Accent MC (2006-11) :: Headlights Dancing Up And Down
Oct 14, 2012
I'm wondering if any of you ever had problems with your headlight vertical adjuster motor. Ever experienced the headlights dancing up and down?

View 1 RepliesALL BULBS ARE WORKING. I've asked this same question on auto sites and the advice I get is the obvious which is to change a burned out bulb. All lights are working. Blinkers left and right work correctly UNTIL the headlights are turned on. With headlights on, the left blinkers rapid blink.
I tried swapping the left rear blinker light with the right after seeing someone on a Jeep forum who used aftermarket bulbs which caused rapid blinking even though they were the correct number. My rapid blink side was aftermarket and the right side was OEM. Swapped and the left still blinks rapidly. I haven't tried the same thing on the front yet because it got dark and the mosquitos were feasting upon me lol.
My understanding from various forums is that there is higher current in the circuit which causes the blinker module to break the circuit faster. The problem could be a multitude of things of which one is a burnt bulb. If that is indeed how the blinker circuit works for the Hyundai? Where is the module? Wish I had a technical manual for this car or at least a schematic. I don't understand how it can work fine until the headlights are on. What does the headlight circuit have in common with the blinker circuit?
08 accent passenger headlight was noticed to not be operating while in low beam. Switched to high beam- it works, but still no low beam.
First instinct was replace the bulb. Low beam works but now.. high beam doesn't?? Bulbs are fine, brand new out of the box and driver's side works like a charm. Bright as heck... passenger's side isn't quite as bright If that's any relation to the problem.
Checked the fuses, they're all good. Made sure bulb was placed in secure. Filament didn't get bounced around either. Was poking around online and seems it could be the relay. Manual doesn't seem to list a relay for the headlights or am I not reading it right?
My driver side is higher than the passenger, how do you adjust the headlights?
View 5 RepliesI own a 2001 Accent 1.6L. The other day both low beam headlights went out. The brights work and so do the parking lights when turned on. I changed the bulbs and still the low beams don't work but the highs and parking lamps do. I looked on the hood for a relay but could find one in the fuse box. I checked the fuses and they appear okay. What could cause the problem? I'm hoping it is not the stalk. Still a relay or switch under the dash?
View 7 RepliesI have an hyundi accent 1997 and the headlights won't turn off.i have had new fuses, relays and on/off the stalk.the only way to turn them off is to take out the fuse which is a pain. Someone has suggested install a switch across the fusible link but didn't have the details for me to follow.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to aim the headlights on my gf's car, but both adjustment screws are only allowing vertical adjustment. I cannot get it to move horizontally. Is there a hidden screw or something?
View 12 RepliesI'm seeing the following symptoms in my 2001 Accent 1.6L:
1. Check Engine Light on;
2. Certain electrical functions occasionally surge. For example, headlights and dash lights will become noticeably brighter for a few seconds, and the heater fan will blow harder. The surges last for about 3 seconds, then stop. Surges happen randomly, sometimes four or five times during a 30 minute drive, sometimes not at all in an hour.
3. The speedo/tacho lights have been cutting in and out randomly for longer than this, and this does not happen at the same time as the surges above.
4. Recently, the surges became more frequent and the Air Bag light started going on, then off. Now it is permanently on.
5. The battery has leaked fluid out from the fill caps, a good few ounces of fluid.
6. There are no blown fuses.
7. The Battery is 6 months old.
8. The alternator is 6 months old, and is the third one after two previous ones failed; the original was replaced 3 years ago, and the replacement failed 2.5 years later.
9. A fried lead to the starting motor was found when the alternator was first replaced, and was repaired. Related?
At times, not often but on my 04, when I turn headlights on, the drivers side front window will go down, and when I work the switch to make it go up, the passenger side front window will go down.
I don't have a wiring diagram for the car, so tracing the circuits would be next to impossible.
I ran into this problem on my 2006 GS 430. It was caused by the lights beginning to wear out. It started on my left bulb and then both started doing it. The info was a great as originally I thought it was the ballasts. These are very expensive and hard to change.
One other word of caution, make sure the car is off for at least an hour so the high voltage in the ballast dissipates. These bulbs operate at something like 50,000 volts and that will definitely stand your hair up.
My Gs350 headlights are HID's I'm not sure if I'm suppose to change the bulb or the ballast itself... It does it on both lights and they both go out randomly or at the same time...
