So....the trunk light on my 09 GLS is not turning on. It was intermittent for a while..now its just gone. I checked the bulb and it works. I got the meter out and tested everything. It seems something in the trunk latch is the switch for the ground to turn on the light.
View 3 RepliesI just bought 2008 hyundai accent with 51,000 miles and it drives great. Only issue so far is the trunk latch sticks when i open it, and i have to unstick it to close. I ordered an OEM handle from the dealer in hopes that it's the part i need. Any tips on how to replace. I pulled the trim off to look under there and spray some lubricant on it. But not sure how complicated the latch will be to replace.

1) Odd noise coming from steering column while turning.
2) Vanity mirror on driver's side, the lid/flap thingy does not stay open.
3) Trunk only opens when using key. Using FOB of door button does not work. You can hear movement but it does not open.
I have a 08 Accent Hatchback. The trunk door knob(the black plastic hinge thing which you pull to open the trunk, not sure if I call it right) does not reset. I mean after pulling it to open the trunk, it's stuck instead of going back. I need to press it to original position, so the trunk door can be locked. I can see a rusty spring behind the black piece of plastic. Not sure where is the problem(maybe the spring?). How can I fix it.

Recently found that trunk area light will not turn ON when you open hatch (in DOOR mode). First I thought bulb is burned out ,but I can manually turn it ON and it will stay ON always or until I switch it to OFF. No recent hits/bump on hatch or any warning lights on dashboard that hatch is not closed. Alarm locks hatch and the rest of the locks OK.
They originally had the issue where the truck open light was on accept when braking which I traced back to the harness in there trunk, a few months ago while they were getting there oil done there mechanic said they would just remove the harness and tie the wires together without the harness to prevent the possibility of a new harness corroding as well. but after doing so there rear defogger no longer works so somewhere they did something wrong but with the harness no there anymore I cant really tell myself.
View 1 RepliesI have an Accent 2003 - 2 door hatchback and for a while the light stays on, on my dash that the trunk is open.. I checked the lock, and the switch, and they are all ok.
Funny thing is, when I press the brake pedal, then the light turns of. Thought I would just deal with it, but it's driving me insane, looking at that light. I had to remove the light bulb from my trunk, since it is staying on all the time, and it had drained the battery.
I found through google some wiring schematics, but doesn't look like it's 100% correct.. Are there any available for my car, or even better, what it could be? (Faulty wire?)
My overdrive keeps turning on and off. I've tried turning off the OD but it keeps switching on and off.
View 1 RepliesMy hyundai accent has been giving me fits for about 6 months but I didnt think it was a major issue, apparently I am wrong. When it first started the check engine light would come on randomly and go off after a few minutes or even a day. Then it started staying on longer and when it would go off my car would stall. Then when it got cold twice I went out to warm my car before I left and when I came back out to leave it was dead, had to be jump started and while driving the first couple of miles it would die, it always cranked fine but it at lights or stop signs would die. Now it has stopped all together, it turns but wont start. I have a spark and we have tried the cam sensor and crankshaft. The fuel pump wouldn't go out while I was driving would it? or what could it be we are kind of at a loss.

Is this problem common to the Accent 2010 model. Possibly the blower resistor open circuit.
I have a 2008 Accent with 136,000 km on it. A few days ago I parked with the wheels slightly turned and the steering wheel totally locked, the key couldn't turn and the wheel couldn't be unlocked by pushing it either way. I called CAA and the driver had no luck but he tapped the key lightly with a wrench while it was in the ignition and it started. I took it to the mechanic yesterday and they had the same problems and called a locksmith who specializes in automotive locks.
They told me to take it to the dealership because they thought it was something further inside. Something was bugging me and I realized what it was. When the car was parked and the key wasn't in the ignition, as soon as I opened the driver side door the chimes went off. I closed the door, tried to lock it from outside with the remote but it wouldn't lock and the alarm wouldn't engage. I called my mechanic to tell him this and we all agreed that it seemed the car thought the key was in the ignition even though it wasn't.
I went to the dealership and left it and they called and said it was the ignition cylinder that needed replacing. Does this sound right?
The wife's accent started hesitating when turning over to start. Like turn the key, engine will turn 1/4 turn, then nothing for a second or 2 ( without releasing the key) and then crank and start fine.
Checked connections at the battery, cleaned 'em. No CEL on.
I had a ignition cylinder freeze last winter, when my wife dropped her key in the snow and put it in with water on it. Had to heat the cylinder with a small lighter-style blowtorch and put low temp graphite in there.
Did I maybe melt something in there?? Something else??
I bought an 09 Accent and love the car, good mileage and actually quiet. I have developed a noise when I turn my steering wheel. It is not there when the car is cold, but after a few moments, when I turn a corner, I hear sort of rubber on rubber sound as I turn the steering wheel.

This happens as well when I am going over bumps in a parking lot or somewhere at a low speed. The car itself turns fine, not sticking or power steering loss. So I am not quite sure whats going on here.. At 71k miles 2010.
View 3 RepliesWhen I am sitting at a dead standstill and I turn the wheel lock to lock, left or right, I hear a clicking sound. The clicking is louder inside the car, but I can't tell if it's coming from the steering column or the various linkages in the suspension or drive systems.
If I drive in circles, with the wheel at a constant (or changing) angle, there are no clicks, so I don't think this is a CV joint issue.
What could be causing this noise? I really don't want to take off my lowering springs and restore this thing to the original configuration for a warranty repair visit to the dealership.
If I do, you may see a fire sale of H&R 20mm wheel adapters and B&G lowering springs in the near future.
Own a 2006 Sonata GLS 3.3L.
Having an issue where the trunk indicator light stays on on the dash and won't turn off; just started yesterday. It causes the car alarm to go off prematurely when the car is locked via remote and will not beep when locked twice with remote indicating that it is locked.
Otherwise the trunk functions properly, opens and closes fine, latches fine. The only work done in the past 3 months was an oil change a few days ago.
I looked in the trunk of my GS350 when my car was parked in the garage and it looked pretty dark in there. I shut off the garage lights and the trunk was just as black as everything else.
Is there supposed to be a trunk light in this car? Every car I have ever owned, Hondas, Nissans, and my other Lexus had trunk lights, so I think this is pretty weird if they didn't include a trunk light.
If there is a trunk light then where it's located so I can check it out?
Is there a way to pop the trunk without turning the car off, releasing the key from holder, getting out and opening it from outside. This is probably a terribly stupid question but I've recently discovered this oddity and thought I'd ask -no matter how simple it may sound.
View 2 RepliesTwo years ago I replaced the rear turning lights with LEDs and updated the flasher. Last week as the headlights came on I saw on my dashboard the left turn signal was on. I stopped and checked, the rear left turning light was on, not flashing and the front parking/turning light was off.
When the headlight are off, there is no problem flashing. The right side is flashing with HL on or off. I replaced the left side rear turning light with a bulb and the problem went away. The front bulb and rear LED are good. What is going on?
A month ago my battery light was coming on and disappeared a few hours later and I thought it was the oem battery. I changed the battery as alternator seems working fine based on scangage that i have. After sometime light sometimes comes on again and disappear. I like to fix this as this is annoying to see on the dashboard. Where else do i need to look. Checked connections they are tight and clean. Only aftermarket stuff i have is the fog light. Not sure a loose connection somewhere may cause this?
