I've been having a wierd whirring sound when I accelerate for the last 1000 miles or so. I have about 19k miles on my 20007 Azera Limited. As a driver, I do have a somewhat heavy foot so I worry that I tax the engine/transmission too much. What it could be?
View 16 RepliesQuestion to everyone who drives an Azera out there. This is regarding the 3.8 V6 engine.Does your engine make a whirring noise at around 2000 rpm? Sounds almost like a supercharger whine, starts at around 1800 rpm and continues up to the low 2000 rpm's. It's not a loud noise, only audible with low volume music or none at all.

View 6 RepliesTowing with my 07 F150. I now have a noise all of a sudden. I worry that is the rear end going out. As I accelerate normal from a stop, I , for one feel bump-clunk sensation, as if I have a bad u joint. 2nd I now have a "whip whip whip" whirring sound, sound character speeds up as I speed up.
I hope the sound is the brakes, because I know they are getting down to the end of their life.
I noticed some time ago that engine is making a sound like smth. is spinning very fast (gyrscope? mass wheel?) That happens when it is idle or drives slow, when I accelerate the sound disappear. The sound is hearable inside and outside of the car.
View 5 RepliesMy 2006 sonata gls v6 has a whirring /oscillating sound in the front end that is getting the best of me . It is a whirring sound that increases in volume and level as I accelerate up through highway speed . When i go over a dip in the road the sound will oscillate .(change in volume)
Though the car is a 2006 with only 31,000 miles on it . I put it on jack stands and put the car in drive . The front left (drivers side cv axle has a minute wobble to it . If I hold the cv joint at the transmission tight and wiggle the tire I can detect a little play . ( maybe 1/8of an inch )The boots are intact so no grease is oozing out .
I have already changed both hub bearings in the front end and there is zero play in any of the suspension . The brake pads were replaced and the disc 's appear true (I filed of any rust on the edges )while I was into it ...
When i apply the brakes at highway speed I can feel a mild shudder in the wheel but not too bad . There is no clunking or clicking in turns nor is there any change in sound when turning the wheel while driving ....
The tires are Cooper cs4's that are a year old with no sign of abnormal wear. I rotated the tires to verify its not a tire issue. The auto transmission fluid level is normal. I am thinking about changing both cv axles. I am hoping its not an output bearing in the tranny.
At 20mph my azera sounds like it has bad bearings but they have all been replaced and I still hear the sound. Almost sounds like bad bearing or something in the wheel.
View 9 RepliesI constantly hear 'tick, tick, tick' sound from the engine at start. Once the engine gets heat up, the sound disappears. I live in canada so it is still kinda cold in the morning. I didn't have this problem in the summer. the problem started in december when it gets really cold in canada. so i thought it might be an engine oil problem. I called the dealer to ask what kind of engine oil they use for my azera, ans they said they just use a regular engine oil with viscosity of 10w-20. However when I check the manual, viscosity of 5w-30 is recommended. I know engine oil with viscosity of 5w-30 is thinner than the one with 10-20w and therefore easy for the engine to get heat up and better protection at start in the winter. What viscosity engine oil do you use for you azera? Will using synthetic engine oil useful??
View 17 Replies2006 Subaru Outback. It has around 121000. I bought it at 113,000 last October since my previous 1998 Subaru made it to 240,000. So far I've taken it in for all new wiring and a tune up. And I was assured by the car salesman that the timing belt had been changed prior to my purchase. Anyway, since August I've had a rattly/whirring sound that I am experiencing over 15 mph. It seems to be coming from the back of my vehicle. It sounded like I had a hole in the muffler because it was reminiscent of when I lost my muffler on the highway with my 1998 subaru a few years ago, but this sound is definitely not as loud. The sound does increase in volume at high speeds on the highway but has so far not been as loud as my previous experience. (and the muffler is still there when i look under the car)
When I took my car in to get the oil changed a couple months ago, I asked the mechanic to check and see if he saw anything while under there. They told me it was my heat shield.
Recently the noise started being a little bit louder on the highway so I thought maybe it was my tires since they were very due to be replaced. I bought new tires within the last few weeks and there has been no change with the whirring sound on the highway. Yesterday, I noticed a light thunking sound that started happening between the speeds 10-40mph. It seems to be in the front of my car and occurring with the rotation of my wheels. There are no sounds when Idle.
We are only one week in to owning our 2006 Prius! Question is why does it sound like a motor whirring sound after turning it off? It only lasts 20 to 30 seconds, just wondering if this is a normal sound?
View 4 RepliesThis is a 2006 Honda Civic LX which it won’t turn over. Last night we replaced the battery because it was old, and that still did not fix the issue.
The lights, stereo, electronics, etc will turn on, but when you turn the key, it’s just a very sad sounding “whirrrr” and nothing. It sounds like the battery is dead, but it obviously isn't. There’s no clicking…it has a full tank of gas…the key is programmed fine and is not new…
