How to turn off automatic volume control on a 2012 Toyota Avalon with no navigation unit. I just purchased this Avalon and noticed this morning as I drove and listened to music that the volume keeps going up and down as I accelerate and decelerate. I cannot find anything in my owners manual on how to turn off the automatic volume control.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2012 Avalon Limited with the automatic temperature control. It used to be that the recirculation function was controlled automatically. The recirculation function would come on when ever the outside temp was hot enough and the inside temp setting was low enough. This is also how my 2000 Avalon XLS works and how my 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition works. Both have the automatic air conditioning system. Now the recirculation function must be turned on manually in order for it work. This has just been happening for the last 3-4 months. The dealer service writer tells me that all 2010 through 2012 Avalons with the automatic temp control Air Conditioning require the recirculation function to be controlled manually. Is this really true?
The manual makes no mention of this requirement to control the recirculation function manually. The manual says that the recirculation function MAY be controlled manually, but, when the A/C is on automatic temp control, the recirculation function is turned on and off by the A/C, depending upon the outside air temperature and the interior vehicle temp setting chosen on the A/C front panel.
My 04 navigation unit started coding check DVD and error; I took it to my dealer who advised that the Unit is defective and is causing a ridge to form on the control disk. Dealer advised to call the Toyota 800 number due to my 36K warranty is gone. Called toyota and they referred me back to my dealer who is giving me the stall.

View 5 RepliesThe car is a Taurus Wagon. It does not put out any heat. It is a flapper door issue. I tried changing the blend door actuator as the old one did not move when the temperature was changed from cold to hot. Unfortunately the NEW one doesn't either, nor does it move when left hanging, not in the dash. It is an automatic temperature control unit. When I had the actuator out from under the dash, I could move the blend doors easily with the little lever, and get excellent heat, so I know it's not a heater core issue.
Everything on the dash unit, which includes the stereo/radio controls and buttons to shift the air from floor to defrost seems to work fine. It shows the desired temp, but won't go to it. I have checked two fuses that are supposed to feed the HVAC system. I have even installed a different dash unit from another Taurus to see if it made any difference. That included a second temperature sensor, the "Y" shaped thing near where the white hose connects to the back side of dash unit.
I admit, I'm lost. I don't have a good wiring diagram, and don't know if I could read it well enough if I did.
Is there a relay or something in the system between the controller and the actuator that I don't know about?
Which wire or wires in the multi-pin connector that plugs into the blend door actuator are supposed to be hot at what point?
I have a 2005 Prius and need a new navigation unit and I found a place I can order online, however I did something not so bright I ordered for a 2007 Prius. I need to know if a 2007 navigation unit will work in a 2005?

View 2 RepliesWhile driving to Calif. from Ariz., on I 10, dropping down into Indio on a mild grade, at 75mph, when I came to the steepest section the transmission down shifted, rpm's rose and it felt like the engine was keeping the mph at the set speed, by providing more drag which it did. I have had many auto with transmissions and cruise control, been descending steeper grades, and never have had this happen. The vehicle is a 2014 Avalon. It would be a nice feature if it had been designed to do this auto braking, but I don't think that it ia supposed to do this?

View 1 RepliesI've had a 2012 Limited for a few months now and love it, especially the quiet nature of the interior cabin. Ironically it was because of that I started to hear a noise that has become quite irritating. It was clearly coming from the CD / Navigation system and began (or at least that's when I first noticed it) after I installed a music CD for the first time. The noise sounded like the CD player was constantly searching for a CD so I filled all 4 CD slots, but the noise continued. I called my dealer and of course they have never heard of this issue before (do they take classes and rehearse that line, they deliver it so convincingly no matter how ridiculous it makes them look!) I have now removed the Navi DVD and that is clearly the source as the noise has stopped. My question, is this normal or do I have a service issue here?

First we thought it was missing the DVD then we discovered the DVD port in the truck and through some trial and error got the DVD (#U52) out. We are proceeding with the logic that the DVD is bad.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Matrix. The radio volume control knob does not change the volume. The volume is just constantly stuck at a set volume (luckily a reasonably soft one). I pulled the knob plastic cap off and sprayed some contact cleaner in there but nothing changed. What caused this problem and what I can try? I have taken the radio out and opened it (changed led bulbs) before so I feel comfortable doing that and tinkering around.
View 6 RepliesWe just got the car and I know for fact the CC worked before. Now I don't even get a light when pushing the on/off button on the end of that incredibly weak column arm.
Is there a fuse, or relay? I checked under the hood in the fuse/relay box everything there seems fine, although I don't know if 1 of those relays controls the CC?
2006 Avalon
I took my Avalon to get Dyno'd to see if module I foolishly bought actually provided any horsepower gains. Much to my dismay, I could not Dyno the car without the module because the traction control wouldn't allow, seeing as the rear wheels were not moving. Apparently, there is no switch for the traction control, but is there another way to disengage it...?

Then a few miles down the road, I'd hit it again and it would work just fine. Today I tried to turn it on and nothing. Three different trips today and no luck.
