Nothing is happening when I plug in my scan tool that I've used a million times before. I'm assuming it's a fuse but nothing listed on the fuse panel. Checked a few vague ones with no luck.

View 12 Replies2001.5 1.8t, I have this p0343 code when I used the scan tool at murrays or oreileys whatever the h they are now (it means something like cam angle sensor high input). The t-belt was due for service a while ago , am I looking at a sensor problem or a wiring problem or a timing/engine problem? How should I check and where? I hear the timing belt can be a pain on the 1.8s, I have done a mk4 trans and a bit of other stuff but I do have a lot going on right at the moment and I'm not sure if I have time. I have a feeling if I take it in for service they will probably find blow through from the turbo and pull the engine because of "sludge".
View 2 RepliesCar in question is a 2003 Camry XLE I4. On rare occasion when I try to start up the car, it would crank but doesn't start. Sometimes two or three hours later and it would start right up with no problem. This has been going on for months now.
Well today the car all of a sudden died on the freeway. It was running like usually and next thing I know, it just died. In all cases no check engine light pops up at all. I got it towed back to the shop and the mechanic tried to hook up a scan tool but it couldn't connect to the ECU. Also when the key is turn over to the "on" position before starting, no CEL pops up at all. All fuses and relays are good.
ETA : It turns out the wiring under the fuse box was bad. The fuse box and wiring were either replace or repair. Since this is an intermittent problems, we will see if this is indeed the fix after a couple of months.
Next on my list of needed repairs is new brake lines. The ones running along the frame are rusted pretty bad. I had a 89 F-150 bust a line once and it got real interesting so I would like to change these before that happens.
I have searched and still not gotten a clear answer as to whether I need to get a scan tool and do something with the ABS pump. I would like to know if the scan tool is necessary.
My Prius has the USB and Aux port. When I plug in my Iphone it doesn't play any music. And my prius doesn't show up anything also. Do I need to get that adaptor and hook it up behind my navi deck to get it to work?
View 1 RepliesI have this problem code P0405. At fist it come up with a turbo under boost. I have replaced the Turbo and egr valve and I still have the P0405. I did notice a oily residual in the port for the egr valve I see no deference in coolant. She idles good I just have no power when I put it in gear to move.

My ScanGauge just went blank, which was nuisance because I like to monitor it in the mountain climbs. It felt like a 'naked' dash without it. My separate pyrometer was the only additional info I had. The ScanGauge only has a few thousand miles on it. Wondering how reliable these things are before considering getting another, or inquiring about a fix I know I will first have to double check that the OBII port is still OK, but I expect it is.

View 8 Replies2005 f350 6.0, parked in my shop and the batteries were dead after 2 weeks on vacation, (I left a few items plugged into 12vdc ports charging) charged it up and started right up. Next day cruising down the road about 75 the wrench icon showed up, strange. I reviewed my scan gauge and only thing not correct was my boost, it was 20lbs plus, idles at 14lbs. dash gauge appears normal.
Next morning I turned on the key, turned on my scan gauge engine is not running and the reading show 14.4lbs on my scan gauge. so..... adding the 14.4 to the scan gauge reading thru the drive cycle. so my computer thinks it is seeing 20-30 boost during acceleration. A bad sensor......... but don't know which one.
I'm looking to buy a used 2005-2007 6.0L and bought a ScanGauge to take with me when I look at the next truck I'll be considering. I dont have a truck now and I see that the ScanGauge derives power from OBD port of the truck. Is there any other way to set it up in advance?
View 9 RepliesHave non-Nav system. The "nav" display works OK, I can get into climate control, Info, Setting, etc. When I turn on the car, message comes up that Bluetooth is connected. But I can't switch to radio or CD and can't control it from a steering wheel either.
I checked all the fuses - all ok. Took the whole unit out of the dashboard, checked all the wire harness connectors in the back - all good. Also, disconnected Vaistech SLS and VML, just to make sure - still audio is off.
Why I can't turn the audio back on
Ok a new rattle is going on in my 2006 Azera. Not sure where the rattle is coming from. Took it to the dealer last month for a oil change and asked them to look at the underbody to see if anything was loose. The service manager said everything looked fine. So if it isn't rattling there where else as I can tell something is loose somewhere.
I looked in the trunk yesterday and everything is sound in there didn't look at the spare so that is the next step. Doors sound solid but I hear it when driving like something is knocking lighly under the car. Thought it might be the tail pipe of something connected. I been riding my Burgman 650 most of the summer so far but when I pick up my girlfriend in the Azera I hear it from her and then from the car.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I can't find the location of the OBD port in any of the written material on my '06 Avalon.
