Avalon 2005-12 :: 2007 Limited Engine Cuts Off When Air Turned On?
Aug 12, 2015
Problem just started last night when I turned the defroster on. Now the engine cuts off when the air is turned on at lower speed/rpms.

View 4 RepliesOk...I've been reading about Michelin tires on the forum and unfortunately, I just bought my 07' Limited with a brand new set of Kelly "Charger" Tires. So, I took a trip last week and noticed at 55-73 mph, the car rides nice, smooth, and quiet. However, when I hit 74 or 75 mph, I began hearing a road noise that sounds as if the tires have hit a certain oscillatory air resonance at this speed.
I'm wondering if it's due to the tire tread pattern or something else. Strangest damn thing. When I accelerate faster, the noise seems to diminish a little but still isn't smooth and quiet. Maybe I'm just drowning it out some while it accelerates. When I bring it back down below 74 mph, it goes nice and quiet again.
I have the tire pressures set at 40 psi (trying to get a little extra fuel mileage). However, I'm wondering if this might cause the problem...I believe the pressure should be between 35-38 psi. My TPMS light hasn't lit up, so I guess it doesn't see fault with an extra 2 psi. Anyway, the tires appear to be a quality tire. I looked they show the following ratings.
My beloved 07 Avalon is in the process of getting totaled because someone (NOT ME) didn't bother to see if there was any oncoming traffic before turning. But I digress.
I'm 99% I'll be replacing it with another 07 Limited, and I have to finish cleaning it out of all my belongings tomorrow. In short, I'm taking everything out of it I can, including my satellite receiver. Looking at the procedures for installing the 06 and 09 (which I could find easily online) it looks like all I need to do is:
- remove the panel on the right inside of the trunk
- remove the receiver unit by unscrewing the 2 10 mm nuts
- unplug the receiver
Is there anything else I should grab while I'm in there? And, how hard is it to remove the panel in the trunk?
I have an '07 Avalon Limited with the heated/ventilated front seats. The drivers seat just does not seem to cool properly, and what the problem might be. Occasionally when I put my hand on the seat I can feel a tiny amount of air blowing through the perforations, but most of the time it's not nearly enough to cool through a pair of jeans, and I can't even tell that it's on.
View 3 RepliesI've had my Avalon at the Toyota shop more than 12 times with the same problem...a/c light on dash flashes off and on. The A/C system shuts down. Sometimes the command center says check A/C.
We have gone through the replace game, compressor twice, relay four times, too much refrigerant-to little refrigerant multiple times and loose wire multiple times.
This is supposed to be a Toyota Certified car if that means anything. The car has 86,000 miles.
2006 Avalon Limited: getting a P0015 code. My mechanic says it has to do with cam sensors(?) "cam pos actuator b bank 1: timing over retarded." Dealer told mechanic that they've never seen one of these sensors go and to check the wiring harness for damage; mechanic found none. 153,000 miles.
View 7 RepliesI have an 06 Limited with the smart key, and am trying to find out if there is a way to lock the doors automatically. It seems there's all kinds of things the smart key can do, but this isn't one of them. Between the Engine Immobilizer and the smart key, they can be set to do everything automatically except lock the doors. I know the smart key can lock the doors from the outside, but you have to press the door lock button on the smart key which isn't much of an improvement over just sticking a dumb key into the door lock.
View 2 RepliesAfter searching the forums about other owners with the dreaded rear shade buzzing, I am trying to located the fuse to disconnect the rear shade. I will remove the rear seat if I need to but would rather not go through the hassle.
The fuse panel is different than the posts for the 2005/2006 non-limited
The picture is attached [URL] ......
On my sister's 2009 avalon unlimited, the remote will only unlock the rear drivers side door. If the door handle is grasped to unlock the doors, only the rear drivers side door unlocks. On the inside of the car, the drivers side door unlock switch (master switch) does nothing. The passengers side door unlock switch only unlocks the rear drivers side door. The bottom line is that only the rear drivers side door locks and unlocks using the remote or passenger side door unlock button on the inside of the vehicle.
