Avalon 2005-12 :: Air Flow From Heater Always Comes From Dash Vents

On my 2006 The air flow from the heater always comes from the dash vents no matter where the control is set. What is needed to correct this?

View 14 RepliesI have a 1997 Toyota Camry and recently the air flow from the heater has become stuck on the front vents. Regardless of what setting I turn the switch to (defrost, floor, etc.) it doesn't switch from the vents. It seemed to happen about the same time the thermostat died, which I had to replace (successfully I think).
I looked under the hood for a vacuum hose that might be disconnected (guessing) and under the dash for a wire that might have come loose or disconnected, but to no avail. I am guessing that some part on the heater has stopped working and needs replaced, but I haven't a clue as to which one...hopefully one that won't require pulling the dash off.
When the A/C is on in this car, the air flow is split between the defrost vents and the dash vents. I have read it may be a vacuum leak but don't know specifically where to look for it. Is there any way to manually redirect the air flow? Where to look for a vacuum leak? The air is cool but just misdirected.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2005 F250 with an intermittent AC problem. I had noticed over the past year that I only had high or low fan when adjusting my AC. Recently my AC has intermittently just not started blowing any air when I turn it on. When this occurs, I can put the fan on high and hear the clutch engage, however no air flow comes from the vents. I did some searching around and didn't find an answer. I was curious, where I might be best to start troubleshooting.
View 8 RepliesNoticed a deodorized smell coming from dash vents when heater put on? After my 30k service I noticed the smell of deodorizer.
View 6 RepliesI've got a 2006 Avalon coming up to 30 K, bought it last summer. Starting to use the heater now, and it doesn't seem to work well. Have to turn it to 80 to get heat, not cold air, etc...
View 5 RepliesComing home from work tonight, Radio turned down, Air off/Heat off. Whats the sound coming from the dash around the radio/heater controls/ vents? Can't really explain the noise, but its like a boiling/clicking/scratching noise.
View 14 RepliesI have a 05 Avalon XLS and I've just discovered an issue with my climate control. It's that time of year that things are warming up so we started using A/C and found that driver's side vents are blowing warm air while passenger side vents are blowing cold. I've tried varied temps and dual mode on and off as well as auto and manual control. Nothing makes a difference. I suspect some sort of thermostat for the driver's side, but I really have no clue.
View 1 RepliesI noticed for the last couple weeks, my wife's 05 Limited has developed some kind of buzzing sound around the dash on start up.
In the morning, once I get in and press engine start, there is a buzzing, d...zzz..d....d..zzz.zzz.... noise coming from the dash area. I turned the car off and restart, it went away. It happened once a while. This morning, same noise, I kept on driving, probably after 30 sec, it stopped..
I've had my Avalon at the Toyota shop more than 12 times with the same problem...a/c light on dash flashes off and on. The A/C system shuts down. Sometimes the command center says check A/C.
We have gone through the replace game, compressor twice, relay four times, too much refrigerant-to little refrigerant multiple times and loose wire multiple times.
This is supposed to be a Toyota Certified car if that means anything. The car has 86,000 miles.
My buddy's '05 will not blow out of the dash vents, you can make the a/c blow out the defrost or the floor but no dash. Vacuum pump is working great, rarely ever kicks on and doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere in the system that I can tell yet. Pulling a vacuum on the red line will make it start blowing out the vents so the door is functioning.
I thought maybe I had narrowed it down to the ATC solenoid and manifold (Ford part #5c3z-19d611-aa) not working properly but found that the F-150 guys having problems with the o-rings on the back of the control head. Seems they replace the 4 o-rings and all is well, cheap easy fix. Are the units on the diesel set up that way too?
A quick search for EATC problems on the diesels didn't bring up much, seems they don't tend to fail. He's wanting to sell it and asked if I could try and fix the problem. It's been about a year since I last looked at it, so my recollection might be a bit foggy.
I have a 2005 limited with 45000 miles. It sits in the garage most of the time. A couple of days ago I went shopping and I noticed the area around the passenger airbag was shiny. I could only see it when the sun hit just right. I wonder if it is the defective dash.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Limited and the center console and dash around the nav system is very brittle and makes a crinkling noise when touched slightly. I can pop the shifter bazel and all the surrounding plastic off with a slight finger pressure. Over bumps and when I'm driving with side pressure from my legs everything makes noise.
View 8 RepliesJust started happening this weekend, I can hear air moving and it changes speeds, however I get no flow out of the vents.
I'm at 42k so I'm hoping it isn't a major issue, also tried searching but couldn't find a similar issue. I am pressed for time because I'm leaving for a 2500 mile round trip Wednesday.
I'll add a photo of the controls where I get zero air flow, minus some cold air.
Problem since new but now I am in cold climate. Seems like there is minimal air flow from vents even if I will set fan to max.. . Dealer does not believe. On the parking flow is present but during driving 70-80 just minimal. I hear the rumble of the fan but air does not come out. Temp setting may be set to 85 but temp inside the car is not above high 60's. I can only survive using heated seats.
View 2 RepliesNoticed this, do I have a flaw? When I turn the AC or heater fan off and I'm driving I have constant air flow coming out the vents, super annoying....
View 10 RepliesI have a 2003 Forester that has low air flow thru the vents if you try to use the AC or heater.
If you turn the speed from 1-4 you can hear the blower fan turning faster but the air coming out of the vents is very low. YOu can hardly feel it. I checked to see if there was a cabin filter and there was none.
Even though you can barely feel the air coming out, when on AC the air feels cold and when on heat it feels hot.
I took my Prius Two to its first car wash today, afterwards, the air flow from the vents became minimal, almost non-existent. How could this be? The car is barely two months old. Prior to the car wash, I had the AC and air blasting to the highest, I didn't change any fan settings, and now there's barely any air coming out. I can hear the fans churning and running, but there's no air!!! Do I take it to the dealer?
View 2 RepliesHave a 02 with climatronic. You put it on vent and it blows out the vent. You press floor and it goes ape and the fan goes to max and nothing comes out the vents and nothing comes out the floor. IF you put it on floor only there is flow like normal. You can not have it on floor and vent. I drove 2 other passats and they both allow floor and vent. Havent been able to check codes because car has been at dealer for a week.
View 8 RepliesI have a 1996 Ford Aerostar 3L. The Air Vents in the cabin are not flowing any air, whether on cold/hot/vent/defrost etc. I can hear it click on but no air flow. I used to have the same problems as some previous posts where the air would only flow in the dash or in the floor but now no air at all. Fuses are all good.
View 5 RepliesI have a grand prix and am having problems with the air flow. I think that the diverter is stuck/broke as air flow blows through all vents (defroster, 4 dash vents and floor). When I turn the switch that tells where the air to blow out, nothing happens. In the summer, the A/C works but since it comes out the floor vent my toes get cold. Does this sound like the diverter is stuck? Is there a way I could make the diverter only come out the dash vents? The car has 180K miles and I don't want to invest much money to fix this (i.e. taking to dealer).
