I got my HSD HR coilovers and they went on great but its like there's a bumping or knocking sound coming from the rear that wasn't there before? They look great and got me as low as I wanted.
View 6 RepliesI've just bought a new accent 2014 car, I noticed a sound like air escaping coming from the back near the rear wheel, the sounds is continuous, it doesn't stop till the car is turned off, the AC was not turned off, my friend told me that it could the brakes but the sound is coming with and without pushing the brake pedals. Is this normal for a new car or I should go and got it checked ? If it not normal what could it be ?
View 15 RepliesSince about 5000 km, I have had a knocking metal rattling sound happening when I accelerate up a hill or a slight incline. It has happened a few times on flat road as well just more prevalent on the uphill battles. Now I assumed it was jus something loose that was rattling since I installed a cold air intake and had installed hid lights(I thought the ballast was banging on something). I tried and tried to find the rattle but I had no success. I read up on here about other people suffering the same problem and that running higher octane gas would solve it well I tried 89 and it was still there just not as much and I recently started using 91 and its gone haven't heard it at all.
View 132 RepliesI hadn't driven my new GTI (DSG w/PP) for the last month. It was regularly started but not driven. Took it out today and noticed a knocking sound coming from the rear that could be heard every tire revolution. Distinct sound, not metal to metal as if a caliper had hung up. Noise in forward only not reverse. Nothing interfering with tire revolution. Needless I'm not driving until I get it checked out. What it could be?
View 2 RepliesI had to replace 2 tires on my Camry recently and Discount Tire put the new tires in the back and the old tires in the front. After all was done, I drove off and there was a knocking noise coming from the passenger rear.
The front steel wheel was pretty beat up so it was making the steering wheel shake. Discount put that wheel in the back. They had recommended replacing the wheel. I picked up a new one from a pick and pull and its still making the knocking sound.
I went through the car's interior to try and eliminate anything rattling around making the noise. Checked the trunk and there was nothing that I could think it would be.
It knocks at low speeds from 5 mph all the way up to 40 mph. But once I get to 50 and over on the highway the sound goes completely away. The car does not ride rough or shakes when the sound is present.
For the last year or so i have been annoyed severely by a clunking knocking sound from the rear (possibly passenger side) of the car. The noise occurs when there is torsion occurring or a sudden change of direction. I can go over a huge speed bump or pothole and not hear a thing yet the slightest change in direction or torsion will cause this extremely annoying heavy metal clunking knocking sound. I tightened every suspension system related screw in the rear of the car and the noise is still present.
The car is lowered on H&R springs (approx. 1.4 drop) so im wondering if maybe there is an additional stress that has been torturing the sway bar links for the last 3 years causing this noise. Or could it be the shocks (which are working properly)?
I own 2016 Camry special edition, and while driving i hear something knocking sound like ping pong ball sound coming from passenger side front tire, feels like shock is not working properly, in warm weather (over 60F)it drives better no sound or anything, what can it be? Is it because of 18" tires?
View 2 RepliesI have a squeaking sound that's coming out of my car when I accelerate and it has been persistent for the past few weeks. I'd like to fix it myself if possible. It seems like it's just a loose belt, but I'm not sure. If I don't have a lift, jack, or car mechanic experience is it reasonable to think that I could figure it out safely? I'm relatively good with my hands and at figuring things out. Are there any serious risks of damage to myself or the car from me tampering with the belts?
View 2 RepliesI just bought a used 2013 accent gls with 22k miles.
While the sound from the front is sort of OK, the sound from both of the rear door speakers is very low and muffled.
I have to set the fader control almost all the way to the back to hear them, and then the sound is very weak all around with no treble.
There is also almost no bass whatsoever from any of the speakers. I know what to expect from a lower end factory system and have heard other hyundais that sound pretty good. I have tried setting the bass control all the way up (and down) and tried changing the "P-bass" settings but nothing works.
Is this normal for this car? I have not listened to any other accent stereos. I really like everything else about this car besides the stereo so far.
I might buy a 2013 Accent tomorrow, but the only big question remaining is the ticking sound coming from the engine when I pop the hood.
When I hear ticking I think of valve issues, but is a ticking sound totally normal for that engine? Is it okay or should I be worried?
I have a whining sound coming from somewhere on the left side of my Accent HB SE 2013. 6 months old...it isnt audio related, and is intermittent - sometimes I can hear it, sometimes I cant. It can only be heard above say 40km/hr... and gets higher pitched with speed... lower and whirs out to silence when coming to a stop.
It sounds almost clutch related, but my guess is fuel pump related. A visual inspection shows the belts are fine.... I tried to see if it was hand-brake related by pumping a few times before pulling off... no dice. Now I'm trying to keep fuel above half to see if that has an effect on cooling the pump....