View 14 RepliesI gotta problem with my headlights. they're too low and I tried to raise them with the adjustment screws but they won't move up no matter how long I crank em... Plus the high beams are also aimed low. Does the adjustment screws both the low and high beams?
View 1 RepliesThe low beams on my 2010 Sonata seem dim compared to my other vehicles. I do not want to install HID lamps but would like a recommendation for a brighter lamp.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2010 sonata GLS which just turned a year old today. About a month or so ago I bought a 8000K HID kit. Its been working fine but the other night i went to leave a friends house and my headlights would not turn on at all. I replaced the fuse and still nothing. All the wiring is fine on the kit and inside the harness and the headlight. I don't know what to do. I have 2500K yellow high beams and I've been driving with them for the last few days but they blind people and i hate driving with them on. This didn't start until the day i took the car to the dealer for an oil change. what should i do?
View 1 RepliesThe 2010 elantra touring gls has headlights that are angled too low. The low beams project toward the ground and its especially bad on hills, making it difficult to see more than 50 feet in front of you. The high beams are misaligned as well, the passenger side higher than the driver side. When the original owner went to the dealer after purchasing, they said they could not further adjust the angle. I find this hard to believe, but she drove it for 6 years like this.
View 2 RepliesHeadlights will not go off no matter what the switch position. Can only get them off by pulling the fuses
View 1 RepliesSo I've been taking apart my 06 GS430 for about a week now. Dealing with all the small kinks I'd like to get out of the way.
One major and possibly costly fix are my headlights. Since I purchased the car back in 2012 the headlight lenses were slightly cracking on the inside but not so bad. Though now it's more noticeable than ever and it's really bugging me. I've never had an experience taking headlights apart nor do I have the talent to do so. I'd probably go to a friend that does this type of stuff..
My question before I end up spending an arm and a leg on new headlights. Can these be restored in any way?
A few days ago my stock 2006 GS300 AFS off light began flashing, at which point the headlights seemed at a normal level and operating as expected. The next time I started the car, the AFS off light was not flashing, and the headlights were aimed way too low. From time to time, the AFS off light will come on now and the headlights will be at an acceptable height, but if the light DOES NOT come on, they are aimed too low (like 2 feet in front). I am not sure if I should manually adjust the AFS sensor, as when the AFS off light comes on will they then be pointed too high?
View 10 RepliesI have a 2006 GS300. I have had a few oddball issues with my car (the engine rattle at start up....the water backing up in the floor behind the passenger seat etc.... ) but this one has me baffled. I turn on the headlights and one or both will randomly go out. Sometimes its the left and sometimes its the right. When this problem started, I thought it was the bulbs so I tried changing the bulbs but that didn't work.
When I turn them on, they both come on and then I leave the house and drive for a few miles, then I will notice that one of them goes out, so I turn the lights completely off and then right back on and they both come back on. Then a few minutes later one or the other will go out again. Sometimes they both go out while I am driving, so I need to flick them off and back on. I have no problem with the high beams or the running lights. I don't drive too much at night so it hasn't been a huge hassle, but it is definitely a problem.
Auto lights start when outside dark. possible to make all time lights? In lithuania we have to driver always with lights. I don't want to turn on everytime and turn off lights.
View 1 RepliesI have a Toyota Tacoma 2006 which lacks all the gadgetry and techno-wizardry of the Prius C model three (which I just purchased). Yet the moment I lock the truck with the key fob, if the headlights were left on they turn off instantly, allowing me to walk away with peace of mind that I won't return to a drained battery. I love this feature on my Tacoma because I can leave my lights on pretty much all the time which allows me to pull out of the lighted parking garage in the evening without driving for multiple city blocks unaware that my lights are off.
My issue: I just bought the Prius C to work more efficiently consume gas during my 60 mile commute, and I'm surprised to discover that the headlights just remain on even when turning off the car and engaging the locks/alarm.
Someone told me that they supposedly go off after 20 minutes but I'm not comfortable walking away from the vehicle and trusting that this will happen.
Is there a way to ensure that the headlights go off when the car is powered off and the locks/security system is activated? If there's a "window" of time that it takes, can this be adjusted?
BTW, averaging over 50 MPG each way to work despite the "47 MPG HWY" EPA estimate...
