View 3 RepliesI have an 08 Toyota Sienna and yesterday I started to notice a very slight grinding or rubbing sound when I apply the brakes coming from the passenger side front wheel. I can only hear the grinding or rubbing sound when I am going very slowly (like the last 20 feet when approaching a stop sign). The sound pulses slightly like two surfaces that are not parallel are rubbing. There is no pulsation or wobble felt in the brake pedal. I'm thinking it's time to get the rotors turned, but it could also be the brake pads.
View 5 RepliesI have 2003 F150 SuperCrew 5.4L XLT. For past month or so, have been hearing metal rubbing sound and had shakes in braking - as well as a "grabbing and pulling" sound near brake pedal - very aggravating to say the least. Weird thing is the grabbing and pulling sound only happens under 10 miles an hour or coming to a complete stop. (The grabbing sort of sounds like the sound the ABS makes when hit really hard)
Yesterday I had brakes and rotors replaced - mechanic said front rotors were beyond turning - very bad. 135,000 miles on truck. Felt more comfortable until I pulled out of shop and when I applied brakes, had the same grabbing/grinding sound, but no pulling. Went back to mechanic and had him ride with me to hear sound, and he is stumped.
Knew it was safe(r) to drive since new pads/rotors installed, but when I got up to 55mph and barely touched the brakes, the steering wheel began to shake violently - but no sound/grabbing from brake pedal area like I get when I am 10mph or under. Really at a loss right now.. What's going on?
Truck is a 2WD, also hear some thump thump thump sounds from front left tire, which are only one year old, but tire man said that was from suspension arm or something - nothing to worry about he says.
Some people have said "bearing" or "hub" but when brakes were replaced, the bearings were repacked...is this the same thing? Is the current problem safe to drive with? I do not take vehicle out of the county - just to work and back and hunting on weekends.
Of all the manual transmission gasoline engine cars/trucks I've driven before, RB Accent has the least amount of engine braking regardless of engine RPM. Did Hyundai program throttle to stay open while gas pedal is off for smoother driving?
View 10 RepliesOften when I am turning the steering wheel, even a little it now seems, I hear a whooshing/rubbing sound and feel just a little bit of that rubbing. It feels/sounds like it's coming from the housing right behind the wheel itself, maybe where the shaft bearing is. Is this normal?
View 9 RepliesI just noticed that when I am taking a hard right turn such as getting on the freeway or exiting, I hear random clicking noises in rapid successions in random intervals. the traction control alarm also lights up when this happens. is this normal? it sounds like relays are going crazy. I have not tried left turn yet since there isn't many opportunities around.
Clicking happens under hard cornering which in turn causes TC light to come on and when still under acceleration.
I have a 2012 Explorer Limited with 95K miles. Under medium to hard braking, the steering wheel wobbles, and the car slows irregularly. I'm struggling to find the best word to describe. It's not a vibration or a shudder. It's like a pulsing that is slow enough to be counted. The car doesn't pull to a side under braking, either.
I put a dial indicator on both rotors, and they are nearly perfectly flat. There is no evidence of a leak anywhere. The only think I noticed is that the DS caliper had a little more pressure on the rotor, making the rotor harder to turn than the PS rotor.
When I shift the tranny from Park to Drive or Reverse, there's a whistling sound for 2-3 seconds. Also get the same sound when I brake hard.
View 5 RepliesInstalled eibach springs on the 7th gen camry? I installed mine this weekend, and I'm getting a like a rubbing sound when I turn the wheel from only the driver side. I removed the strut and spring combo to make sure everything was installed and aligned properly and it was. Just can't put my finger on why its only making that sound on the driver side.

