I'm up to 102k on my 2007 Azera Ltd. In the last two weeks I started getting a grinding/rattle type noise when I turn my AC/Fan up to the higher levels. When it's on low/mid you can't hear anything. Does this mean the compressor is starting to go or is this something else going on?
View 5 RepliesOn cold mornings if I do a sharp right turn (Left turns just naturally are not sharp, so I don't know if it's both ways). I get a rumbling noise in the transaxle. It sounds like a rumble, if it's limit slip noise it's pretty bad. It does not seem to be a problem in the summer. Dealer found nothing but if they don't do it while it's cold they won't hear it.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2014 elantra limited and have noticed heater issues. The heat never gets hot until the temp is set to higher levels. For example 25c /77 f is just lukewarm I need to set the temp up as high as 28c/82f or higher to get decent heat. Anything below 24c is like having the air conditioning on. It also seems to fluctuate at time, blowing warmer air and then turning cold. Coolant is topped up, no visible leaks i.e., nothing on the garage floor.
View 7 RepliesI've been living with a rattle in the rear shelf since ~6k miles. When I took the car in for an early 15k service, I told them about it. It rattles whether the radio is on or not, so it's not speaker vibration. The tech heard the rattle, but did NOTHING to try to fix it. I was told by the service writer that since I was past 12k miles, it may or may not be a warrantied repair! He said that if the part is broken, it would be covered, but if it simply needed an adjustment it would NOT be covered. How do you adjust a rear package shelf???
I called Hyundai and was told the same thing. The girl at Hyundai said they go by what the dealership says. It was almost like she was saying "wink, wink - have the tech say the piece was broken and we'll pay for it." I'm supposed to authorize them to tear the car apart not knowing what reason they'll give for the rattle. It's an intermittent rattle, so I've been tolerating it.
I read at Edmunds that some customers were having problems with the sub woofer causing a rattle whenever they were playing a song with heavy bass. They took it too their dealership and the dealer just told the customer to turn down the base.
That clearly is NOT a fix. It's more of a work around. I was having the same problem with my Azera. As I like my music with heavy base and quite loud, this was becoming quite annoying.
I decided to investigate the problem and discover that the door to the baby seat anchor on the driver side was sitting on the metal underneath the headboard. I got some weather stripping and cut out a couple of 1 inch strips. I then stuffed them under the plastic cooler which surrounds the baby seat achor. My sound system is now clean at any volume level.
If your having a similar problem, open the doors to your baby seat anchors and gently pull up on them. This will pull the head board off the metal underneath. If the rattle goes away, you'll know where to place your weather stripping.
I have a 2006 F150 STX auto trans with the 4.2L V6 that has been having intermittent starting problems. It has 98,000 miles on it. It will start fine 99% of the time but sometimes when I turn the key the starter will grind once or twice then it can go a few weeks with out doing it at all. Then also sometimes it will crank turning over for several seconds but wont start. Then it starts fine the rest of the time. This has happened several times but only happens once every few weeks or so. Just trying to see if it needs a new starter or if its something else. It has a new battery.
View 3 RepliesI've owned this vehicle for the past year. This 2009 Corolla XRS manual has a very annoying steering rattle which took me the whole year to finally breakdown and diagnose. There are many forums stating this rattle is associated with the intermediate shaft assembly #2. I did end up replacing this part 45260-02110, hoping this would fix the rattling or knocking issue. It did not, but smoothness the steering has improved. I removed the upper portion of the intermediate shaft to pinpoint the sound. Originally I believed the noise may have been coming through the bulkhead from the intermediate shaft #1 or steering rack. I checked under the boot and everything was snug. Then I rattled the steering wheel around and this what I found.
It seems the noise is coming from the pinion where the power steering motor meets the steering column. You can hear the knocking noise with settle steering wheel movements. As I move faster, the knock turns into a rattle at higher speeds most likely vibration from the road. At this time, I do not want to disassemble the whole column just to see if I can adjust the motor height (if possible).

Last Wednesday, I went to the parking lot after a lunch meeting and my 08 Azera would not turnover. I assumed it was a bad battery (53,000 miles on the original) so I replaced it in the lot (The original tested dead at the parts house). After connecting the terminals of the new battery, the car would still not turnover. It wouldn't even click. I called road side assistance and when they arrived the car started fine by just turning the key - no charger/jump system was attached . I drove the car the rest of the day and put it in the garage that evening.
The next morning, the car would not turnover again - not even a click. I called roadside assistance again and they came out and connected a portable charger and it turned right over. I drove the car to the dealer and it continued to start without issue and they were unable to diagnose any problem. They did a parasitic draw test but the new battery continued to test as fully charged. They also checked the starter and it appeared to be functioning properly. I parked the car that evening and the next morning it wouldn't turnover - not even a click.
I have an '07 Azera and the turn signal sound is intermittent. The signals flash normally, but sometime I hear the flasher sound inside the car and sometime it is dead silent. Cannot seem to correlate it to temperature or other factors. Any way, I assume as the lights flash with no sound that either the flash or the sound is electronically generated, but cannot be like an old school mechanical flasher. What makes the flasher sound in the Azera and where is it located?
View 1 RepliesI noticed when I first start of my 2006 Azera at night or even during the day and make the first turn of of my driveway or out of the parking lot at work there is a high pitched whining sound. Sounds like it maybe coming from under the car maybe from the back. I thought at first it maybe a belt (power steering) under the hood but it sounds like it coming from the back side of the car. It only does it one time mostly when its cold outside. What can it be?

