Azera TG (2006-11) :: Rear Package Shelf Rattle

I've been living with a rattle in the rear shelf since ~6k miles. When I took the car in for an early 15k service, I told them about it. It rattles whether the radio is on or not, so it's not speaker vibration. The tech heard the rattle, but did NOTHING to try to fix it. I was told by the service writer that since I was past 12k miles, it may or may not be a warrantied repair! He said that if the part is broken, it would be covered, but if it simply needed an adjustment it would NOT be covered. How do you adjust a rear package shelf???
I called Hyundai and was told the same thing. The girl at Hyundai said they go by what the dealership says. It was almost like she was saying "wink, wink - have the tech say the piece was broken and we'll pay for it." I'm supposed to authorize them to tear the car apart not knowing what reason they'll give for the rattle. It's an intermittent rattle, so I've been tolerating it.

on my 08' I had the rattle that seems to be just right behind the left ear while driving and the passengers side of the car as well. It was driving me completely nuts. Well after trying to locate it, I was driving and leaned my head into the back seat area. The sound is from the rear parcel shelf and just seems to be reflecting up to the front of the car, which may be confusing people to think its up front.
Anyway, I simply folded down the rear passenger seat and took a section of bicycle inner tube about 10 inches long and rolled into a roll, I then stuck it in one the metal parcel frame holes located in the trunk, push it all the way back until it rests against the rear sunshade housing. My car is completely rattle free now.

Many months ago I had a rattle in my 13 Azera. Of course when I took it back to the dealer they heard it but when I left it was gone. I had a scheduled service to have it looked at but the rattle never came back.
The last two weeks it is back louder than before. I thought it might be coming from the passenger seat belt housing on the side of the door but now it sounds like it might be coming from the passage side rear door or maybe the sun roof. Hard to tell yet my girlfriend was in the car last night said it wasn't coming from the passenger side seat belt housing sounded more like the rear of the car.
So going to make an appointment to get it looked at next week. I hate rattles! I looked all over the car yesterday after had her cleaned up. My trunk is empty, so not sure what it could be.

I'm up to 102k on my 2007 Azera Ltd. In the last two weeks I started getting a grinding/rattle type noise when I turn my AC/Fan up to the higher levels. When it's on low/mid you can't hear anything. Does this mean the compressor is starting to go or is this something else going on?

I read at Edmunds that some customers were having problems with the sub woofer causing a rattle whenever they were playing a song with heavy bass. They took it too their dealership and the dealer just told the customer to turn down the base.
That clearly is NOT a fix. It's more of a work around. I was having the same problem with my Azera. As I like my music with heavy base and quite loud, this was becoming quite annoying.
I decided to investigate the problem and discover that the door to the baby seat anchor on the driver side was sitting on the metal underneath the headboard. I got some weather stripping and cut out a couple of 1 inch strips. I then stuffed them under the plastic cooler which surrounds the baby seat achor. My sound system is now clean at any volume level.
If your having a similar problem, open the doors to your baby seat anchors and gently pull up on them. This will pull the head board off the metal underneath. If the rattle goes away, you'll know where to place your weather stripping.

Just a few days ago I noticed a new rattling sound from the rear shelf (2012 SEL). Showed it to the dealership a few days. They are going to have a look at it next week.
I tried pressing at various placed with my hand but could not pinpoint where it was coming from but it appeared to be somewhere from within the rear shelf on the driver side. Sounding like some loose plastic clanking against some metal.
Thought I'd share this since the car appears to have this recurring issue of rattling from various places.

My rear brakes are grinding so I am preparing to replace all pads and rotors. Any special tools or procedures from when they did theirs? Do the rotors have retention screws? Do you have to use a special tool to push in the pistons?

I have a 2006 Azera and recently had the small part of the door handle fall off (part #83652E). I got a new part but wanted to know how easy it is to install this or whether I should have the dealer do it. Do I need a special tool to remove the door panel/clips or can I do it with something else. Once inside, is it just as simple as screwing the new part on through a hole in the door?

I'm talking about the little nylon ropes that lift up the parcel shelf when you open the hatch. On my 2010 the car came off the lot (zero miles) with both retainers broken. Theyve broken again since then and were replaced; I talked to the dealer and there's no preventative fix, just replace them every time they break. Any thoughts? I tried to search this but I think I'm calling the parcel shelf/deck thingy the wrong name...

I have a 2011 Azera. The rear doors don't automatically unlock when shifting into park. They function properly otherwise. The child door locks are set in the open position.

