I've got a 2006 Avalon coming up to 30 K, bought it last summer. Starting to use the heater now, and it doesn't seem to work well. Have to turn it to 80 to get heat, not cold air, etc...

View 14 RepliesMy '11 Limited has a trunk light that isn't working. I figured it was a bad bulb so replaced it (the old bulb's filament wasn't broken tho). Nope, still didn't work. So I took out the entire little bulb holder to check for bad connections, corrosion, etc. .....the connections are fine. Next I got my volt/ohm meter and checked for DC voltage at the plug coming into the unit.....I got 12.83 volts. So I hooked a jumper directly from the plug to a bulb's contacts and still no light.
What am I missing here ? How can I read voltage at the meter and not have the juice to light a tiny bulb?
how to fix this or test them ? could it be a fuse ?
View 10 RepliesWhen AC is on "Auto" the fan runs at slowest speed unless outside temp is over 100 degrees or setting is below 64 degrees. With setting left at 70 or 71 degrees, and outside temp is 80 or higher, cabin temp will slowly rise when driving in traffic and will slowly fall at speeds over 60, but not reach set temp until driving over an hour plus.
If fan is manually adjusted to higher speed, "Auto" system shuts off and AC becomes totally manual control. If the "Auto" button is touched, fan goes off again and the system will not do any of the automatic functions spelled out in manual.
Two different dealers have advised that ALL 2014 Avalons are like this and so it is considered "normal" regardless of what manual says and they and Toyota Customer Service refuse to do anything about it. What is the experience of other 2014 owners.
I had a burned out left low beam headlight on my 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS yesterday. I have the halogen (2006) type bulbs. Today I purchased two new low beam bulbs and installed both sides new while I was at it. I had disconnected the battery and replaced both bulbs. Now the headlights (both hi and low beam) work perfectly in the auto as well as on manual mode, however my fogs lights now don't work. The fog lights worked last night prior to replacement of the low beam bulbs. So I checked for continuity of the fuse and both fog light bulbs and all were OK.
View 1 RepliesI just got a new battery installed from Walmart for my 2007 Avalon. After replacing the battery I am experiencing a wide variety of electrical problems. The car starts fine that's not the problem. Here's a lost of all of the problems:
Navigation display now goes I wired directions...it used to follow the direction the car was going
Passenger window does not work at all
Driver side window works but the auto function does not work
Sun roof auto feature does not work so you have to hold the button the whole time as opposed to just pressing it once
What could have caused this?? I haven't tried cleaning the terminals or anything yet.
I have a 2007 Limited and the remote start function does not want to work. I press the correct sequence on the key fob and I hear a click but no "starter" activity.
View 7 RepliesI am sure this is pure coincidence but we had to have a new battery put in my wife's '09 Avalon. Later in the day we noticed that the front window switch for the passenger window on the drivers side, does not work. The one on the passenger door works fine so it's not the motor. How difficult are these to replace? BTW, the window lock switch is NOT on.

View 8 RepliesI have a 2006 Dodge Caravan, My AC unit works great. With the heater, it will work for 2-3 minutes, at which point it starts to blow cool air. I can leave it running, but it never gets warm again, if I turn the fan off for 3-5 minutes, when I turn it back on, I get a good amount of heat that goes for about 2-3 minutes before blowing cold air again.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata and just a few weeks ago the AC/Heater Blower would only work on full blast. You actually had to have the control set a little before the full setting to get it to come on. Both the heat and the AC worked. Now, nothing is coming out on any speed setting. I've replaced the blower resistor and checked the fuses/relay and they seem fine.
View 2 RepliesI just changed the ATF fluid and filter on a 2006 Avalon. I added a little over 4 quarts, maybe 4.1 quarts. How to check it if there is the proper ATF amount. There are 4 notches on the transmission dip stick. Do I leave it running or not. How do I check it??!
View 8 RepliesWe just got the car and I know for fact the CC worked before. Now I don't even get a light when pushing the on/off button on the end of that incredibly weak column arm.
Is there a fuse, or relay? I checked under the hood in the fuse/relay box everything there seems fine, although I don't know if 1 of those relays controls the CC?
2006 Avalon
I have a 2006 Avalon XLS. Great car. Came with 1 cut master key and 2 remotes. I bought two blanks off amazon with the right transponder chip and had them cut for $5. Now I need to use my master to program the transponders in the two new keys. Or to get the car to recognize the two new keys to start it. They just turn and crank right now.
Any way to do this without the dealer? Mine wants $120 for programming. I do have the black master key.
I have tried the whole master key on off six times and open close drivers door five times deal. I cannot get my security light to stay on to accept new keys.
We just bought a very clean 06 XL with low mileage. After getting home and getting out of the car, I went back and opened a door to retrieve some papers. The damn alarm went off, and of course the keys were in the house. The doors had not been locked. It does this every time. We don't lock the car in the carport, and if anyone opens an (unlocked door) the alarm sounds. I tried putting it into valet mode, but no difference. Called Toyota customer care, and they said according to the vin, it did not come with a factory alarm, so must be a dealer thing. How to disable this thing or change the settings? It sure looks like a factory alarm.
View 5 RepliesReplaced battery with good battery, terminal post, tested starter (twice), verified that 12V is switched to solenoid by ignition switch, cleaned all contact surfaces, etc. but starter still will not crank.

View 3 RepliesMy parents have a 2006 Avalon. I put a new battery in it in November of 2014. It gets driving 1-2 times per week. I went to drive it today and I pushed the start button and nothing. No clicking - no nothing. I jump started the battery thinking that was it. There was spark between the cables and the battery and the dash lights came on but it wouldn't start - no clicking either. I disconnected the jump starter and the dash lights went out and nothing. no headlights, no cranking, no clicking no dashboard lights.
