So I had put a 12 in. Subwoofer in a couple of months ago in my trunk, and on certain bass notes I get this rattling. I found out what it is, in the sedan version, it's the rear panel right below the back window and behind the seats. If I push it down have and inch or put some pressure it stops and everything sounds amazing! How to get it to stop?
View 7 RepliesIts been awhile since I've posted, but this is annoying me! Everytime I drive over a small imperfection on the road, I hear this "rattle" or "small thunk" that sounds like either plastic panels in the rear, or maybe the rear suspension.
I ensured the rear seats were locked in place, I even removed that flimsy rear deck, and even drove with my seats down, and I still hear the sound.
I park on some bumpy terrain at my house, and sometimes I'll go over speed bumps maybe a little too fast, but not really fast.
Its just a sound that's never been there before, and I can't hear it unless I have the music off. Its not overly loud, but that "rattle" or "thunk" just makes me this car feel not so "new and refined" anymore.
I just get my new accent hb 2013 on february, and today while driving to my office the whole control panel starts blinking and fading, as well the front lights icon... for almost 10 secs, but then it suddenly disappears. Its less than 2200 km!
View 5 RepliesI've got a 2012 GLS manual with about 400 miles that now has a noise that concerns me. At just over 1500 rpms there is a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the rear and underneath the vehicle. It sounds like metal vibrating. I think it could be the exhaust but I am not sure. It didn't do it on the test drive and it is fairly intermittent.
What it could be and if it might be normal? Should I take it in and get it checked out or would that be a waste of time?
I have a 12 day old Hyundai Accent 2012. I got the GL automatic transmission with a 1.4L engine.
I noticed a rattling sound inside the engine bay after a week of using the new ACCENT. It rattles when the engine is at medium effort. Usually i hear this kind of rattling sound with my 20 year old Mazda, but with a 12 day old car? WHAT?!
Got it serviced with Hyundai but they think it's the unleaded gasoline that's causing it, but they don't recommend using the high octane one. Talking with the technicians there, a lot of 2012 Accent owners already came back to the shop to complain about their rattling sound in the engine bay and i was not the worse sounding one.
I will record my rattling sound tonight by placing a small microphone inside the engine bay and post it youtube.
I just recently upgraded the speakers and deck in my 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS but after installing a 12" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer in my trunk all I can hear is an overly annoying rattle caused by the cheap plastic trunk lid. It seems the lid is vibrating against my rear window because when I shove a towel along the edge across my window the noise stops.

I've heard from a few people that there's likely some sort of access point for this car but I haven't gotten any specifics. I'd rather not have the PDR guy drill a hole in the wheel well for the needed access.
I do see what looks like factory hole with rubber cover behind where the door closes (lower part) ..

Went to dealer today for rattling noise which appeared to be coming from bottom of engine on passenger side. Dealer diagnosed bad a/c compressor and had to order. This noise has been going on for past week and noise appeared with and without a/c on and always at "idle" speed. Noise would go from barely audible to very noisy and loudest with a/c on. If I turned a/c off, noise would diminish immediately; however, still audible with a/c on. Car only has 2,950 miles and a/c works fine, other than the rattling noise at times.
View 2 RepliesMy MY2012 Passat 2.5 SE currently at 37k miles all of a sudden is showing clear coat peeling near the trunk/rear panel area. Car is a CPO and clean carfax (no accidents) and currently still under warranty. Planning on taking it back to the dealership and hopefully start a case for warranty work under VWoA.
I've never encountered clearcoat failure this early on, case in point my B5 (MY1999) still has excellent clear coat uniformity despite the paint/body being 17+ years old.
Since about 5000 km, I have had a knocking metal rattling sound happening when I accelerate up a hill or a slight incline. It has happened a few times on flat road as well just more prevalent on the uphill battles. Now I assumed it was jus something loose that was rattling since I installed a cold air intake and had installed hid lights(I thought the ballast was banging on something). I tried and tried to find the rattle but I had no success. I read up on here about other people suffering the same problem and that running higher octane gas would solve it well I tried 89 and it was still there just not as much and I recently started using 91 and its gone haven't heard it at all.
View 132 RepliesSo I picked up my Accent on Tuesday with only 8kms on it and I love it! However I have one problem, I was driving around today and kept on hearing a rattling noise coming from the front right passenger side. I tried to lower/raise the window but I think it may be around the speaker.

View 6 RepliesJust had 30,000 km service done and was told the rear disc brake pads are almost completely worn out. The front ones are hardly worn and I'm not a fierce type driver who jams on the brakes or one who leaves the handbrake on..
I asked the service manager how come the rears are worn yet the fronts aren't - his answer was sometimes this happens.
Yesterday I was driving home from a long road trip (1425 miles in 2 days) and I was listening to my stock radio/speakers. It was a bit chilly with the front windows down, but too warm with them up and I didn't want to turn on the a/c. (no specific reason. I just didn't want to). So I thought I would just open the back windows.
As soon as I did this, the radio bass was just shaking the whole car. It was nuts. I wasn't even listening to anything with a strong bass to it. I closed the windows, it went away. It was better when I turned off the super bass, but I found this odd. Especially since I see people put these large speaker boxes in the trunk.
I got my HSD HR coilovers and they went on great but its like there's a bumping or knocking sound coming from the rear that wasn't there before? They look great and got me as low as I wanted.
View 6 RepliesHad my Accent nearly 5 months now and just in the last week there's a buzzing noise from near the right hand rear door when I use the key fob remote to unlock the doors. Has never made a sound before except for a click when the doors unlock.
Do these cars have a buzzer or is this the sign of impending doom coming from the unlocking solenoid in that door ?
I just bought a used 2013 accent gls with 22k miles.
While the sound from the front is sort of OK, the sound from both of the rear door speakers is very low and muffled.
I have to set the fader control almost all the way to the back to hear them, and then the sound is very weak all around with no treble.
There is also almost no bass whatsoever from any of the speakers. I know what to expect from a lower end factory system and have heard other hyundais that sound pretty good. I have tried setting the bass control all the way up (and down) and tried changing the "P-bass" settings but nothing works.
Is this normal for this car? I have not listened to any other accent stereos. I really like everything else about this car besides the stereo so far.
I have a 2013 Accent GLS and I have to replace the rear bumper cover. Any detailed instructions on how to do this?

View 2 RepliesI recently brought my 2011 in for its final service with a laundry list of issues, one of which was the tailgate panel that was always loose and rattling. Of course the dealer told me there was no problem, and it's always been difficult to isolate the source of rattles on this car since the entire car is a symphony of rattling plastic.
I looked into the tailgate panel more closely to find that the two plastic grab handles built into the tailgate panel were loose. I pulled the panel off to discover the root for the problem. The two plastic grab handles are sonically welded (melted) to the tailgate panel, (five welds per handle). Three of the five welds on each handle were fractured, (six out of ten welds had failed).
I took the panel back to the dealership and showed it to the service manager who miraculously concluded that the panel was defective, but it wasn't like that when they looked at it the day before.
When I'm driving and come to a stop for at least two seconds, I hear a slight click/tap noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Then as soon as I let off the brake, I hear the noise again. I can only hear it with the radio off, and I cannot seem to replicate it when my AC is running. I have Eco mode enabled too. I have no engine/warning lights on my dash, and have no reason to believe my vehicle has an issue; just simply trying to find out what the noise is.
