Accent MC (2006-11) :: Front End Is Clunking
Jan 30, 2015
So I have a '10 Accent Blue with 61,000 miles on it and the front end is 'clunking' again. 2 years ago under warranty I had the same sound and they replaced both front strut.

View 4 RepliesMy 2009 Accent (hatch) has for some time now made a very noticeable clunking sound from the rear passenger side when going over rough roads (minor bumps). I sat in the back at one point and it is definitely coming from the area of the shock and not from the trunk. It has persisted through all temperatures and seems worse now (February in New England). I found a lot of conversation of this issue related to Elantras, but not so much for Accents. My spouse thinks it is the shock dust cover rattling, and in fact you can make it rattle, but I'm not convinced that it could make that much of a clunk - it's just what looks like a thin plastic.
View 9 RepliesHave a slight clunking sound in the front of elantra, only noticed it yesterday and is only there at start offs and is there in forward and reverse motions. May be more of a click like sound at times as well.
View 22 RepliesSo when I turn and am hard on the gas I get a clicking and slight clunking sound from the front end. Wants to confirm its the CV joints before I rip it apart?
View 6 RepliesI have an 06 Sonata GLS with a clunking noise coming from the front end somewhere. I hear it when I drive over small cracks or bumps in the road, and when I jerk the car from side to side. I have just replaced the front struts, bearing plates, and sway bar links. I've checked the tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, etc.. Yet the noise still exists. After a recommendation from a Hyundai Tech, I even re-tighten the subframe bolts using loctite. I am completely lost at this point and do not know what to do to eliminate this annoying noise.
View 17 RepliesI have a 2006 Chevy 1500 Silverado. The driver side front tire is making a grinding and clunking noise. It started yesterday afternoon and has gotten worse. When making a left turn there is a grinding/rubbing noise. When I go over a bump, rough gravel, or pot hole a horrible clunking comes from this tire. I haven't taken to a repair shop yet.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2005 NF V6 Sonata Elite - for some time now there has been a sporadic clunking noise in and around the suspension or front drivers side wheel of my car. It got a lot worse a week ago when I took the car off sealed roads for a short distance, almost sounding like a CV that had gone. However a mechanic checked the car over a few days ago and found the CV was fine, as was the driveline. It seems to clunk more when turning, and when I put the power on or off. I also detect a slight vibration or hum coming from the area concerned when taking gentle bends at moderate speed on smooth roads. I can assume the wheel bearings are fine, although the mechanic I went to perhaps isn't very familiar with the make/model of car. They went around the suspension and tightened some of the struts, which made a small improvement I think, but the car is still making the noise. What was the cause of the noise if known?
View 4 Replies2009 accent sedan has had an issue with noisy front hub bearings? I had my Accent in for an alignment today and also had the shop check for a humming noise that seemed to be coming from the front end. The humming varied with speed. The technician said it was a noisy hub bearing. He said that the bearings were both tight and had no play in them. I was told just to monitor the noise, as the bearings were tight. Just had the transmission fluid changed too. (Used genuine Hyundai fluid) The noise doesn't seem to be transmission related, as the transmission shifts perfectly with no noise. Also, the level of the noise changes on turning the wheel in either direction.

For the last 1 1/2 weeks stated hearing this rattle sound when going over speed bumps, or any bumps/imperfections in the road.
It looks to be coming from the front suspension, I can also feel the rattle a little in the steering wheel, not sure if it was always there but now there is a noise to go along with it now, so noticing it.
I've been noticing bad gas mileage over the last few months. I changed the spark plus, that didn't work. then I noticed the prob when I was checking my mail one day, on a slight incline and the car didn't roll back. so I took it home and checked each tire to see if it spun freely, and the two front ones do not, the drivers side being the worst. I don't here any noises coming from either tires, and have actually replaced front right wheel bearing last year.