We have a 2008 Azera Ltd. with 108,000 miles. Until recently rear sunshade worked perfectly as we used in in auto mode retracting in reverse and going up in forward. No noise during any phase of operation. Not sure when but recently sunshade quit functioning. have tried console button without success but also hear no noise indicating a broken gear as others have reported. Have checked fuse on drivers side fuse panel and it is not blown. From this I can only assume problem is either motor has completely failed or switch is bad. I have laid in the trunk to see if i can access system but covers are all riveted so i thought I'd pull the switch and test it but not sure how to remove it without damaging console

I have a 2008 with 21,000 miles on it, the arm rest has a completely worn down as if it has a 100,000 miles on it. Also I took car back to dealership because the rear speaker vibrates at the sound of music. I like this car but it doesnt seem to be built as well as the Sonata I had before it. more trips to the dealer.

2010, 35k miles... didn't see that coming.
Looks like the hose is made of some plastic material that doesn't like flexing very much. I guess I opened the rear hatch enough times to break it.
Is this a common problem? Is there a proper size coupler available to fix this?

Every time I start my 2013 Azera there is a rattling of the valves like there is no oil in the top end. I have heard other owners complaining about this so I asked my dealer when I went in for an oil change. The last three changes I have asked and he told me the same thing, there is nothing being reported. So I got my oil changed and went home. Parked the car for 6.5 ~ 7 hours and when I started it up the sound was louder than ever. I called the dealer back and told them. They asked me to leave it overnight so they could hear the noise for them selves. I dropped the car off that evening.
I got a call the first thing in the morning and they said that their tech did hear something and they were going to test it again in two hours and call me back. They called back and said they believed it was the CAM phasers. They gave me the car back while they ordered parts and rounded up a loaner. I dropped it off on Thursday.
Two weeks later (today) I picked the car up. Here is what they did. It turned out to be the CAM Phasers so when they got in there they also had to replace the CAM shafts (All 4) as well. I am sure there was more going on than what they told me, after all they had the car for two full weeks!

Ever since I purchased my 2009 Sonata Limited, it has had a rattle in the rear end some place. Hyundai replaced brake pads, calipers, shocks, etc and checked sway bar but rattle still there. It is especially noticeable in below freezing temperatures.

My 2009 Elantra has a rattle in the right rear that I can't figure out. I read through the other thread that finally pointed to bad shocks.
1. I removed the shock and drove around- rattle continues.
2. I removed the sway bar link.- rattle continues
3. Checked caliper, seems fine
4. Wife drove me around while I was in trunk. The rattle is definitely coming from suspension.
5. Most rattling happens over very small road irregularities, not big bumps.
6. Rattling happens on or off the brakes.
7. Rattling is definitely a metallic sound.

I have a 2013 Azera w/technology package, it has 20,500 miles. I absolutely love the car, have had no issues with it. However, every time the car is started with a cold engine, either from sitting overnight, or sitting an hour when it's very cold outside (20's or 30'sF), there is a loud rattle like something is very loose or I've described it like it sounds like someone threw a bag of bolts in the engine for about 3-4 seconds. Then it runs like a normal engine. I've had it in the shop twice, the 2nd time they replaced the fuel rail injector assembly and all the injectors due to such a heavy carbon buildup in the cylinders. It still rattles horribly. It's an embarrassment to start, it sounds horrible and doesn't sound like the normal startup noise. This concerns me of the longevity of the engine. I have video of the start up noise even.

I recently bought this CPO Azera that came with 100k mile powertrain warranty. I noticed startup rattle that occurs when the car has been sitting for 30mins and longer. It usually lasts 2 - 4 seconds.
I wanted to take it to the dealership but I want to make sure that I approach them the right way and won't be sent home with "this is normal behavior" as it happened in many cases when I was researching it. I suspect chain tensioner but I might be wrong.

I've been trying to pin point this golf ball rattle i hear from my passenger rear side of my car. I though it was the sway bar end links wearing out, so i changed those along with a pair of new rear struts as they were leaking.
I was still getting the that rattles when i drove on bumpy roads. I then though it was the sway bar bushings going out on me so i took the sway bar off to eliminate it all together.....WRONG AGAIN.
Ok, it must be something behind the bumper right? before i start pulling the bumper clips my spider man senses zoned in on the passenger rear wheel caliper that i had changed 6 months ago due to a rusted guide pin that i acquire while i was living in snow country New York.
I began rocking the caliper and to my surprise the damn thing was moving very loosely.
Time for some maintenance: Turned out that the lower guide pin on the 6 month old caliper was loose. Cleaned it up and tighten it with an Allen key applied some crc brake grease, installed new brake pads and hardware and that took care of that damn rattling.

I am installing a dvd player in the glovebox and need to screw it to the bottom of the glovebox shelf... would be much easier if I could remove the shelf to screw to it. I thought I remember seeing a how to in here somewhere, but whenever I want to find something the search page seems to hide it from me!
