03 alero blower will shut off and the cruise light will come on. If I hit the cruise on/off and also the window switched then the blower will turn back on. If my windows wont roll down then I turn on the blower and cruise and the windows work again... similar with the cruise and turn signals... what gives here?
View 1 RepliesFor a while now when i would turn my fan on, from off, the lights showing the air inflow, etc. fade out and i get no air intake what so ever. The light is on when the dial is switched into the off position, but when i go from level 1 and up the power dies out. Intermittently it will turn on, but often for brief moments of time. Also when it IS on i get a permanent "cruise" light that stays on however my cruise control doesnt work when this is going on.
The light is just on. When it does decide to work and i turn my cruise control on it works up until my fan dies out again (they are on and off at the same times) and thus, the cruise control dies again. I took apart my heater circuit board in hopes that it would solve the problem, and for about a week it did. However it ceased to work yet again. I went and pulled one from a scrapped car to see if replacing the unit would solve the problem, but this one is not having any better luck.
My brother's truck is a 2001 reg cab manual 4x4 with 4.6 and auto tans. Truck has roughly 130 i believe on it, this mornig he had blower on high in defrost position about three miles from leaving his apartment he said he heard a POP and the blower quit. No burnt smells or anything he said. SO Im gonna check the fuse first after that what should i do? Is there a relay for the blower? And do the new trucks have a resister for the blower speeds? If so how do i check these parts?
View 1 Replies2000 Alero. Wife reported to me she had no blower motor. I pulled the motor and it tested good. Next I replaced the resistor with one from auto zone. Now I have blower in all but the 5th and highest position. I suspect a bad new resistor but I left it for now because it's a pain to remove.
Could I have got a bad resistor? In my experience a bad resistor will give you high and nothing else.
I am trying to troubleshoot why my heater blower, cruise control and info center above my rear-view mirror has stopped working. I am trying to confirm power to an orange wire next to the driver-side fuse box. I have confirmed no power at the fuses. I am hoping the problem is the wire box below the fuse box and not the ignition switch. I have a wiring diagram and the power feed to these three fuses is via an Orange wire. There are two Orange wires in the box, I am trying to determine which one feeds the fuses for these three devices. I have a picture of the fuse box.
View 2 RepliesI've got a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero that will not start.
The only thing that happens is when the key is in the ACC position the light "service engine soon" comes on. When I try to start it the light goes off and nothing happens at all. Now I've realized the lights don't work, power windows, radio or anything. This morning my keyless entry worked before getting in my car and trying to start it but now it doesn't. It seems like I've blown a fuse but I can't find any that look blown. I don't have a light meter to be 100% sure however.
For the past few months security light of my 2003 Alero keeps on activating preventing the engine to start or it doesn't even crank.
I always do the reset technique..."Turn ON the engine key for about 20 minutes and wait till the flashing security light become solid before starting the engine." Today when I started the car the security light comes ON and stays on for my whole 50 Kilometers travel. When I reached my destination,I tried to turn ON and OFF the engine waiting for my luck to have the solid security light to come OFF,but no luck.
Will this problem have any effect on the performance of the car? Will the car stall while I'm on the road?
Having some issues with my 2003 Alero 4 cylinder. Upon start the entire engine shudders and the check engine light flashes. I have to turn it off and turn it on and it will stop most of the time. I've taken it in and the mechanics can't get it to reproduce the same issue for them. Just replaced all four plugs, boots, ignition coil.

The fan speed selector still switches between all speeds whether it's running or not, so it doesn't seem to be the resistor.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2001 Ex 5.4 4wd ... I shut down my ex jumped out, locked her up and came out two days later and she was deader than a door nail. Charged battery (charger/starter) started her up and let her run for a while. Came back noticed the abs light was on, shut her down and noticed my blower motor was still running, after I shut the engine down and removed the key. Tried it again, same thing. This is obviously what drained the battery, but what in the wide wide world of sports in going on? the blower motor usually shuts off with the ignition switch when you turn the engine off..
I believe this to be the original battery, would minimal battery power make thing act strange or ????? Ignition switch is tight, never had any problems with it. I have not done any "fixin" of the wiring system so it should be ok. Took it for a drive, radio turns off with ignition as should, blower motor will turn off if I turn the b/m switch to off position before I turn the ignition off. If I leave the B/M on and turn ignition off the b/m continues to operate in any speed and will NOT shut off even if I position the b/m switch to the off position. Turn ignition on turn b/m switch to off the b/m turns off............still perplexed!!!!
The problem began with the battery going down slowly while the car sat. Then the blower motor wouldn't shut off, even with the key turned off. With the blower motor disconnected, the battery no longer discharges. I bought and installed a (used) climate control panel but the problem persists. I'm not sure where to go from here.