Well this all started last night, started to drive, when accelerating , around 3k RPM I start to hear a rattle or grind. This only happens around 3k while accelerating. Once letting off the gas or pushing the clutch in, it goes away. Sometimes after 3k it'll go away.
I have had my 2010 Tiguan SE for about a month now and I have noticed a sound when it shifts that sounds like a tinny grind or rattle. This happens mostly in "D" not "S" mode and at the lower RPMs. Is it normal?
I took it to my dealer and of course they said they heard nothing, but it doesn't seem like something a new car should sound like.
Whenever I start or turn off the car and the steering column moves into its position at the time, it makes an odd noise. It's beginning to do it all the time. It's really hard to describe what it sounds like. Is this normal or could lead to another issue down the road?
View 4 RepliesStarting somewhere in the course of a 400 mile drive yesterday, my car developed a new sound. It sounds like something is either vibrating against something else or some little chunk of plastic is bouncing around in the engine somewhere. At first I thought it was a piece of the bumper or trim dragging on the road, but it's not. You hear it when the car starts, when the car gets gas, and even when the engine is idling. It's not a constant sound, but it's there more often then it is not. It's there at high and low speeds. It's there whether the engine is warm or dead cold. To my untrained eye, there's nothing out of order when I look under the hood. It doesn't seem to impact performance (yet!).

2010 Toyota Matrix with 72k miles....
Maybe around 35000 miles, experienced a creaking noise when you brake? The car typically does it after warming up, but every time I come to a complete stop, the rear of the car produces a creaking noise right before the braking completes. I brought it to Hyundai, they couldn't replicate it. So I took them for a drive myself, and was able to replicate it, however the technician had never heard or experienced this before. So far it's intermittent, but whenever it's more constant I'll bring it in again.
View 6 RepliesAs I am driving my 2009 Azera, every five or ten minutes there is a soft to moderately loud clicking (or clacking) noise for a second or two. I have tried pinpointing the location but it is difficult. When I have other people in the car, we each think the sound is coming from somewhat different locations.
The noise is loudest and most frequent when it is hot and the AC is running, so I am guessing it is associated with the cooling system. I have taken the car in twice. The second time, the service manager said she had read the Sonata was making some clicking noises in the moon roof, so she had my Azerra's moon roof serviced. That didn't work.
Ten months ago the dealer replaced my front end suspension as the noise was getting worse. Everything but the shocks were replaced. Good news for me and after the replacement the noise was gone.
Six thousand miles later after a trip to south Florida and many bumpy roads the noise is back and with vengeance. It now sounds like a rusty front end noise. I just about given up on this noise issue. The 06 is out of warranty, no recalls, Hyundai knows the problem is on the 2006 cars and now I have the same problem yet it might not be the struts but maybe the shocks. The shocks bad after 35,000 miles. I can't see it but maybe. I need to get them looked at first to see if that is the issue.
I have owned my 2011 Azera Limited for 12k miles. It has been a great car except for the rough ride and road noise. I have rotated my Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus Greens ( P235/55R17) every 6k miles. I was told, by the dealer, that the ride is because of a "European Suspension Style design", which calls for a stiffer ride but more control. I asked Michelin about this and they said the tires are made up of a new type compound which might make them ride a little harder. They suggested it was in the design of the car also.
After getting the run around from everyone, I went to and old retired Michelin Dealer/Owner, who I've known for years, and he said, forget these tires, they will cup easily and always run rough. Look for a brand with a higher speed rating, you'll get a better ride but expect less mileage out of them since they probably will be a performance tire. Tire sidewall stengths have changed so don't think a higher rating will make a stiffer sidewall. This is not true today at all.
When i start the car ticks randomly under the steering wheel it sound for the left side fuse box to the ignition key but i can located for sure because stop in 5 or 6 seconds, and just do it when i start the car and then just go away.
View 1 RepliesI've got a 2009 Azera with 58k. When I'm backing out of the driveway, I start to hear a low squeaking noise right as I'm turning the wheel. It happens right before I get a squeak I recognize as the breaks, so I know it is not that. It only happens when the engine is cold and typically the first or second time I try to turn at low speeds when I'm driving the car. I've had it also happen when I'm pulling out of a parking space at the garage at work.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Azera 3.3L. 72000 KMS. I have a heavy grinding noise from front end. Can't tell if left right or both sides. Changes pitch (heavier) as I speed up. Not related to eng RPM, only road speed. Is the heaviest starting at 60km/h to 80km/h then seems to level off. Begins (noticeably) around 15-20 km/h. I believe its bearing noise but have been told can be transmission or brakes. Had it on a lift with wheels off and in drive. There was no noise at slow speed. Appears to be getting worse as the days go by.
