I recently noticed that I'm getting a high pitched whining noise after I drive anywhere then stop and turn off the car. The noise is a buzzing/whining sound that lasts about 10-15 seconds and then stops. The noise sounds like it's an electronic component maybe having to do with the transmission? What it might be?
View 7 RepliesMy Accent makes a really bad whining noise whenever I give it any gas, so I took it to the dealership. The tech who looked at it confirmed my suspicions and said he thinks it is something with the transmission. I have the 6mt. He said the head technician will look at it tomorrow and determine if it needs a rebuild... I am just hoping they don't pull some crap and say I damaged it with my driving (because it is the manual trans and that seems like the kind of thing a dealer would say) and say it won't be covered under warranty.
View 13 RepliesI got in my car today and realized it was making a whining noise, kinda like the whine of a super charger, I don't hear it at idle but when I accelerate or rev it in neutral it gets louder and higher pitched. Friend had this problem in his Mercedes and he said it was a bad belt.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 4x4 Lim Excursion V10 and have started noticing a whining noise when acceleration from a stopped position. I cannot hear it at higher speeds maybe because of my exhaust . I also tried revving the engine in park and could not seem to hear the noise which leads me to believe it's not the engine per say. It is clearly from the front. I have heard the noise also coming from when I am turning from a dead stop so I think the steering pump is going out. But when I am driving straight it also makes a whining noise without turning too I have no clue what it could be I just change my belt about a month ago to a 45.00 Gates Belt from O'Reilly, so it can't be that. sounds like a old foreign car backing up its like urururururur but not that loud LOL... from a stop light then goes away around 25mph or so!!
View 5 RepliesSo I had all of my belts changed including timing belt and tensioner pulley as well as an oil change. After, I noticed a weird pulsating grinding/wining noise coming from the engine bay. It only can be heard once the car is warmed up. (It is much louder in real life.).

My outback has 57k miles on it and already needs the front struts and rack replaced (diagnosed today at the Subaru dealership). The car has been making a whining noise in the engine and has been clunking when making turns for the past week. I have also noticed it hasn't been taking bumps as smoothly. They told me that both ends of the rack are leaking and both front struts are leaking. My husband did admit to hitting the curb on the driver side front tire pretty hard while making a u-turn about a month ago, but all other driving is pretty standard. Yes, we drive on dirt roads in the mountains a few times a year for hiking, but don't drive in a manner that I consider wrong. Did the u-turn incident cause this? (hard to believe that would affect both sides of the rack and struts).
View 2 RepliesWhen I drive 60 miles exact constantly with windows closed and radio off, I hear a whine noise coming from the engine. I do not know if it's the engine or the gear shift of the transmission. If I drive over 65 mph or less than 55 mph, there is no whine sound at all. Is this normal?

View 10 RepliesMy wife had her car go off today while driving. Prior to this happening, she had switched off the engine while in a gas station, with the gear in D. After driving about 13kms more, the car goes off while in motion and doesn't restart immediately. When it finally does, it shudders until finally stabilizing. Could it possibly be due to the single act of switching off while in D gear? The car is a 2013 accent GLS.
View 28 RepliesMy check engine light just came on while driving home tonight. And there seems to be a weird rattly engine noise on the passenger side.
Just took the car to the mountains (800km round trip) all highway and got back Thursday night. Didn't drive yesterday, and today I took it out for a bit and it felt sort of loose... I don't know how else to explain it. Throttle didn't seem as responsive. I've only just hit the 6000km mark on it, and had the flash done at 4000km.
What in the world is wrong with my car? And now I can't even take it in til Tuesday because of the holiday.
So I have a 2012 Elantra Limited. From what I understand the power steering is no hydraulics and is only electric assist. So I have a strange problem. I can remember in previous cars when a power steering pump was going bad it made a whining type noise that changed with engine speed. My Elantra is making the same type of noise. I'm trying to track this down. My car doesn't have any other symptoms aside from the noise. It's hard to really tell but it does appear to be coming from the belt side of the motor (passenger side).
View 14 RepliesI have a whining sound coming from somewhere on the left side of my Accent HB SE 2013. 6 months old...it isnt audio related, and is intermittent - sometimes I can hear it, sometimes I cant. It can only be heard above say 40km/hr... and gets higher pitched with speed... lower and whirs out to silence when coming to a stop.
It sounds almost clutch related, but my guess is fuel pump related. A visual inspection shows the belts are fine.... I tried to see if it was hand-brake related by pumping a few times before pulling off... no dice. Now I'm trying to keep fuel above half to see if that has an effect on cooling the pump....
I just purchased a 2012 hyundai accent not too long ago with 20,000 miles on it but, I am able to hear a long beep noise go off somewhere around my engine every time I shut my car off. Is this normal? It's not loud at all just enough to hear it. I've also had a situation occur where I have gone to turn my rear defrosters on and while remaining stopped at a light and i heard i vibrating noise come from the rear of the cabin but then stopped once i began to drive. Could this be related?

View 2 RepliesHere's my problem, I have a B5.5 1.8 5speed and my power steering makes a whining noise when Im turning. I checked the fluid and it's full. A few years ago on a roadtrip from CA to NM, my PS cooler hard pipe had a leak and drained all the fluid. It's was 11pm and still had 30 miles to get home and all I could get was Pennzoil PS fluid from Walgreens. So for the past 3 years I've been using Pennzoil PS fluid. Just recently it started making this noise. Luckily I picked up a 98 AEB parts car for $300 and my question is,
Would a power steering pump from my B5 fit my B5.5??? And, If the problem isn't my pump, would the PS rack fit also??
I am hearing a whining noise only after car has been running awhile and only when turning left. The noise seems to come from the back passenger side. What this could be?
View 4 RepliesMy 2010 Honda Odyssey EXL recently began making a whining noise that seems worse when turning the steering wheel. When in the shop for routine maintenance a few weeks ago they noted a leaking power steering suction hose although at the time it was not making any noise. Is this a likely cause? Unsure what it was I tried spraying belt dressing on the serpentine belt and it seemed to work. There was no whining for a couple days. Now it's back.
View 2 Replies2005 3.5L 105K. I had the timing belt replaced at 70K. Ever since then I get a winning noise in the right front when turning left and accelerating. Does not happen turning right. I took it into another dealer and he said it could be in the power steering. But why turning left and not right? He didn't think it was the CV joint.
I changed the PS reservoir in case it was a clogged screen. That did not work. Now I am getting a rattle sound on the right with the car in D or R when the car is first started, moving slow or not moving. The sound goes away in N. I don't know if these sounds are related or not. What could be causing these sounds?
Our '07 Santa Fe (3.3 L) has began making a terrible noise when turning the steering wheel. It is a deep, whining screeching noise that seems to come from the front passenger side of the car. It isn't a metal-on-metal sound, but is similar to the sound my old skid-steer loader used to make at work when the hydraulics were going out. It also seems to be worse when turning right.
At first I thought it was the power steering pump, but looking at some diagrams online it appears that the pump is to the rear of the motor.
The wife says that the sound seems to get worse after it rains. Saturday she drove into Austin to run some errands and when she got back home the sound was really loud. I drove it into town and after a while the noise went away. She says that the sound has returned, but not as bad as it was this weekend.
'05 F150 5.4 Sounds like a whining noise from the front end when turning to the right or going straight. Goes away on left turns. Thought it was tire whine but put originals back on and got same thing. 13.5x35 verses 275 Truck has a Fabtech 6" lift. Right CV axle seems tight, rotor assembly replace 2k miles ago. Any other option before going into front diff?