The heat/ac blower fan continues to run after the truck has been shut off and the key removed. I believe that it even comes on after the truck has been shut off. What could be causing this?

After parking it overnight at home, all seemed fine except for a message saying the airbag needs servicing. What could cause this?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 grand am auto with a 2.2 the other day the battery light came on and my car just died. it started right back up, went sluggish for a mile and stalled again. Thinking a battery problem a couple of hours later a friend came with some cables, but oddly enough it started up on its own again. Only to stall out in less than a mile. My friend suggested I check the oil, which was about quart and a half low, the car started right up. It seemed to run pretty well, the battery light came on again but the car seemed okay. the second i touched the rear defrost button the car all the lights went on, my dash looked like a Christmas tree. I am at a loss. I know my air filter needs changing as well but not sure how that would come into play.

Would I start with the Clock Spring? Will Durango parts interchange? ABS Light, was told the problem is the main unit that mounts on the driver side fender. Have tried replacing with other units from the local scrap yard, but still get warning lights/sounds.
The cruise switch on my brake master cylinder is bad and causing the cruise to not work. I have it bypassed with a jumper wire and it works fine. is there any reason not to do this?
View 11 RepliesI bought a 2008 Prius with 1800 miles, no carfax trouble history On the way home from purchasing the car,as is, 180 mile trip, the red triangle, check engine, VSC and other symbol came on and the cruise control shut off Took it to a Toyota dealer the next day and the scan showed no codes. They could not explain it but said not to worry. Now that its warm weather, when this happens, the AC shuts off also I am at a loss for what to do, obvioulsy something is wrong. BTW, I replaced the 12 V battery and notice that the duct fromthe hybid battery was missing. Could this contribute to the problem?
View 8 RepliesI have a 99 Hyundai Elantra Wagon and it has about 205,000 miles on it. It has been a wonderful vehicle, but I have a couple of problems with it. One, the cruise control is a little funny. Between about 42 mph and maybe 55 mph, the engine will rev up and down and sometimes will shut off the cruise control altogether. Also, I think it has a transmission problem- when I slow down to come to a stop or slow down enough for a turn, it sort of hesitates going forward. Not the engine, but just going where I want it to go and when. It almost feels like the brakes are on when I'm trying to accelerate, but those have been checked. Automatic transmission.
View 1 RepliesDid a 1600 mile trip and noticed that the cruise 2x would just shut off. Most of the time tho it ran fine. Every once in a while when I would stop for gas and turn off the motor the cruise would not come on at all when we headed back out. Sometimes when it did this it would not come back on till I shut off the truck and then restart. Other times it would work after 20 or so miles.
When it did shut off or not come on, I would try turning it on and off, mashing the buttons HARD, What to do? Or should I just take it to the dealer and be done with it?
Was in town stopped at a traffic light when my 2003 Santa Fe just shut off. No warning, started right back up again, no CEL, no DTCs. Scary. I'm happy it happened with me driving the car instead of my daughter driving. Also happy it didn't happen on the highway.
I've had hard starting issues for a while now. Replaced crank sensor, it's fine for a few starts, then goes back to hard starting, but I hadn't had a problem in a few weeks.
Was driving just a few hundred feet up the road to local mini mart. On the way home after pulling out of the shop, my battery light flickered once and twice before staying on. I circled around the block to see if it would go away, but it was still on when I parked in my driveway. I noticed a ticking noise in the engine bay, but decided to turn it off.
About 10 minutes later, I turned the car back on. Battery light still on, noise still evident in the bay. I popped the hood and it's coming by the serpentine belt. That seemed to be running fine over there and couldn't see anything that looked out of the ordinary. I went in the car to rev up the engine a bit and turn on my lights, and that's when the symptoms got weirder. My RPMs jumped to about 1,000 and stayed there (even when I let on the gas a bit); my blowers would work (but not the screen showing the temp); CD player turned off; and I got a cluster full of lights on my dash. The car would idol rough when turning lights on and off.
It eventually shut off, and now there is no crank or nothing. All lights still work, alarm works, but no turn over or clicking. I'm going to try and get it jumped when able to, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. I can't find the exact paperwork, but I had the alternator replaced at around 85,000 miles.
