Can't find a way to use a USB drive to play songs through the stereo system on an '06 avalon yet.
my '12 kia optima has this option and I love it: I hardly listen to the radio any longer and it certainly beats having to shuffle around CDs every few days. I guess I could try using an FM transmitter that has a built-in USB slot.
We have a 2010 Kia Sedona. My wife and daughter say that when they plug their iPods into the van, the iPods will only play the same two or three songs. This has been going on for many months. I don't have an iPod myself, and know nothing about them.
View 1 RepliesOccasionally, when I play songs, I hear my speakers kind of buzzing, where they sound like they are going bad.
Its super annoying, but I can't think how to replicate it. Any way to show them or what should I do?
My warranty would cover this, right?
Also, if I have installed footwell LEDs, might they argue about that effecting my warranty or anything?
Kind of stuck on a slight noise from the drive train on our 2007 Avy. It is not engine noise at a certain RPM it is from rolling at speed. I first rotated the tires and there was no difference at all. I thought it sounded like a CV going out so I replaced the left shaft. No luck. I could still hear it as it increases from nothing being stopped to being able to be felt slightly in the steering wheel either traveling straight or turning the worst between 60 and 65 MPH.
I replaced the right CV shaft and noticed slight wear in the support bearing and the support bearing bracket pinch bolt's rubber pad was worn in half. Ok, new CV shaft, new pinch bolt, tightened to specs, no luck. Ok, onto wheel bearings. I could still feel it in the steering wheel and it "sounded" like it was coming from the left side. I even rode as a passenger and moved about trying to get a better idea where it was coming from. I was convinced it was on the left so I pressed out the old bearing and installed new. No luck, same sound at the same speeds.
I replace the right wheel bearing (replacing a front wheel bearing on this car is not a fun job). Slightly better but still there. It's a subtle noise now but at the same speeds. I guess it could be a rear wheel bearing assembly but maybe I am missing something obvious.
I have a 2007 Avalon with 134000 miles. It makes a soft tap noise around the drive belt area. The drive belt looks good. I only hear this noise a slow idle. What do you think ?

View 10 RepliesI bought a new 2012 Sonata GS about a year ago. I have recently realized that the car should have the ability to play music from a usb stick. I would much prefer this to playing music through the phone as that eats up the battery and takes up a lot of room. Anyway I tried just dragging mp3 files into different artist folders on an empty usb drive and then plugging it into my car. Unfortunately the car was unable to read the music. are there any special formatting/ other things I should do to either the stick or the music that would allow the car to play the songs from the usb drive?
View 4 RepliesI am having trouble doing something that should be simple, playing music from flash drive. It reads the USB but says there are no supported audio files on the USB. I have reformatted to make sure it is fat32 format. My ipad works with my music files, why won't the USB read my music. It is the same music on the ipad.

View 3 RepliesI just noticed that my car's cassette player is not ejecting the cassette, not playing it ( means not lowering the cassette inside the deck to play it. Looks like some issue with stuck mechanism.
I want to remove the player open it and study waht's wrong, Is there a easy way to do so ? I can hear it clicking trying to activate the mechanism so it's getting power.
My car is 2005 camry XLE with JBL deck.
Trying to load the CD ... I put in 6 discs I've tried them label up, label down, Compact Disc Digital Audio, and regular CD-RI hear the changer making noise when installed. The system won't play the CDs. It just says "No CD" At one point it put up a "Bluetooth connectivity problem" message. The rest of nav sys seems to work. 2005 Nav Sys Factory Changer. I've never used it and just got the car.
View 8 RepliesRecently I've noticed that every time when shifting from park to drive and occasionally from reverse to drive in my 05 Golf GLS, I would have to remain off the gas for 3-4 seconds otherwise the car would jerk forward. If I press on the gas ever so slightly, the rpm would go up to around 1000 then jerk. Why this is happening?
View 2 RepliesHere's what happens to my car: If its in park you can floor the throttle and its smooth and quiet for the most part. Same with reverse. I can put it in reverse, back up hard and it's smooth. When i put it in drive, stationary, it sounds rough. When I'm taking off from a stop it sounds rough until I'm at a good cruising speed at which point it seems smooth, until stopped again … … The noise is rough in both drive and reverse. Note: this stops for about a day after hoisting the rear end. Also, when going down the highway, the throttle "pauses " for a moment, then resumes speed about every 5 minutes ...

View 2 RepliesI recently bought a 2005 Toyota Avalon Xls with 90k miles on it. The car has been averaging a very disappointing mpg of 11-12 in the city and around 17 on the highway. (much lower than the advertised 22/30 mpg)
At first i thought the mpg gauge could be malfunctioning, so i calculated it myself and ended up with same result: 11 mpg in the city. I haven't taken it to a mechanic yet, but plan on doing so ASAP. What could be causing this issue.
I have a 2011 Avalon Limited, and recently the VSC warning light came on (and is still on). Following some of the advice on accessing codes (like jumping ports on the OBD2 plug) I ended up getting codes that said my #7 cylinder had intake issues. Funny...I don't recall seeing a V8 under my hood.
I am hesitant to take the car to the local Toyota mega-dealership because of the excessive amount wanted to simply read the codes. How I might either access codes for the 2011 or even how to clear the light in order to see if it returns or not.
I had new tires put on, front end alignment done, had to have tires rebalanced and still major shaking between 40 -60 mph. What it could be??

Not warm, muggy, outside air, but HOT air. Then, if you shut it off for a few minutes, you can turn it back on & it works normally.
I forgot all about it, since it only happened twice, once late at night, once midday.
Today, a friend, who was on that trip said he came across a something in newspaper about a fix for this, but now can't find it.
I am getting ready to drop the transmission pan on my 2006 Avalon XL, clean the pan and magnets, replace the transmission filter and gasket, and refil with WS fluid. How to remove the three or so bolts on the transmission pan that are blocked by the subframe connector (or whatever is blocking the bolts)? I plan on buying a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench in order to perform the job. Is there anything else that I need to be aware of when doing this?
