I know this is trivial, but the manual says that to get all 4 doors to open with one click on the FOB instead of twice, you need to take it to the dealer. I recently got an 05' XLS with the key FOB, and a key for the ignition. How to change the door unlock mechanism to unlock all 4 doors with one click.
View 6 RepliesI have an 06 Limited with the smart key, and am trying to find out if there is a way to lock the doors automatically. It seems there's all kinds of things the smart key can do, but this isn't one of them. Between the Engine Immobilizer and the smart key, they can be set to do everything automatically except lock the doors. I know the smart key can lock the doors from the outside, but you have to press the door lock button on the smart key which isn't much of an improvement over just sticking a dumb key into the door lock.

View 12 RepliesI am a new member here with 2011 Avalon Limited just bought last weekend. I was exploring all the features and options. Few questions are coming out from my exploration. What I have noticed that there is no Trunk Open indicator light on the dash nor any message on the NAV display. I left the trunk open and drove couple minutes, no light, no beep, no alarm... The instrument cluster has only door open indicator light that tells us one of the doors is open but which one, no indication... I believe, 2005-2010 Avalon has this indicator message with specific door shows on the center display screen. I tried to find this out on the manual real quick but couldn't find any. Am I missing anything somewhere? Or is there any trick to turn on any indicator light or alarm beep or message somewhere for trunk open? Or 2011 Avalon doesn't have this feature at all?
Next is, all the buttons are non-illuminated, such as Trunk Release, Gas cap release, Rear sunshade, Moonroof switch, Book light button, Dome light button, even the memory seat buttons are not illuminated. Are all the previous Avalon models have these buttons non-illuminated?
On the other hand, My 2013 Accord EXL and 2008 Odyssey have all these buttons illuminated and instrument cluster indicates which door is open including trunk. These two issues are the disappointment so far, Avalon is a higher class vehicle than Accord and expensive too, at least I expected these features as standard on Avalon. Other than these its a great driving car.
I went to open the door that holds the nav controls and it open half way then stops. I pulled as hard as I dared to without breaking it.
View 2 RepliesI've got an '05 burb that for a couple weeks now the interior lights will not come on when you open any doors. Just tonight I went to start it and it took a couple tries and finally did, but I noticed that the clock had been reset almost like the battery had been drained.
I drove it to my destination and just let it run for about 30 min thinking it needed to charge (nothing had drained it that was obvious to me). I had to go back out and it did the same thing, started hesitantly and the clock had been reset.
For the past few weeks on my '11 Ltd. when I turn the engine off & open the door the chime starts; doesn't do it all the time, just occasionally, & I can't figure out why. I've tried turning the ignition off with my foot off the brake, on the brake & neither way seems to make a difference. Sometime it chimes sometime it doesn't. I've checked to make sure the seat belt warning chime is off, even though that doesn't make any sense, the seat belt is not the door open warning. how to stop the chiming?
View 2 RepliesReplaced the battery on my 07 the other day, and subsequently discovered my passenger side power window would not open or close from driver side control switch. Initially thought the worse of course, that I needed a new motor for the passenger side window. Then I tried the passenger side window switch and the window worked fine.
So now, I think that the switch for the passenger side window (on the driver's side) is bad, and I will need to replace the whole switch control module. Did a search and found the root cause and solution to the problem. Apparently, after replacing a battery, I needed to RESET the passenger side switch from the passenger side, by HOLDING the switch approx. 3 seconds after raising and lowering the window two times.
A couple months back my avalon started refusing to start, lights would come on with the key, but when i turned it, nothing but a click. after a few tries it would eventually start and run, usually for the day without issue again. After a while it got worse, and I had the battery tested. It was dead. So i replaced it. The car would still click the first couple times but start more readily then it had previously. Fast forward 2 weeks. I go to start my car, it does its clicking thing, then nothing. The whole car just dies. no lights, no clock, nothing. I gave it a minute and it came back on with dimmed lights and the antitheft system (which goes off if the battery is disconnected) goes off.
since then, i have successfully started the car 2x, but after each shut off, the clicking and no start issue returns. The battery cables are free of corrosion and its a brand new battery. I have seen issues with the starters and alternators on these cars on forums before, however with mine intermittently working, its slightly different. at least to my limited mechanical knowledge.
I have seen starter rebuild kits for fairly cheap online and alternator replacement options that look to be fairly easy with the tools that i have access to.
I currently have an 05 Limited X and I've also noticed this on other 05 X's as well. The front driver and passenger side doors near the lower end with the cladding doesn't seem to match up with the rear doors. This goes for both driver and passenger front doors. I at first thought maybe it was just on the X I have but this is something I've taken notice of on just about all of the 05 Limited's I've looked at. What I'm referring to with the front doors being popped out a small bit and not matching up or being perfectly aligned with the rear doors?
I've had an 01 Limited and the doors wasn't anywhere near how mis-aligned they seem to be on the 05 Limited's. I haven't checked years between or XLT's. But on almost or pretty much all 05 Limited's I'm noticing this. Some are not as bad as others or as noticeable as others. But for some reason they all seem to pop out a little towards the bottom. When I speak of doors I'm referring to the doors itself, not the cladding/molding sticking out.
Any way to program my Prius to unlock all the doors with one click of the FOB?
View 10 RepliesI have a 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Touring Model.
The vehicle is great, however the clicking noise from the wiper relay is obnoxious. It is only when the intermittent wiper setting is applied that the noise is apparent. You can also duplicate it by manually moving the wiper knob up and down. I showed the dealer this twice, and both times they say it is normal. I will take a video later today and post it to show.
On my 95 Honda Accord 4-door (>400K miles), every time the doors are locked, the servos click 25 to 60 times about once a second. Like a loud ticking clock. The doors are locked OK, but the clicks sound like the mechanism is wearing itself out. Is there an easy fix? It may be related to installation a few weeks ago of a new alarm system that included a remote control lock. I haven't had time to have the alarm company look at it.

View 5 RepliesMy 2013 is 9 months old and over time I've noticed whenever I lock my doors. My passenger side rear door does an extra click. Sounds like it's locking twice, an extra one after the original click.It's not a huge deal, I just hear it every time and I wonder if it could turn into an issue with locking etc.. Don't have a problem bringing it into the dealer for a look.

Brought it to service and they were just closing, but technician looked quickly and didn't know problem and told me to come back tomorrow. I called Blue Link and they didn't have a clue either. I tried the remote, the trunk release in the car and the release under the trunk itself. I hear a click but it won't open. I even tried the second remote.
