My 2006 Toyota Avalon Limited AC clutch is not engaging and I am wondering how I can bypass the computer to engage it. I think I have low pressure and I will be recharging the AC with freon.
View 7 RepliesThe car is a 2005 Hyundai Elantra with a 5-speed manual transmission. My father and I were replacing a worn out clutch disk on my sisters car. We replaced the clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw out bearing with no problems; however, when we put the transaxles back into the transmission we noticed that they could spin freely despite the transmission being in first gear. The clutch is not engaged even when the clutch pedal isnt being pushed in. We stopped putting the car back together until we could figure out what was wrong with it.
View 12 RepliesI'm having trouble with my a/c clutch not engaging now for about 4 days. I believe I have narrowed it down to the field coil. I checked and I am getting 14 volts at the wire that plugs into the compressor. Auto a/c function will not turn on the a/c compressor light on the dash, but will turn on when manually pushed. When this first started, the radiator fan would kick on but spin slowly and now does not turn on at all when engaging a/c.
Per an older thread I checked the resistance at the a/c relay, though it did not tell me which pin(s). The only readings in ohms I could find from the a/c relay junction in the engine fuse box said 69-76 ohms, but I am unsure whether I am reading the correct wires or the correct way. Facing the front of the car, I am getting the above ohm reading from the bottom right pin to ground. Which pin is the correct one to test?
I am currently thinking the a/c clutch field coil is bad, but it stumps me that the radiator fan will not kick on either now.
Background of car : PO wrecked car, damaging the front end. I bought the car and fixed it up. A/C Pulley was replaced due to bent flange where serpentine belt travels. Also brand new radiator fan and replaced other seemingly non-related items to this issue.
What's the easiest way to get access to the ac clutch coil without removing the compressor. How do you get to the coil? how many snap rings are there?
View 3 RepliesI just changed the ATF fluid and filter on a 2006 Avalon. I added a little over 4 quarts, maybe 4.1 quarts. How to check it if there is the proper ATF amount. There are 4 notches on the transmission dip stick. Do I leave it running or not. How do I check it??!
View 8 RepliesWe just got the car and I know for fact the CC worked before. Now I don't even get a light when pushing the on/off button on the end of that incredibly weak column arm.
Is there a fuse, or relay? I checked under the hood in the fuse/relay box everything there seems fine, although I don't know if 1 of those relays controls the CC?
2006 Avalon
I have a 2006 Avalon XLS. Great car. Came with 1 cut master key and 2 remotes. I bought two blanks off amazon with the right transponder chip and had them cut for $5. Now I need to use my master to program the transponders in the two new keys. Or to get the car to recognize the two new keys to start it. They just turn and crank right now.
Any way to do this without the dealer? Mine wants $120 for programming. I do have the black master key.
I have tried the whole master key on off six times and open close drivers door five times deal. I cannot get my security light to stay on to accept new keys.
I've got a 2006 Avalon coming up to 30 K, bought it last summer. Starting to use the heater now, and it doesn't seem to work well. Have to turn it to 80 to get heat, not cold air, etc...
View 5 RepliesWe just bought a very clean 06 XL with low mileage. After getting home and getting out of the car, I went back and opened a door to retrieve some papers. The damn alarm went off, and of course the keys were in the house. The doors had not been locked. It does this every time. We don't lock the car in the carport, and if anyone opens an (unlocked door) the alarm sounds. I tried putting it into valet mode, but no difference. Called Toyota customer care, and they said according to the vin, it did not come with a factory alarm, so must be a dealer thing. How to disable this thing or change the settings? It sure looks like a factory alarm.
View 5 RepliesReplaced battery with good battery, terminal post, tested starter (twice), verified that 12V is switched to solenoid by ignition switch, cleaned all contact surfaces, etc. but starter still will not crank.

View 3 RepliesMy parents have a 2006 Avalon. I put a new battery in it in November of 2014. It gets driving 1-2 times per week. I went to drive it today and I pushed the start button and nothing. No clicking - no nothing. I jump started the battery thinking that was it. There was spark between the cables and the battery and the dash lights came on but it wouldn't start - no clicking either. I disconnected the jump starter and the dash lights went out and nothing. no headlights, no cranking, no clicking no dashboard lights.

Dealer told mechanic that they've never seen one of these sensors go and to check the wiring harness for damage; mechanic found none. 153,000 miles.

The car will start right back up or you can put into neutral and restart. I have been dealing with this for a year! I have taken it to my Toyota dealer where I purchased and to no avail. The car throws no codes and no indicator light stays on once the the car is restarted. I have changed electrical wires, replaced battery, disabled remote start (previous owner installed; I purchased car used).
I have a 2006 Avalon and I accidentally touch two wires on one of the DRL lights and it blew out I changed the bulb and still nothing, which fuse operates them? I check the owners manual and did see any fuse that runs the DRL.
View 8 RepliesI have an 06 Limited with the smart key, and am trying to find out if there is a way to lock the doors automatically. It seems there's all kinds of things the smart key can do, but this isn't one of them. Between the Engine Immobilizer and the smart key, they can be set to do everything automatically except lock the doors. I know the smart key can lock the doors from the outside, but you have to press the door lock button on the smart key which isn't much of an improvement over just sticking a dumb key into the door lock.
