Avalon 2005-12 :: Remote Starter Antenna Location?
Sep 10, 2014
I had a remote started installed by the dealer when I purchases my 2014 Avalon Limited.
I was disappointed with the location of the antenna. They installed it on the left side of the windshield (passenger side) about 2-3 inches from the top of the windshield. It is in clear view of the driver while driving and is quite unsightly. In past experienced, I have always seen it installed behind the rear view mirror so it is out of sight, but when I questioned the dealer about the location, they said they cannot install it behind the mirror because of the Black dotted area (antenna?) would interfere with transmission.
I am curious if others have had the antenna installed in the same location or in another, less visible area. I am trying to decide if I want to push the issue further with the dealer.

I have the OEM remote starter. All of a sudden it stopped working. I hit the lock button 3 times like I always did. I get the confirmation tone but it does not do anything after that.
How I can fix it?

Replaced battery with good battery, terminal post, tested starter (twice), verified that 12V is switched to solenoid by ignition switch, cleaned all contact surfaces, etc. but starter still will not crank.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I can't find the location of the OBD port in any of the written material on my '06 Avalon.

I was messing with the drivers seat trying to fine tune it for comfort when I noticed the power lumbar rocker switch doesn't do anything. I looked at the glovebox manual for seat fuses and came up confused - everything else but what I was looking for...where is the lumbar fuse, or any seat fuses for that matter?

I have a 2007 Limited and the remote start function does not want to work. I press the correct sequence on the key fob and I hear a click but no "starter" activity.

I have an 08 avalon w/ 281k miles. NEED to replace the transmission speed sensor (P0500 code thrown). Where is it located on the trans and what is the part #? I'm thinking about servicing the trans while I'm there but looks like a lot of "comments" regarding this transmission and the problems with servicing it!?

Some background: New remotes programmed worked a month then stopped working, toyota dealer got it working for a month but only worked within 3 feet of door. Now not working at all. Could it be receiver for remote in the car? Where is it? How to fix?

On my sister's 2009 avalon unlimited, the remote will only unlock the rear drivers side door. If the door handle is grasped to unlock the doors, only the rear drivers side door unlocks. On the inside of the car, the drivers side door unlock switch (master switch) does nothing. The passengers side door unlock switch only unlocks the rear drivers side door. The bottom line is that only the rear drivers side door locks and unlocks using the remote or passenger side door unlock button on the inside of the vehicle.

I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, V6. I need to find the location of the keyless entry/car alarm antenna. I have heard that this vehicle might use the body frame as an antenna. Also where is it attached to the frame if this is the case.

I just purchased a new 2013 Camry LE and so far I love it. One questions I have though is this: Where is the radio antenna? I have the stock radio (non-Nav, non-JBL.)

Sirius antenna mounting locations. I first mounted on the front dash, in the center using the supplied small metal plate, right next to the GPS antenna. Well that looked ok but the reception wasn't great, in fact, I would lose reception, that's not a good thing, lol. So I moved the Sirius antenna to the left corner of the dash, up as close to the windshield that I could, reception was LOTS better, but I could see that depending on direction of travel the signal would get weaker, but not losing completely. So I moved it to the center of the dash, in the center up against the windshield, with a small piece of two way tape. The signal is now strong and haven't lost signal yet.
Here's a few pix:

I have a 2011 Avalon. The power door locks will all lock with the door button and the remote key. The problem is that only the drivers door will unlock with either method, what a pain.

Car: 1996 Nissan Maxima
The car has an automatic antenna (up/down when you turn on/off the radio). I wanted to disconnect the motor to leave it in the up position. I followed the cables to the antenna (left the coax alone, of course), and cut the 3 conductors that were leading to "a box" under the antenna. NOTE: This area in behind a metal panel.
As intended, the antenna is stuck in the up position. The problem is that I also lost the dash clock, the remote to the door locks stopped working, and the radio memory buttons do not work anymore (the radio comes on in AM every time).
AND here is the mystery; I went back to the cables, spliced them together (correctly - they are color coded) but NOTHING CAME BACK TO NORMAL. The radio is still messed up, remote still not working, and the dash clock is still off.

I am trying to install a 3 foot fiberglass cb antenna on a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck. I originally was installing on the hood, using the hood channel mount, but in order for me to be able to get in and out of the garage without hitting/damaging the antenna on the garage door, I was going to have to go down to a 2 foot antenna. I don't want to have to go down to a 2 foot unless I just have to, so I am willing to relocate the antenna to another location.
The problem is this. I am limited to the places I can relocate. I could simply relocate it and mount to the bed rail, but I have an Undercover tonneau cover that overlaps all the way over the sides. One place that I was thinking about trying was between the cab and the bed, mounting it vertically in the center on the bed side. I could temporarily remove the tonneau cover to make installing the vertical mount easier. Is there somewhere else I should consider mounting?

My wife and I recently purchased a 2014 prius c 4 here in Alberta. We have quickly realized that there is no remote starter option. How does one warm there car up and keep the doors locked on a smartkey system? Not comfortable leaving a car running unlocked. Vehicle is parked outside with plugin.

I just bought a used 2009 Camry, which has a remote starter installed, but my key will not operate it. From what I understand, the original owner lost the key that was programmed to work with it, and the replacement key does not. I have four keys: one is entirely metal, one is black plastic with no logo, one is black plastic with Toyota logo, and the last one has all the buttons which pop the trunk, and remotely lock and unlock the vehicle. I tried using the key with all the buttons to remotely start the car, but nothing happens.

I had an original Toyota remote starter installed when I bought my 2010 Prius. The dealer informed me at that time that the range was about 90 feet and that I be better with a jobber remote starter... I did stick with the Toyota because I didnt want another remote transmitter key with my keyfob and that the range was not a problem for me...
And winter came and the remote starter was working fine except that on one pretty cold winter morning it did not...and the next morning. It took a while for the dealer to find the problem...

I have a 1WARM-PRO Compustar remote starter on my 2006 CR-V. It sucks the charge out of my battery so I have to plug in my battery all winter when I'm at home to keep it charged. Every summer I go to the starter shop to have my remote starter turned off. Up until this year, the guy did something to turn it off that took a couple of minutes and he never charged me. He no longer works there. The new guy wants to charge me because he says he has to go under the dashboard. The other guy never went under the dashboard. How I could do this myself?

I drive a 2007 Toyota Camry, and I am attempting to install a remote car starter. I was told that I would need to get a valet key made in order to do this and I would also lose that valet key. Is this true? Why do I need a valet key made and why will I lose that key? Can the remote starter not be installed without using a key?