It's loudest when the tank is between 200 and 150 miles to empty, I checked the spare tire and its tight, haven't had a chance to crawl under and look around yet though, I think something inside came loose. 2013 XLT.
View 2 RepliesWe've got a 2012 Hyundai Accent GDI. I've been hearing the rattle "ping" when the engine is under load (accelerating hard or uphill). I've read that this is typical for these engines.
I took it to our local Hyundai dealership since it's still under the 60,000 mile warranty. They updated the computer settings and I put in a fuel additive to clean up deposits. They also told me to buy name brand gas from here on out (Exxon, Shell, Mobil) as these engines don't handle cheap gas well.
Now that I've given you enough of a backstory, here are my questions:
- For those that have experienced the rattle "ping", what did you find fixed the problem?
- Any tips or things to look out for when cleaning the throttle body etc?
I've got a 2012 Accent GL with a stock stereo system. Worked fine for nearly two years until a few days ago.
Start car, everything powers up except the stereo. (Dash lights up, so the stereo buttons are back-lit, but no power to the stereo.)
Pull the in-dash fuse (20A, "ACC") below and left of the steering column, it is not blown, plug the same fuse back in and the stereo powers up. Clock, tuner, volume, audio controls, etc. all respond on the display but no sound from the speakers!
Have checked every fuse and relay, including the ones under the hood and the "in-line" fuses...none are blown. All fuses good.
Is there an amplifier in that model? Is there a fuse somewhere behind the stereo, in the dash? There's no reset button on the stereo that I could find. I also left the ACC fuse pulled for a few hours to attempt a reset, to no avail.
I recently got a 2013 Hyundai Accent and am wondering about what a 'normal' running engine sounds like. (it sounds way different than my '98' Elantra) It drives smooth but if I drive slow , it almost sounds like an up-down or rotating engine sound (up and down swell?) Also, when it's idling it sounds like the computer is always adjusting it?? Or something like that. Just want to make sure mine in fine. (84,000km on it.)
View 1 RepliesSo I've noticed in the past 2-3 weeks when I come to a stop I here a creaking sound coming from the Front end, I gotta get someone to stand outside while I stop just to clarify where the creaking is coming from? It only happened when I push down the brakes a little more aggressively to come to a quicker stop, not it's a sound that I shouldn't be hearing that's for sure.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 gti and just installed my new koni coils. Install went great car looks good everything was great until I test drove it. I am getting a very faint rubbing noise I would call it only while braking! Tires are not rubbing anywhere in the fender and all lines from the brakes are clear. The rubbing noise is only coming from the driver front side and like I said only while braking. I have triple checked all of my bolts and everything is tight.
View 2 RepliesAs the title says, I have a 2013 accent with an automatic transmission and 63k miles. Just bought it, used. The car seems to be fine, except I've noticed that when I am giving the engine some gas and it has work to do, i.e. accelerating or going up a hill, it will squeek / chirp a bit, but only between 1800 and 2000 rpm. Its not very loud, and goes away when it's outside of that rpm range. It seems to happen more often once the engine is warm and when the car is already at speed, rather than when it's revving in park or accelerating from a standstill.

It's a bit quiet, sry about that, all I have is windows movie maker. The sound is present at 0:08, 0:16, 0:36, and 0:45.
Is this something I should worry about? I saw another thread which mentioned "dieseling", a sound like a diesel engine caused by a bad knock sensor, leading to incorrect ignition/valve timing. It sounds a little bit like a diesel engine to me, is this the same thing?
I haven't noticed it before but applying the brakes after driving thru snow I get an awful crunch sound. I have stopped the car a few times to look and it appears the wheel wells are clogged with slush but I don't know if that's whats causing it. After the crunching sound if I'm driving on a clear road there is no noise if I brake. Its much worse than say the crunch you get if the brakes are wet. Whats up with this?

While I'm driving the car whenever I pass 90 km/h a whistling noise are started in front of my car. Hyundai Service nor Hyundai Customer service come up with a solution. I have a 12 day old Hyundai Accent 2012. I got the GL automatic transmission with a 1.4L engine.
I noticed a rattling sound inside the engine bay after a week of using the new ACCENT. It rattles when the engine is at medium effort. Usually i hear this kind of rattling sound with my 20 year old Mazda, but with a 12 day old car? WHAT?!
Got it serviced with Hyundai but they think it's the unleaded gasoline that's causing it, but they don't recommend using the high octane one. Talking with the technicians there, a lot of 2012 Accent owners already came back to the shop to complain about their rattling sound in the engine bay and i was not the worse sounding one.
I will record my rattling sound tonight by placing a small microphone inside the engine bay and post it youtube.
I have a squeaking sound that's coming out of my car when I accelerate and it has been persistent for the past few weeks. I'd like to fix it myself if possible. It seems like it's just a loose belt, but I'm not sure. If I don't have a lift, jack, or car mechanic experience is it reasonable to think that I could figure it out safely? I'm relatively good with my hands and at figuring things out. Are there any serious risks of damage to myself or the car from me tampering with the belts?