Further details: yesterday we were able to turn the car on (though it was slow to start: we thought it was the battery…) and move it to the driveway one time. After that, even jumping it off doesn't work.
Previously for the last week or so I've been experiencing a slowness to the start (I would turn the key and it just took a little longer than it has before to finally turn on) and also my headlights & interior lights were flickering pretty severely during my night driving. We had someone at Advanced Auto check the battery and alternator with one of their gadgets, but the alternator checked out fine. The battery was old and showing that it didn't have much left, so that’s why we replaced it.
We checked a lot of the fuses and didn't find anything blown. The alternator belt looked good, we made sure all the battery connections were tight & secure… We are just so confused as to why it’s not working…!! I'm not sure if the intermittent lights flickering is related or unrelated. I am in a relatively warm place but it's not been all that hot lately... I've never had any other problems with the vehicle...
I have recently noticed that my Azera makes a "knocking" sound right after starting the engine. It just about a dozen of fast short knocks one after another and it is gone after 2 seconds (like a diesel engine started on low temp. It appears more often when the engine is rather cold.
View 27 RepliesI have an '07 Azera and the turn signal sound is intermittent. The signals flash normally, but sometime I hear the flasher sound inside the car and sometime it is dead silent. Cannot seem to correlate it to temperature or other factors. Any way, I assume as the lights flash with no sound that either the flash or the sound is electronically generated, but cannot be like an old school mechanical flasher. What makes the flasher sound in the Azera and where is it located?
View 1 RepliesI have azera 2006 , originally i don't have buzzer sound on lock/unlock the car by remote. so i get a siren horn 12v and i tried to connect this one to the car motor locking(front right side),when i tried it gave me sound on lock or on unlock not with both ways.finally i failed to do it and i decide to cancel that. after that i had a problem, when i lock the car by remote, there is no indication lights coming tells that the car is locked, but the doors are locked except there is no light from the turn signs and if you try to open the trunk it will open, that should not be. Also, if you are inside the car and the car is on, if some one open or close the right door the car will make 3 times door unlocking. So, i think shortage happened to the module or to some sensors so the system not close the circuit.
Is this car has a control module for key less entry or that combined with bcm.
Do i need to change the module or bcm?
Do i need to reprogram the keys?
I noticed when I first start of my 2006 Azera at night or even during the day and make the first turn of of my driveway or out of the parking lot at work there is a high pitched whining sound. Sounds like it maybe coming from under the car maybe from the back. I thought at first it maybe a belt (power steering) under the hood but it sounds like it coming from the back side of the car. It only does it one time mostly when its cold outside. What can it be?
View 8 RepliesOk a new rattle is going on in my 2006 Azera. Not sure where the rattle is coming from. Took it to the dealer last month for a oil change and asked them to look at the underbody to see if anything was loose. The service manager said everything looked fine. So if it isn't rattling there where else as I can tell something is loose somewhere.
I looked in the trunk yesterday and everything is sound in there didn't look at the spare so that is the next step. Doors sound solid but I hear it when driving like something is knocking lighly under the car. Thought it might be the tail pipe of something connected. I been riding my Burgman 650 most of the summer so far but when I pick up my girlfriend in the Azera I hear it from her and then from the car.
I get a grinding or whirring sound when I turn my steering wheel left or right. I gets worse if press the accelerator pedal. I believe it has something to do with the power steering but I don't know how to troubleshoot the issue....
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l GLS. Staring to get an little noise from the engine about a few days ago. The noise what can only describe as a whirring sound and while in the cabin it sounds like it's coming from the right side and in the engine area, especially after a cold start and during acceleration. It is not very loud(have to turn stereo off to hear it and it only last for a couple of seconds as far as I know. My car now has about 240,000kms on it, and since the noise is coming from that area I am guessing it's a pulley of some sort. Serpentine belt was changed last year. What this noise is? I was thinking it might be the belt tensioner, probably should have changed it during my belt change.

Based on service bulletin 06-20-002 I believe the issue is with the timing chain tensioners. I am looking at getting a DNJ TK147 timing set kit to replace them with. Do this kit contains the updated tensioners? It is located on rockauto.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata LX with 91,000 ,miles and today it starting making a clunk sound when I would accelerate normally as it was going from 2nd to 3rd gear. My question is this: I have 91,000 miles on it and have owned since new in 2005 (8 years). Does it sound like a transmission problem and would a transmission problem be covered under the 10 year, 100,000 miles warranty?

I live in a city and potholes are a way of life. I got four new tires in November and had the alignment checked and fixed at the time. What it could be?
