I have a 1999 bmw 318se and the battery is going flat overnight and i cant find the problem. I have just fitted a new battery and checked all he lights and functions inside the car and they all seem to be working ok.

View 9 RepliesSo i have had a problem with my battery lately and i have done all the steps to try to fix it. First we took out the alternator and battery and had them tested at orielys and the alternator tested positive and the battery tested positive so we had them charge it then put them back in. They told us it is probably a parasitic drain which means something is draining the battery so we detached all my aftermarket stuff like my air compressor train horn and led lights on my grille guard and it ran fine for 2 days without dying. Well this morning i went to start it and it was dead again....
View 9 RepliesLike the title says, if it sits over night the battery will be about dead. The cables were replaced 6 months ago and are in good shape. I could not find and bad spots on the wires I can get to. One odd thing to note, with the key out of the switch I opened the passenger door to check the glove box light and the truck started chiming like I had opened the drivers door with the key still in the switch. Would that indicate maybe the key switch could be the issue?
View 14 RepliesMy hybrid battery has been running low the past few days. This has never happened before, but it has been around 90 degrees out during the same few days. I noticed it this morning as I left for work. It was down to two bars when pulling out of the garage. I was getting pretty nervous, but at least the ICE was charging it. Although, it never fully charged the system, as I live pretty close to work. On the way home, I tried to drive around for a mile or so to see if I could get the battery fully charged.. The best I could do was four bars. Is this typical of the hybrid system in warm weather? Should I be worried about it? Also, the system has a fan, why doesn't it come on if the hybrid battery is so temp sensitive?

View 9 RepliesI have a VERY intermittent problem with my 2013 Avalon. For the last two years in the months of Jan.- Mar. Sometimes (perhaps twice a season in Winter) When I leave the car sit for over 1 evening in a heated garage without driving it, the battery goes dead. I can charge the battery for an hour then get the car started, take it to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong. Even replaced the battery last year which solved it until the winter months set in 9 months later and now it's doing the same thing again.
I think that some accessory or something may be sticking on like the seat heaters or headlights, on those rare evenings when I don't think to check on it after I shut it off. Whatever it is, it's drawing a lot of current to deplete a new battery in 24-48 hours.
I went to start my GS in the garage this morning and nothing happened. I couldn't even open the trunk or turn on any interior lights. I checked the battery with a multi-meter and it shows 5.25V. So for whatever reason, the battery drained itself overnight. I'm positive no lights were left on or doors left open. So this is a total mystery to me.
What might have caused this? Also, how to open the trunk after the battery dies. The car has been great for the first 7k miles and problem free until now.
My 2006 Prius battery runs down regularly overnight. It seems to be something connected to the immobiliser and/or the interior lighting.

View 18 RepliesShould I be concerned..I have been noticing my battery is charging down overnight. I checked and all lights are off. It does charge immediately in the 10 mile I drive to work..but I am concerned why overnight it should be discharging.
Another Question - The right/left indicator sound is very muted..is that normal? Like, if I have the indicator on to merge into traffic, I am not sure it is as I can barely hear it chirping..
I've tried putting new batteries in my mini van and the battery goes dead after a day or 2. I've had it to the dealer before and they said it's a bad battery. which clearly it's not. I had a meter between the grounds on the battery and pulled all fuses under the hood and no change. I'm a quadriplegic and it's a nightmare when I go out with my aid to go to a doctors appointment and my van is dead. I don't have any money for the dealer again. I don't think the chrysler dealer even looked at it and took advantage of my situation. Its a 2003 Town country with only 29,000 miles. could it be the alternator drawing power when the car is off?

Twice within one month, there was absolutely no power to start the car because the aux battery went dead overnight. I'm pretty sure I didn't leave any lights on and don't think I did anything differently when exiting the car for those 2 times. I took it into the dealership, and they couldn't find anything wrong. They said the battery was good. What is draining the battery overnight?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Saturn Vue. My wife left the key in run or Accessory position overnight and drained the battery. Now that I have recharged the battery the car will not start. The dealer where I bought it said to turn the ignition to the run position for an hour to reset the security system. Then turn it off and start it. They said this would reset the computer and reenable the fuel pump. Didn't work.
View 30 RepliesI went to drive to work today and found that my battery was drained. None of my interior lights were on and I'm 100% sure I turned the car off last night after I backed it into the garage. Last night I drove the car home and was mostly on EV, but drove the last 3-4 miles on ICE. I had the car charging overnight too. This morning, with the battery dead and the cable plugged in, it was making a click sound near the fuse box when I tried to start it.
The passenger seat's heater was on (I think) and I don't think any of the doors were ajar. The only door that could have been opened would be the driver's but I don't think it was half closed.
So I got a 2008 model, only owner. It has 107K miles. I've noticed something the last couple months now. When I park the car in the garage after coming home from work it has a full charge, about 3 bars below top, it's at the max of the blue color.
When I start the car in the morning it still displays the same level. But after driving down the road about 3 blocks it seems to update slowly and drops the level, sometimes down to the brown, about 3 bars high. The car will run rough for a while almost every morning now since it's not using the hybrid battery to smooth things out.
Ever since owning the car I've noticed it can run rough sometimes normally, like when you're at a train crossing and the battery drops to 2 or 3 and the engine powers on to charge it up a bit. When I drive away you hear the engine a lot louder than usual as it seems to be running on engine only until the hybrid battery gets sufficiently charged and you feel a lack of power as you accelerate.
2005 f150 xlt supercrew. Battery dead overnight. New battery installed, and it was drained after a few days use, then an overnight sit. I hooked up my meter as required to check for an amp draw. 5.87a draw. Disconnected alternator, no change. Started pulling fuses. Fuse #107 Power Door Lock(BSM) pulled drops down to 1.04a. Radio power fuse pulled also, drops to .033a. I have had a problem with the 6 disc changer trying to load, read, eject etc so I will be changing out the head unit. I am stumped as to what to try for the 107 fuse though.

I have checked starting voltage and battery. Both check good, (after i have recharged battery, of course). Is this normal? I certainly hope not.
View 10 RepliesSo my daughter has a Subaru Outback with keyless entry and push button start, and her battery kept dying overnight. It turns out that she was keeping her second key fob within 10 feet of the car, so the car's electrical system was kept on all night (sensing that she was approaching the car) running the battery down. The lesson learned (the hard way) was to keep your key fobs far enough away from the car so the electrical system is not constantly energized.
