Experienced the problem of a flashing defrost button and the entire HVAC system "frozen"? All the other buttons become useless while the defrost button is flashing on and off. If I then hold either the a/c button or the auto button, the system starts up at 75 degrees with the air running. I can then adjust to where I want it to be.

On startup, the front button on the climate control flashes for several seconds. The system will not heat on the left side, but the right will.
I have an 06 Limited. My rear window takes about 15min to defrost in 40 degree weather. And only about 70% of the window is clear. Im not sure if this is the case with all avalons or just mine as i got it about a month ago. My 02 civic si was defrosting in about 5min. Im having trouble thinking that a civic has a better convenience feature than an avalon.
View 3 RepliesJust purchased a 2016 Avalon Touring. I am very happy with the car except for the nav screen. It seems that only split screen display is possible; either 2 or 3 panels. Is it possible to have full screen display for the nav system. The 800 number for Toyota said no.

View 1 RepliesI am sure this is pure coincidence but we had to have a new battery put in my wife's '09 Avalon. Later in the day we noticed that the front window switch for the passenger window on the drivers side, does not work. The one on the passenger door works fine so it's not the motor. How difficult are these to replace? BTW, the window lock switch is NOT on.

View 2 RepliesI noticed that no matter whether it's on recirc or vent when I shut down the car, our '06 Touring's HVAC will always default to recirc when I turn it on. Is there a way to keep it from doing this? It drives me nuts, because I hate having recirc on.

View 4 RepliesI've got a 2008 Avalon with about 136,000 miles on it. Lately the hvac fan has been making a slight ticking sound that increases/decreases with the change in fan speed on the ac/heater setting. The other week it just didn't work all together until I tapped it lightly and it started back up. The ticking is starting to get worse.
I'm thinking of replacing this myself as the dealership wants about 400 for this and I can get a replacement fan assembly for about 120 online. Do I just remove the glove box and crawl in the passenger floor board area to do this or am I looking at some dash removal?
We have a 2007 Avalon XL with 65K miles that we bought 2 years ago from my parents with 40K miles. Last summer at about 50k miles it developed a clunking noise in the left front when you hit a bump. An independent Toyota mechanic diagnosed it as a bad upper front strut mount and he wanted to change the struts along with the mounts. We didn't have the money so we waited.
When I put the snow tires on in the fall, the noise went away. All I did was install a winter set of wheel/tires and I also turned the wheel/tire left-to-right to see if I could find anything loose but I didn't.
The noise came back about a month ago so when I had the snow tires rotated I asked our tire mechanic to check it out. He said he couldn't find anything definite but thought it was the sway bar links. We didn't have him change them because he wasn't sure.
Now the noise is gone again and we have just put new tires on it. I want to have an alignment because the previous set of tires wore more on the inside but am afraid to have it aligned if we need to replace some parts first. What could be causing this intermittent left front clunking noise?
I have noticed if I turn on the AC and set it to any front defrost setting (either full front defrost or mix front defrost and lower vents) and turn up the heat that when I turn it on the next day there is a horrible smell. If I run the AC and turn the temperature up there is no smell so long as I don't use any setting using the front defrost. The smell is bad enough that I have to open the windows to air out the car. After a few minutes the smell goes away.
The car is an '06 XL. I noticed it intermittently when I first got it two years ago, but this winter the smell happens every time I use the AC on any front defrost mode. My guess is the heating element under the front windshield. If I turn on the heat without the AC on any front defrost setting I do not have the problem.
When ignition is turned on the front defrost light blinks fo 30 second before the climate control screen initializes. Then the temp defaults to 75 degrees instead of the last teperatue / mode selected. Only dash vents blow regardless of mode selection. Dealer report was inoperative servo motor. my inspection, visual was that all three servo motors power and move to default position when battery power is restored. It seems that the command to the center servo motor is not correct.
View 1 RepliesThe weather here in AB Canada is very cold lately -30oC. I have noticed a whistling noise from the front window defrost area. The auto feature also annoys me as the fan goes full throttle when I start the vehicle and it isn't even warm. I wish it would scale up as the engine was warm only. As well, I am finding the inside of my t-reg fogs easily. Yes it's cold, and I do park in a heated garage, but even after being out for a while, I still get some fogging.
View 3 RepliesI am owner of brand new Golf Sportsvan 1.4 92kw petrol, 6 speed manual. Since day two ive been noticeing that something might be wrong with my car. Second day of ownership i was greeted by TPMS, ESC, Auto hold and Stop start system error all at once, and parking sensors were beeping and button was flashing. Ive been reading about it and its not new for MK7 owners as i can understand. But what worries me most is the revs when the engine is cold and i start it up first time. Did a video and uploaded it. [URL] .....
Weird thing is i only get errors when its cold start, i mean for example yesterday and today it was cold here (-5 degrees celcsius) and car started up with no errors, but the revs where bouncing up and down like seen on video. Sometimes i get those 4 errors aswell and rev problem, sometimes only rev problem, but when the engine is at the working temperature i get no errors, no shakey revs.
Otherwise love the car. Solid build quality, Spacious, Like the pyramid gold color, lovely car, beside those gremlins.
06 limited. I lost the Toyota book that has the procedure in it to change the smartkey system's door handle button to unlock all of the doors instead of just the drivers door.
View 5 RepliesI was wondering from the community if they ever hear a "motor" sound or like a "leveling" sound coming from the steering/instrument cluster area after you press the keyless start button (not starting the car). To me I was thinking it's like the car is maybe moving the steering column kinda like how luxury cars move the steering away to allow people to get in and out. But I don't believe the steering wheel is powered since I adjust it using the levers. Just wondering what this sound is for, worried something isn't right with that.
View 6 RepliesMy wife has a 2005 toyota camry with about 84000 miles. She had been complaining of intermittent issues but no one could find the cause till yesterday. Her front brakes were froze and would not release. I took it to the shop and they said the left front was hung and the pad came off and chewed the rotor up. They suggested a brake job. Well in the process of replacing rotors and pads on the front they could not get the caliper to release. Make a long story short, the rotor and pads are changed but the front brakes will not release. They checked the lines and they look good.
View 7 RepliesHeard a 'what was that ' noise as I was backing out of the garage this morning. Can't see any cause, but when I looked at the gear selector image on the dash, the letter 'R' had a square around it and the square is flashing . No other letters have a square .