View 21 RepliesI've got some front end noise in my 09 accent gls. Its the passenger side when it goes over bumps. I've seen online it may be the sway bar end linkage? I don't have air tools or do too much work myself, I just do the typical stuff on my own, oil changes, brake replacement, stuff like that...how hard is this job?
View 11 RepliesA week ago I started getting a quick clicking sound from my front end, it speeds up when I accelerate, but it goes away after driving for ~1-2 minutes. Also I get squealing on the front end whenever I start up. Usually neither happen if I just stop for a minute and start driving again, it's just the first drive of the day when it happens usually. I'm guessing a belt but really not sure..
View 13 RepliesI have a 2010 base blue. I have noticed a creaking noise somewhere in the front end with windows up when you turn the wheels left or right. It is barely noticeable but there none the less. I have tried pinpointing it and it seems to be outside the cabin but not at the wheels.
View 13 RepliesSince I have this car i noticed that the brake calipers (especially the front) are very noisy. This problem is caused by caliper's floating guides that become loose and the entire brake caliper shakes. I asked at a kia mechanic who answered to me to change the calipers support. For my trusted mechanic is useless because, according to him, this type of support have this problem (he tell me that also others car have this problem like older nissan micra) and sooner or later would return noisy.
Some time ago with greasing the floating guides i temporary solved but drying up over time the problem come back.
Noticed in the last 3 days that my front windshield washers aren't working, but the rear one is. I figured that maybe the nozzles were just frozen up, but opened the hood tonight when I got home and shut the engine off but with the key in "Run" and tried the wiper switch....can't even hear the pump come on, but I can with the rear wiper.
Are there TWO pumps on the Accent hatchback? One for the rear wiper and one for the fronts? Is it possible one of my pumps is bad? I haven't checked the fuse...will do that in the morning, but I can't imagine it's a fuse as the front and rear washers would be on the same fuse I imagine...
My front speakers have stopped working. I thought it was the stereo itself (why would both speakers stop?) but I've replaced the head unit and still nothing. No buzz, nothing. Which leads me to think it's something else.
View 5 RepliesI disconnected my DRL's (because I have HID's so they don't work) so I am currently using my parking lights (front turn signals, rear brake lights) as my DRL's, however my problem is that the front turn signals are not that bright, so what I can do to make them more visible during the day...
View 24 RepliesMy 2006 hyundai accent makes a humming noise while driving. it gets louder the faster i accelerate. I have checked the wheel bearing but they appear to be fine. i jacked the car up and tested the wheel by pulling and pushing back and forth at the 12 o' clock position and etc. no give in either wheel. i also held the spring and spun both wheels with no vibration. I also rotated tires back to front. when i did this noise seemed to be lower. But still there. I did hit a fallen sign on the highway going 70 mph. I am wondering if this may have damaged my tires or if it still could be wheel bearing. and there is no vibration in steering wheel or while driving. just annoying humming.
View 1 RepliesLooking for photos where the A/C drain tube is located for accent 2008? Water is spilling inside my car and i think the a/c drain is clogged.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem, the passenger front door won't open from inside or out, neither handle on the inside or out works.
The lock goes up and down and the handles move but you can feel that they are not connected to anything. I took it to two mechanics and they shrugged.
If I can't open the door, I can't take the panels off and look inside the door. What I can do? I hate to destroy my door panel.
I've got a strange noise coming from the front brakes. It's not the wear indicator, and it's not a worn out rotor.
When I apply the brakes firmly, they work great. No noise, good stopping power, the pedal is nice and firm. As soon as I let off the pedal, there's a little chirping noise, like a tiny bird in my wheels... I've looked at the pads and rotors, and there's no obvious sign of damage or wear.
My guess is it's the caliper pins or piston making the noise. I'm happy to take it apart and lube it, but what kind of lube is specified for this? Moly grease? Lithium grease? Some kind of oil? And do I apply it only to the caliper pins, or to the piston as well?
I looked on HMA service, but I can't seem to find anything to address this specific problem.