View 5 RepliesI am driving a 2007 Avalon XLS with about 71,000 miles. These lights came on together yesterday. After consulting this forum, I checked the gas cap and found it was indeed loose (or at least had not been engaged with any of the "required" three clicks.) I closed the gas cap tightly and restarted the car. The lights promptly came back on.
I drove to AutoZone where someone pulled the codes: P0306 and P0356. They gave me a printout suggesting the number 6 cylinder was misfiring (P0306) and an ignition coil circuit fault (P0356).
Took my 07 Avalon Touring to the dealer because of a check engine light. They replaced coil and plugs, but also told me unbalanced wheels had caused the computer to throw a code. As Click and Clack would say, this sounds bogus. I'm feeling no vibration and the wheels were balanced about 3 months ago.
View 3 RepliesCheck engine and VSC lights came on wife's car, took to dealer, they hooked up computer and now stating that the Evap system has a leak. They want to replace the Charcoal Canister and they are quoting $900.00.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Avalon ltd. 60,000 mi. I love my car! the low beam
Headlight on the drivers side goes on but then after approx. 30-45 seconds goes out. The passenger side and the brights are ok.
How do you replace the low beam bulb? which bulb do I purchase?
Is there a video showing the way to get at and remove/replace the bulb.
When ignition is turned on the front defrost light blinks fo 30 second before the climate control screen initializes. Then the temp defaults to 75 degrees instead of the last teperatue / mode selected. Only dash vents blow regardless of mode selection. Dealer report was inoperative servo motor. my inspection, visual was that all three servo motors power and move to default position when battery power is restored. It seems that the command to the center servo motor is not correct.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to enable the outlets in the center console to be powered with the car turned off in an '05 Avalon?
View 4 RepliesI have a 05 Avalon XLS and I've just discovered an issue with my climate control. It's that time of year that things are warming up so we started using A/C and found that driver's side vents are blowing warm air while passenger side vents are blowing cold. I've tried varied temps and dual mode on and off as well as auto and manual control. Nothing makes a difference. I suspect some sort of thermostat for the driver's side, but I really have no clue.
View 1 RepliesWhere do I find the build date for my 14 avalon hybrid limited?
View 4 RepliesI've had an annoying rattle with the rear window sunshade. Toyota has attempted to fix it three times and it is still there. I drive with the sunshade down.
View 8 RepliesI am the new owner of a 2014 Avalon Hybrid limited.
I am pretty exited about the new car. I just have questions about the hybrid battery.
I got the car on Saturday and we drove about 40 miles to get home. The car had 12 miles so it's pretty low. The battery was low when we got the car so the engine charged it up a bit. By the time we got home, the hybrid battery never got to fully charge.
Hence my first questions.
What are the perfect conditions to fully charge the battery?
How much time would it take to fully charge it?
Then, my next question.
I was pretty sure that when we parked the car on Saturday night and Sunday, the battery charge level was pretty high. At least half way.
However, when i got to use the car in the morning, the battery level was at 2 bars to my surprise.
Is the battery supposed to deplete like that?
I have a 2008 ES that I'm thinking of trading in for a 300H. However, a couple of things bug me about the ES 300H - primarily the small size of the trunk - meaning that our suitcases would not fit in the trunk - and if you can't take a nice new car on a trip, then you start questioning what it is that you're doing.
So, I've been looking online at the 2016 Avalon Hybrid Limited, and I'm extremely impressed with what is being offered on that Limited model. It's priced in the mid $40,000's, but it comes with the complete list of options that the Lexus offers - including a larger trunk.
The feedback I'm looking for are comparisons, advantages, and disadvantages between the Lexus 300H and the Avalon Limited.
When driving on a freeway, the navigation system splits the screen to show a list of upcoming freeway exits. For some reason, the list does not show major interstate highway exits, e.g I95, I495. So, for example, if the exit for I95 is exit 5, the list goes from exit 4 right to exit 6 without listing exit 5.
I have read every page of the owners manual several time looking for a setting that may correct this, and have searched Toyota Nation archives looking for a solution, but I can't find anything.
This is for a 2014 Avalon Limited.
