Most of the time my speedometer isn't working. my cruise control works the same way. i've read that it could be the cruise control module or the variable speed relay.

Five days later, I start the car and the following do not work: clock, intermittent wipers, neutral safety switch, tachometer, temperature gauge, gear indicator lights, rear defrost, windows, and I believe that is all. Car runs and drives fine. Other electrical items working. I check all fuses and only find one burned out - (#1, inside, labeled 'back up lights' meter lights) I replace the fuse and it blows when I start the car again. Take the car to AutoZone and they put it on their computer and it shows one code - P0501 - CVT speed sensor.
Two days later, the car will not start. Turns over strong, but will not start. I have checked the grounds on the transmission and body and they appear to be fine. Battery cables, also.
I am proud new owner of a 03 Mk4 Bora GLI. I have some issues that I could use a hand with. My symptoms are as follows:
1. Speedometer stopped working.
2. Fuel gauge goes on the fritz (rapidly declines) when parked on an incline or going around corners.
3. Cruise control does not work. "Cruise" light come on the dash but the set/reset button on the stalk does nothing.
Note: All fuses are in tact.
I just need to know where the powertrain control module relay is in my car...
View 2 RepliesDo our cars have a separate cruise control Module? I drove a new 600 the other day and found that the radar (adaptive) cruise will bring the car to a full stop. My 2009 will not. It deactivates at around 25mph. I emailed another 2009 600 owner who is overseas. He said his also comes to a full stop. So I'm wondering if I can put in a new module, or an overseas module, and get the results.

I've looked at all of the pictures showing that it should be right in front of the a/c unit, underneath the vacuum pump, but on both my 04 and my 05 Excursions, there is nothing to be found on that location. Where the bugger can be located.

I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
View 9 RepliesMy car was in the shop for 3 1/2 months. When it went in the power trunk worked perfectly. While it was there the comfort battery died and was replaced by the dealer. Since I got it back I've discovered that the trunk no longer functions properly. The trunk control module doesn't seem to remember the coding. Now, based on advice from VW of America, the dealer wants to replace the trunk control module and charge me approximately $750 to do so. I'm left with the question of whether the failure is coincidental and my responsibility or was inadvertently caused by the dealer through some type of voltage surge or something like that?
View 12 RepliesNoticed a mismatch of 3-4kms between Cruise setting and speedometer? Example, when i set my cruise to 100km/h my speedometer needle actually indicates 103km/h. I took it to the dealer and they said it is normal because the cruise and speedo get their speed signals from different sources.
View 2 RepliesI am having trouble with all sorts of functions on my 2002 F150 4x4, 4wd not working, cluster module illumination not working, horn not working, reving up and down at idle and sometimes dyin, cruise control quit working. I have been reading it is the GEM module that causes these issues. My question is I ordered a new one from Ford, when it arrives I was told I can just install it and It should be pre programmed. but one ford house tells me that they have to install it and program it. Which it right? I have seen several sites on u tube where people replace the module and then start their truck right up without any issue.
View 2 RepliesI just got a 2015 XSE a few days ago and I'm loving it. Yesterday on my way to work the cruise control was working perfectly. But then on my way home, I noticed my digital speedometer was reading 69 mph even though I had the cruise control set to 70. I waited about a minute to see if the car just needed some time to accelerate. Nothing changed.
So I pushed the cruise control stick up to try to increase the speed. The cruise control number went up to 71 and the speedometer went up to 70. Then I pushed the cruise control stick down to try and match the speedometer. That didn't work either.
No matter what speed I'm at, the cruise control is always 1 mph faster than the speedometer.
I looked around the intertubes a bit and found some Tundras with a similar issue, but nothing on the Camry. It annoys because the car has just under 500 miles on it. Can the speedometer and/or cruise control be recalibrated?
My speedometer, odometer & cruise control quit working and I think the transmission overdrive is also not working on my 95' Aerostar 2wd, 3.0L engine. I replaced the speed sensor that sits above the rear differential, but that didn't work. Wondering if something needs to be reset?
View 3 RepliesI own Sta Fe 2014 DM CRDi 2.2L diesel engine automatic transmission. Recently I am encountering a problem on my unit, firstly the ABS, ESC, and Hill descent alarm indicator shows on my dash brought it to Hyundai and they replace wheel hub assembly on the rear right wheel. after a week it goes lit again but doesn't stays long it disappear right now it happens from time to time only. Secondly my cruise control wont engage the light stays on but could not keep the speed, Ive check the brake lights they are not busted. The service technician doesn't now what to do and no error code showing on the computer. Last is during start up transmission on neutral or park position the speedometer fluctuates then warning light on ABS, ESC appears.
View 6 Replies I have a 1991 740 Wagon with ~153,000 miles. I say approximately, because the speedometer, the odometer, and cruise control stopped working. My mechanic says it is the sensor loctated on the differential, I believe he said.
2 questions: My local Volvo junkyard has gone out of business; where is a good place online to get used parts? and second, .is sensor difficult to replace? I can fix things that are easy.
I have a 95 Honda Accord V6, the D4 light is flashing and the speedometer needle does not work. When in stop and go traffic, the needle bounces around and makes the car stall and downshift and rev up. I replaced the speed sensor with no change.
View 6 RepliesAs stated in the title, I have a 2000 Isuzu rodeo s fwd v6 SUV. While driving on the road recently I lost my speedometer, odometer, and cruise control. The odometer is digital and I can still read the display when the car is on, however the number never changes. There is a little over 185 K on the odometer. I did some research on my own and figured the problem was my vehicle speed sensor (VSS). I thus bought one, changed it without problems, yet my problem persists.
Now when I drive for a bit, and come to a stop my vehicle sometimes stalls. Not all the time though. I figure even though the VSS is good (I changed the second one I put in again for a factory VSS and still I get no change) maybe the signal isn't getting to the ECM. What are my other options for the issue? Could it be the cluster behind the console? Is there a speedometer cable in this vehicle that could be causing this problem? Is there some little selenoid somewhere that is bad and is causing these problems?

View 1 RepliesMy speedometer stopped working yesterday after i replaced the 2 cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When i connected the the battery the horn started blasting and I went over tap the horn then it stopped. Then i noticed that the horn did not work anymore. I put back the original cruise control buttons and still did not work .So know instead of fixing the cruise control buttons, I broke the horn and the speedometer while the cruise control is still broken. I checked the fuses and they all are good. What can it be ?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 Honda Accord that just today started acting weird. I was driving 70mph on the highway and noticed the car was "tugging" a bit. I looked down and the RPMs kept revving up to 5-6k and accelerating while the cruise control was set at 70.
