2010 Hyundai Accent GLS (automatic)
Just noticed the last few days that my car has developed a shake when accelerating, but stops after a certain speed. It isn't bad yet, but when I started going up a hill today it was significantly worse. The entire car started shaking, but stop after the car leveled out.
I just put in a new front left and right axle two weeks ago, would that have caused anything ?
I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS with 118k and just recently my car has started vibrating while going uphill past 55mph. On level ground it's just fine, but when I go uphill the whole car starts to shake. I've checked the motor mounts and they all look good with no cracking (replaced them last year for engine shaking at idle). My only other guess is a bad CV axle. The CV axles are not ripped.
View 13 RepliesI am hearing a quiet knock from my 2013 accent, especially when accelerating or going uphill on low RPM. I am getting about 34 MPG after burning a tank of regular gas (87 octane rating) on my commute which is about 2/3rds 50-70mph freeway and 1/3rd stop and go traffic. I usually get more MPG than what the EPA rating is, so that number seems a little bit low to me, but I just got the car used, so I don't know what's "Normal" for it. Idle is pretty quiet though.
I would give a video where you can hear it, but honestly it is pretty hard to hear from inside the car. I generally have to be near a wall with the windows down or something to be able to hear it clearly.

Also, there are no lights showing on the dashboard besides the ECO light since I have been running the car in that mode. Is it possible that there could be codes that might give more information even though nothing is showing on the dashboard?
We've got a 2012 Hyundai Accent GDI. I've been hearing the rattle "ping" when the engine is under load (accelerating hard or uphill). I've read that this is typical for these engines.
I took it to our local Hyundai dealership since it's still under the 60,000 mile warranty. They updated the computer settings and I put in a fuel additive to clean up deposits. They also told me to buy name brand gas from here on out (Exxon, Shell, Mobil) as these engines don't handle cheap gas well.
Now that I've given you enough of a backstory, here are my questions:
- For those that have experienced the rattle "ping", what did you find fixed the problem?
- Any tips or things to look out for when cleaning the throttle body etc?
The issue that I'm having is that when going up hills, the car like automatically starts slowing down basically losing power seems like. I have to put it in low gear and even so it sounds like its straining to get up the hill. No more than 20mph and then begins to drop lower. When going up drive way I have to make a complete stop and then proceed else it will stall. Also, when at stand still in traffic car shuts off. Sometimes I can feel it vibrate before it shuts off other times it just shuts off. took to western auto and they don't know whats wrong with any of the issues. They just said there is nothing wrong with my idle and to put a gas cleaner in when i full the tank up, that didn't work.

View 1 RepliesMy 2007 Hyundai will randomly after being parked for 3+ hours will stall (engine shakes for two seconds then cuts off) when attempting to reverse. This only happens when the car is turned on then trying to reverse. It will NOT do this when driving and later putting the vehicle into reverse. Additionally when the weather is extremely cold or hot this becomes more frequent. If the car can be shifted into reverse without stalling within 5 seconds it will NOT stall. To solve the problem I have to either keep trying to turn on the car and shifting to reverse until it doesn't stall out (sometimes 3 tries or more) or putting the car into neutral and pushing. I have to stress this only happens after having the vehicle sit for more than several hours even a day and is random. One day no matter how many times I tried turning the car on and trying to reverse and repeating it would not stop stalling out. I had to wait till the parallel parked car in front of me moved so I could get out of my spot. What is wrong with my car? I have taken it to Porter Hyundai TWICE and they cannot determine the problem even after scanning for codes.

I've been losing power uphill, RPM at 4,000 and and losing speed. I heard a loud sound coming from the front starting at 2,500 rpm and up (like if the exhaust air is struggling to get out), not sure who to explain that accelerating noise
On Flat surface it's slower accelerating up to 3,000 rpm with that loud sound. It's like the more i pressed on the gas pedal, the less acceleration i get.

