I just got back my Accent from the detail shop. Now, the OD/off light is on, the button won`t change it, and I am screaming down the highway with NO overdrive! Armor All in the switch? What the.....!!!!

View 1 RepliesOkay so I have a 2003 Toyota Camry with 358, 000 miles. I replaced the transmission in 2010 with a gently used one that only had 100, 000 in it. Out had been running great until today when it started slipping in and out of overdrive. I had to turn the o/d off just to drive home and not get it over fifty. Now I don't know if I need to change the filter and fluid or just take it to a mechanic. I read on another site not to change the fluid and filter at such high mileage b/c the clutch and guys might rely on the friction of the gunk in the fluid and that new smooth fluid might keep it from running right.
View 4 RepliesMy 94 accord lx just received a replacement motor and tranny from jdm auto.its from a 95 odyssey. I had to swap throttle bodies, distributor... from the old one cuz the new one didn't have cruise control components, external coil... Now its seems rather gutless and it wont down shift when in d4 or d3 unless I come to complete stop, but sometimes it stays in 4th which sucks at an intersection! Also the shifter moves freely from first to neutral without pressing the button. and of course check engine light is on constantly. I've played with tranny cables fuses are good, reset ecu, fluid is new... every thing seems fine and the tranny that we took out down shifted fine so I must be missing something simple. timing?
View 3 RepliesWell this weekend I'm doing quite a bit of work to the truck. My tires and exhaust got delivered last night, now I'm just waiting on the leveling kit. Here's my issue:
For a little while now (5k-ish miles) going in and out of overdrive the tranny makes a clunk noise during the shift. Time to change the tranny fluid and filter? I am making a trip up north on Sunday and don't want to have the tranny the bed on the way.
On saturday I am doing the leveling kit (2"), brakes, exhaust (MBRP), and new tires (325/60r20 Terra Grapplers). Should I go ahead and do the tranny fluid and filter while I'm at it, or just wait till I get back. I am figuring on about 2k miles throughout the trip.
I have a 94 3000gt sl the tranny won't shift into overdrive I got a tranny out of a 92 3000gt sl will it fit and will I need to get anything extra to make it work.
View 4 RepliesAlright, well I have recently purchased a 2000 Hyundai Accent, 1.5l SOHC, automatic. 117k miles. The problem is, it won't shift into overdrive. It appears that the overdrive button works, as the dashboard light turns on and off, but pressing the button has no effect on the transmission, as it still doesn't go into 4th gear. It's 3rd gear all the way down the freeway, which really limits me to cruising at like 60 mph. What this could be? The fluid seems alright, and there's enough I believe.
View 19 RepliesI'm new and just read a thread from 2008 talking about malfunctioning overdrive. My overdrive has stopped working. It was intermittent for a while and now won't come on. A recommendation was made to replace the transmission sensor cable. How do I find/access the sensor cable for my transmission? Is there a website that shows pictures and gives instructions.
View 6 RepliesI have the p0734 and p0732 codes. Thing is it shifts hard into second and wont go into overdrive when first started. After about ten minutes of drive time you shut it off and turn it back on and the thing shifts perfectly. No hard shifts and overdrive works then check engine light turns off. The pulse generators have been replaced when i purchased car. It is an 02 accent with 90,000 miles.
View 3 RepliesI have also owned a 2001 hyundai accent for almost 6 years now. This is the vehicle I drive to and from work. Today I was pulling off the on ramp onto the interstate and when I shifted to fifth-year it took for a few seconds and then all of a sudden I had absolutely no pull in 5th gear. There was a small pop sound but I can't be too sure exactly what it sounded like. And there is a really bad rattle from the tranny whenever the car is running 2000 RPM in fifth gear any higher than that then there's no noise at all and no pull. The RPMs just go up as if you're revving the car in neutral. I just wanted to know if that pretty much tells me that fifth gear is gone and I need to replace the transmission or have it rebuilt.
My other question is I've been looking up on the Internet to find a replacement transmission and so far I found out that for the 1.6 L if my car was made after March 8, 2001 that it requires a different transmission. But my car was built in September 2000 and I was wondering if the manual transmission was the same on the 1.5 L and the 1.6 L.
I recently bought a 2002 Accent with the 1.6 auto 133000 miles. I have been reading the postS around here about the crappy transmission. My car seems to have some life in the tranny still but it has slipped from 3rd to 4th gear around 45 mph when i get on the gas too hard. Its also a little sluggish to start off. My question is should i change the fluid out knowing i have a slipping issue? The reason i ask is that last time i changed the fluid and filter on a Jeep that was slipping i ended up having to rebuid it. Is that a real possibility if i change the fluid in this Hyundai?
