Avalon - How To Find Map Version In Navigation
Jan 17, 2014
Any way to find out what year/version the map in the NAV is. Not the software version found in general settings system info, but the map itself.

View 5 RepliesMy Lexus 2013 navigation system seems to be less than reliable when it comes to finding shopping places and even other places. I was directed to a wrong place or residential area quite a few times with my nav system.
I rate the nav system as POOR in my Lexus, I am extremely disappointed and have to use a Garmin GPS to supplement the installed system.
One curious thing.... The software in dated 2011 and the car is dated 2013.
Where do I find the build date for my 14 avalon hybrid limited?
View 4 RepliesIm looking to find a wiring diagram for the speakers. I have the 2007 Avalon XL. I dont have naviigation or JBL system. I want to install a line out converter to install an amp for my sub.
View 1 RepliesI've had a 2012 Limited for a few months now and love it, especially the quiet nature of the interior cabin. Ironically it was because of that I started to hear a noise that has become quite irritating. It was clearly coming from the CD / Navigation system and began (or at least that's when I first noticed it) after I installed a music CD for the first time. The noise sounded like the CD player was constantly searching for a CD so I filled all 4 CD slots, but the noise continued. I called my dealer and of course they have never heard of this issue before (do they take classes and rehearse that line, they deliver it so convincingly no matter how ridiculous it makes them look!) I have now removed the Navi DVD and that is clearly the source as the noise has stopped. My question, is this normal or do I have a service issue here?
View 3 RepliesHow I can update the navigation system on my Avalon? I know I will need a DVD for the update, but I'm unsure of version I can get that will work for my car.
View 2 RepliesWe just purchased seemingly well cared for 2009 Avalon XLS. Navigation system is showing a DVD error (unable to read). First we thought it was missing the DVD then we discovered the DVD port in the truck and through some trial and error got the DVD (#U52) out. We are proceeding with the logic that the DVD is bad.
View 6 RepliesHow to turn off automatic volume control on a 2012 Toyota Avalon with no navigation unit. I just purchased this Avalon and noticed this morning as I drove and listened to music that the volume keeps going up and down as I accelerate and decelerate. I cannot find anything in my owners manual on how to turn off the automatic volume control.
View 2 RepliesMy 04 navigation unit started coding check DVD and error; I took it to my dealer who advised that the Unit is defective and is causing a ridge to form on the control disk. Dealer advised to call the Toyota 800 number due to my 36K warranty is gone. Called toyota and they referred me back to my dealer who is giving me the stall.
View 30 RepliesRecently the door on the navigation controls has gotten jammed shut. I am looking for instructions or a diagram showing how to disassemble that portion of the dash so I can repair the jam. I have a 09 Avalon XLS.
View 4 RepliesIs there a simple way to stay on the Audio screen instead of showing the Navigation map? If I hit Audio it ends up going to the nav map after about 10 seconds. I don't want to turn off the screen completely.
View 1 RepliesI got my new interior LED lights and went to install. All good up, Went to put in rear dome, which is usually easier than the front. Plugged everything in,nothing.
Played with it for a minute... nothing. Put original LED back in, now that one doesn't work. Spot lights on either side of the dome work fine.
I checked the fuse box on the drivers side, all good.
Trying to change the front sway bar bushing with a PU version? Does it improve handling and steering feedback?
View 1 RepliesWhat is the process for determining the version of the nav/radio software we have?
This is relative to the chronic system reboot problem that so many of us are experiencing.
So I bought the carbon paddle shifters that Khoa was selling from the first carbon steering wheel he got.
Having already replaced my OEM steering wheel with the flat-bottomed version, I was familiar with the process for removing what I needed to change the shifters over.
Everything went fine, and after checking all the connections were good, I re-installed the steering wheel, re-connected the battery, and took the car for a test-drive.
At first I left the car in auto, and tried using the paddles. Nothing. Flicked the shifter over to manual-mode, and it popped up I was in 4th. Tried shifting with the paddles to go up or down, but nothing.
I was short for time, so had to leave it like that for a few days.
I then removed the wheel again, and reinstalled my OEM silver shifters. Took the car out for another test-drive, and it works fine.
Khoa was kind enough to speak to the guys that sell these along with the very nice steering wheels everyone is talking about. They suggested I swap over the paddles so I keep the electrics of my OEM shifters. The paddles themselves are only held in with a gudgeon pin, which tapped out quite easily. The paddle itself slots in to a hole in a metal piece inside the plastic end pieces. Looks as if it simply moves up and down when you flick the paddle front or backwards.
I mounted the carbon paddles into my OEM electrics, and tapped the gudgeon pins back into place. I then re-assembled the steering wheel, check the connections, and re-installed the wheel. Re-connected the battery and took the car for a test-drive with everything firmly crossed.
Nothing!
The paddles won't work at all. Not up or down. I am so confused as to why they don't work. I can't see any differences between the OEM silver paddles and the carbon versions. Not sure what my next move will be. I need to try putting the OEM paddles back together, and see if they work. If they do, I am baffled as to what the fundamental difference can be between the two?
what the lowest version of iOS that will work with the Audio System for a 2012 Prius? Couldn't find this info. in the manual.
View 4 RepliesMy 2005 Infiniti G35 has 144,000 miles, two new rear tires and two good front tires. Sometimes, and I cannot nail down or reproduce-on-demand this situation, my car will suddenly begin to vibrate as if I'm driving over a smaller version of those rumble strips on the side of the road. The vibration continues when I take my foot off the accelerator, and will continue at a slower rate as I decelerate until I stop. Often it seems that when I come to a dead stop and accelerate again, the vibration stops, but other times it will continue as I accelerate.
But what's really odd is other times I'll just be cruising along and the vibration will begin, keep vibrating for a few miles, then peter out and disappear. I haven't totally nailed down whether or not braking affects it, but if pressed I would say that I would use the brakes at least once before it disappears. Also, it only seems to begin once I hit 50-60 mph, but again, it doesn't happen every time I go this speed. Other times this car drives incredible and makes the road feel as smooth as glass.
I haven't taken it to the shop because I'm sure they won't be able to reproduce it.
So I found a guy selling an OEM Part # 86100-06040 navigation for cheap. Is it as simple as plug and play for switching it out on my 2013 Non Navigation Carmy Hybrid? Does all the steering wheel controls are there?
View 13 RepliesIs there a way I can find out my trim via VIN. I went to a free website and entered my Vin but it just said "BASE/AUTOBAHN"? I dont see how its an Autoban because no leather seats.
My car has the cloth heated seats, monster mats, golf ball knob, rcd 510, moon roof, power mirrors, steering wheel with functions, bluetooth, Laguna wheels and non xenon headlights (I suppose they are still called halogens) .
I currently have a N/A 97 celica st which I am going to turbo. I was going to use a ct26 turbo but can't seem to find a turbo manifold. Can I buy one or just use a manifold suitable for the turbo and weld my exhaust flange to that?
View 2 RepliesI can't find the average mpg display anywhere. On my 2008 I could hit the info button and it would display your average mpg but on my 2013 Prius 3 there is no reading for that, at least I can't find it.
In the owners manual there is a pic of one of the display's that has it in there, but I can't seem to find that display anywhere.