I have an 2012 Accent that is sitting at 35k miles. I just got the 30,000 service done and a few days after I started to hear this ticking sound along with a squeak. The car can be idle or moving, squeak still there. It's sporadic though. Sometimes I can go 20-30 miles without hearing it and then all of a sudden I start hearing the ticking squeak. It sounds like its coming below the front passenger side of the car. It doesn't matter how fast I'm going, it's a ticking squeak that just comes and goes, but when it comes, it usually sticks around until I turn the car off and let it cool down. If i start the car right after, the squeaking comes back, but if I let the car cool down (overnight, for example), the squeak goes away until I drive 20-30 miles. I commute to work about 40 miles each way (80 miles total) every day so I can definitely hear it and it's bothersome.
View 5 RepliesWhen I'm driving and come to a stop for at least two seconds, I hear a slight click/tap noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Then as soon as I let off the brake, I hear the noise again. I can only hear it with the radio off, and I cannot seem to replicate it when my AC is running. I have Eco mode enabled too. I have no engine/warning lights on my dash, and have no reason to believe my vehicle has an issue; just simply trying to find out what the noise is.
View 2 RepliesMy wife has a 2012 Accent with 23k miles. Within the last few weeks she started having a clunking noise coming from the rear passenger side when going over bumps. I had some time to check the basics (loose lugs, broken exhaust bracket, spare tire, trunk lid, etc..) and have come up with nothing. I'm not very familiar with Hyundai's, but I wouldn't think there are very many components to the rear suspension other than struts that could be making a clunk like that. But with 23k miles, the struts shouldn't be bad.
View 6 RepliesA few weeks ago I heard my car was making this weird noise in the morning, when I go really slow, like when I'm parking in reverse or just getting out of my garage in neutral. It comes from the tires, I don't think the problem is in my breaks, because it doesn't make that sound when I'm breaking and I took my car to the dealer (forgot to mention the sound to them) but they said everything was fine, so my brakes should be fine...
Usually the car makes that squeal-sound in the morning. The sound goes away after I start driving on normal speed (40-45mph).
2012 Accent sedan, 5 speed manual.
Went to dealer today for rattling noise which appeared to be coming from bottom of engine on passenger side. Dealer diagnosed bad a/c compressor and had to order. This noise has been going on for past week and noise appeared with and without a/c on and always at "idle" speed. Noise would go from barely audible to very noisy and loudest with a/c on. If I turned a/c off, noise would diminish immediately; however, still audible with a/c on. Car only has 2,950 miles and a/c works fine, other than the rattling noise at times.
View 2 RepliesOver the past few weeks, I have noticed a clicking sound coming from the right rear brake when they are moderately applied when stopping. Doesnt seem to happen under light braking. I figured something in there must have gotten loose so I got to taking the drum off to inspect and clean the insides, or see if anything was broken. Everything seemed to be in order, inside of the drum looks fine as do the shoes, Nothing is really jumping out at me as a cause to this noise. I hit the brakes with the shop vac to suck out any brake dust I could get.
Then, with the drum off, I had my fiance apply the brakes a few times, and the parking brake, just so I could see if something in there was not operating as it should. Heh. I dont think you are supposed to do that with the drum off. The shoe adjuster fell off the shoes (#2 below) So I had to get that back in place and I am pretty sure I have it in right. I go to put the drum back on, and the pads are now too far apart and it wont go back on.
So, I decide to try opening the bleeder valve on the brake cylinder to see if I can get the pads to move in at all. it drips but I cant get the pads to budge. Then I shortened up the shoe adjuster all the way so I could get the drum back on.
Now my parking brake lever, I have to pull it waaay up to even get the parking brake to engage. I figure I have to go back and crank that adjuster out some so the shoes engage sooner. Also, I probably got air in the brake line when I opened the bleeder, so I have to bleed the brakes for real.
So I ended up removing my rear seats of my 2010 hatchback gs, but there is now a hissing sound coming from the rear where the seats were. The sound starts as soon as I start the car up until I shut the car off. I'm assuming that this noise has always been there just noticeable because of the seat removal. Is this just the fuel pump?
View 8 RepliesI have the 2013 Accent with nasty knocking noises from the front. Have the same thing with my 2009. I opened the hood yesterday to fill the washer fluid and noticed I have a gap between the insulator dust cap, body or frame and strut insulator. I can almost poke a pencil through the gap. I am to think this is not normal. I have about 16000 kms on the car.

View 2 RepliesThis start this morning on my way to work. When I took my foot off the gas I would hear a clicking knocking sound the sound slowed down as the car slowed down. Any time I took my foot of the gas this would happen. Was still there when I hit the break. If i had my foot just barely on the gas it would go way. Its an automatic 2000 Accent 156K miles.