View 3 RepliesI had the transmission rebuilt a year and a half ago, when I took it in it came up 4th gear incorrect ratio. The guy who rebuilt it said it wasn't the original tranny that came with the car because it was modified to fit in the car. When I got it back, after a couple hundred miles or so, the check engine light would come on for a day or two then go off. When the check engine was on it would get stuck in 3rd gear, once the light went off all was well until the next time. I took it back to the guy who rebuilt it since it was still under warranty. the P1529 code came up for TCM issue. He put some sensors and a chip in and thought it fixed it, no such luck. Finally I had the cash and had it looked at by another shop and the 4th gear incorrect ratio came up as well as the P1529 TCM code. He's suggestion to fix it was to either get a used tranny or rebuild this one again. He believes since it isn't the original tranny that the tranny in there now was for a SOHC engine, not a DOHC engine and that's why the ratio in 4th gear is off and it throws the TCM code.
View 6 RepliesMy problems started out around the beginning of the year. Mostly, it was the transmission. It would slam really hard when shifting. Worst, sometimes while on the freeway, it would shift on it's own, for no reason, into a lower gear and get stuck. (Happened twice and was really scary).
Along with this, a couple times I would start it up and it would rev really hard, about twice what it normally would.
Usually, with the revving, I could turn it off and back on, and it would stop. A few times I could disconnect the battery, reconnect, and it'd be fine.
As for the tranny, I could turn it off then back on and sometimes that would work. Other times after a few miles it'd work itself out.
I did take it to my local Hyundai dealership. The first few times they couldn't get any code to pop, and they couldn't simulate the issue. It was very random when it'd happen. Luckily, on the 3rd try, they did get the tranny to shift hard. They said it was a bad tranny and replaced it (free due to warranty).
Unfortunately, that hasn't gotten rid of the issue. After a few months... maybe 3K - 4K miles the issue is back. Again, it's very random.
I've had the high revving which I've had to disconnect the battery to resolve. And the tranny is slamming again.
I don't notice any other issues. No engine light (except the one time the engine was revving really high and I had to disconnect the battery to reset, then the light went off).
Sometimes I can go a month with no issues. Sometimes it'll happen back to back days.
Could it be a computer issues? Is that something I can fix/change out as a novice?
I have a 2006 F150 5.4L 3V with 105,000 miles on it. Recently, it has developed a misfire that is progressively getting worse. It happens when the truck is in overdrive, with engine RPM between about 1200 to 1800. Cruising at this RPM the truck runs great. If I increase the throttle, I develop a pronounced misfire. Once the truck down shifts out of OD and engine RPM exceeds 2000 RPM the misfire goes away. I have never had the CEL light come on during any of these events. The truck has the original plugs in it AFIK. I have not changed them.
View 6 RepliesEver since I start driving the car I always noticed at like around 5mph no matter how light you touch the pedal from rolling its a bit jumpy. Not sure if its a major problem or not... also the tranny is starting to feel a bit not smooth btw almost at 80k miles 07 GS350.
View 14 RepliesI have an 06 Lincoln MK LT with 147K miles. Just recently when it went into overdrive it was like I shifted into neutral. Pushed the overdrive off button and it drove just fine although no 3rd gear (overdrive). what do I need to do here other than paying for new tranny.
View 2 Replies06 with 5.4 and AT. It shudders in overdrive during light to no acceleration. I was told it was the converter. I was also told by a technician in a trans shop that the Trans-X additive for hypoid oil in a posi-trac was ok to use even though the back of the tube says "Not safe for automatic transmissions". Do this is accurate or if the guy was just blowing smoke?
View 5 RepliesI notice it happens driving between 20-30 mph and accelerating very slowly. Rpm around 1500. The tranny changes gears up to to 3rd or 4th gear and the vibration starts. If i accelerate, it goes away. During quick acceleration I never notice this vibration. Also if I drive the car in manual and go thru the gears i never notice the stutter. The problem feels like driving a manual car in a higher gear at a low speed and need to downshift.

View 1 RepliesI took my gs350 for a drain and fill today. Before They did anything, The service advisor called and told me the pan gasket is leaking along with a seal? I am aware of the gasket on the pan but wasn't able to get any info on the seal. Is it a seal that is replaced regardless of leak or not if they drop the pan?
Got quoted 700+tax for pan drop, replace gasket and said seal with fill of fluid.
