt, right?
I have replaced relays (#306) with known good relays, I have pulled and looked over every single fuse. I have read of door post wiring issues with F-150's that speak to this issue for that model, but am not convinced that translates to the F-250. I'm at a loss, and almost perfectly convinced this is a computer problem (the GEM, though it's called something different now). But before I go replacing expensive computers, I would like to know how to diagnose this.
As it is, I've learned to live with the fact the radio will stay on when I get out of the truck and will time out after 10-20 minutes. I've learned to live without the dome light coming on and have counted my blessings when the foresight of some engineer saved me from a dead battery by knowing that I would leave the manual dome light switch on from time to time. I've learned to look back at the truck to make sure I haven't left the headlights on. In other words, I've learned to live with this problem.
The drivers side rear door on our 2004 T'reg is stuck shut. Neither the interior or exterior door handle will open the door. I tried locking/unlocking it a few times, both with the remote and with the interior button. Is this a simple fix, or is it off to the dealership with me?

[/COLOR] Also the radio antenna will not go all the way down - about five inches stays up. Are the two problems related. Like others mentioned, I could eat off of the engine and the trunk still smells like a new car.
View 14 Replies I have a 2004 F150 Screw Lariat and the problem is this: After turning of the truck, removing key from ignition and opening the door the following happens:
1. Radio stays on (will time out)
2. The power windows still work
3. The interior dome lights stay off
It's as if the door switches have been removed from the circuit. I've tried all doors. There are references to the GEM module but I didn't think there was one in this truck.
For the door switches, when the door is closed, the circuit is open, when the door is open the circuit is closed. I'm not sure what to check next. I checked some of the relays - auxilary delay relay, power relay etc etc. but I would think its a relay issue.
The door open signal is transmitted on the UBP network, no idea about that and they feed into the body control module - not sure where this is.
My navigation door will not open, and when I turn the radio on, it looks like it is playing - but no sound comes from speakers.
From digging around here, it looks like this could be a fuse problem - but both of these at the same time? Are they the same fuse? Are the fuses I would need to replace in the passenger side or under the hood?
BTW... it was pretty comical getting to the fuse thing in the passenger foot well - I am just over 5 feet tall, so it was easier to do it head down, feet near the headrest of the seat!
Today I got my car inspected (05 gli) and after the inspection, when I was driving home and went to a gas station. When I turned my car off and got out the radio (monsoon) stayed on. Then later when I opened my door the dome light did not come on. Passenger door turns light on and shuts radio off. I believe it is a door sensor? Where is this located and how do I change it or any other possibilities of what it could be? I did some research, and I have no issues locking the doors (security light blinks) and the passenger door works fine. Hoping there is a way to fix this without buying a whole new lock mechanism.

I've replaced the crank sensor and also the cam sensor with no luck, the car cranks with no start, when I used starter fluid the car runs, when i stop using fluid it shuts off what could it be.
Only has 38,000 Miles on it.
Well I have to make a long story short, suffice it to say this is a bit embarrassing, but I need an answer: I removed the 440-t4 transmission from my daughter's 1987 Pontiac Bonneville and had it rebuilt. After I replaced the unit I discovered I left off (and lost) the TV link and cable. I (miraculously)found the link and the cable, and I am wondering if I can replace the link without having to remove the side cover of the transmission, and what I can do to avoid dropping the TV link rod down into the trans while I am trying to reattach it to the linkage arm inside the trans thru the little TV link hole on the top of the trans.

View 3 RepliesYesterday this thing died on me twice. 30mph to 0 in nothing flat. No problems with stalling before yesterday. It's at the shop now, but they tell me they aren't finding anything and probably won't if they can't get it to die on them too. It had only been driven for about 5 minutes before each occurrence, and each time I had just topped a small hill(if that matters). The second time, it did slightly hesitate to restart and seems to me there was some light smoke from the tailend.

View 3 RepliesOn Sept 10, 2011 I was driving towards a major highway when my airbag light came on. I just figured it was a sensor malfunction and kept driving. I proceeded to the highway and when I was up to 57MPH I put my cruise control on. About 3 minutes later both of my airbags deployed while I was driving. Do you think I need a lawyer?