2 weeks before I had 2 ignitions coil going bad at same time, i run it about 2 miles before changing them, and the exhaust/catalytic converter came hot and melted the plastic dust cover under the car near the catalytic converter.. Did I premature burn or plug that catalytic converter?
Would it be catalytic converter? Fuel pump? Fuel Filter..
I thought of buying a catalytic converter cleaner and put in fuel tank and up the intake..
So I just got a bunch of work done on my car: the timing belt, spark plugs, serpentine belt and water pump were just replaced. I had the oil changed, the fluids changed, new front tires, and an alignment all about a month ago, but now every time i turn my car on there is a squealing noise coming from my engine (i assume a belt). Then when i get to higher speeds the entire car shakes, but more so on the drivers side. I have also noticed my brakes just starting to squeal as well, but the shaking was occurring before that. What it might be?

I changed the engine for my 2001 Prius ( imported used from Japan ). The engine used to shake few seconds after starting then shuts off. The Mechanist did many things, including changing the Spark Plugs, fuel injectors, adjusting the Timing Belt sync, Cleaning MAF, Updating ( Or Upgrading the soft ware ), Adding fuel Injector cleaner with the Fuel.
Now the engine shakes . It stays on, then runs fine. But when I go up hill the Check Engine and Triangle go on. There are no codes. it only says Engine Poor power.
I have a lateral vibration while accelerating between 40-60MPH. There is no vibration if the car is at constant speed, decelerating or if I drive, at that speed, with the clutch depressed.
The problem persists in spite of having aligned and balanced the tyres, a few days back. Subsequently, I again rotated the tyres because the mechanic insisted that it was a tyre and rim issue. But no luck! The tyres are in great condition and the rims aren't damaged.
Visual inspection of the under body also revealed no obvious problems except for slightly leaky rear shocks.
The car is a 2009, Hyundai Accent sedan, 1.4 litre petrol.
I was driving my Accent yesterday when suddenly it shuttered and stopped accelerating, it was still on because my RPM gauge would move when I hit the gas, when I went to pull over it was very difficult almost as if my power steering was not working. Now that it is off it will not start, it cranks but will not turn over. We tried a new battery, but that did not work. What it most likely is, I have 109k miles on it.
View 16 RepliesI have a 2010 accent 2.0 with 110k. When accelerating from a stop it seems to hesitate or miss in the first 20 ft or so. The service engine light has not come on which indicates to me it's not in the emission sensors. Where to start looking?
View 10 RepliesMy 2007 Hyundai Accent gs shakes really bad while I am accelerating at lower speeds. I thought the front driver's side tire was loose or possibly had an air bubble, but could find no evidence of such. The rim and the tie rod looks fine, but it is shaking bad. It pretty much stops shaking when i reach higher speeds (60+mph), but when I am stopped and need to accelerate or turn it gets frightening.

The only thing that I'm not so used to, is a strange feeling when accelerating or going uphill (even slightly) - I can feel the engine roar(?) through the steering wheel - I can't really describe it well - it's not a vibration per se, but more like you feel the engine working harder than usual through the slight vibration of the steering wheel. This is my first V8 car - I used to have a V6 Acura MDX before, and never felt that. There is a good chance this is normal for a V8 based truck, but I wanted to get others' input.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2001 Ford Taurus with 103,000 miles. It shudders when I accelerate; sometimes one, two or three shakes. This usually occurs around 35-40 mph while I am going uphill (never while going downhill). I always use overdrive, but I tried it in drive and also felt it then.

First thing i did was check the trans fluid (automatic). The drip stick showed itself to be very well high above the max fill line for running hot. So i drained the pan, and replaced the fluid with 2.6 QTs as recommended by Haynes auto manual. The dip stick still shows itself to be high and at the same spot as previously. The problem still persist.
I recently have changed the front rotors and brakes how ever i do not feel that would be the cause to the below symptoms.
-Shakes on and off when accelerating while O/D is on.
-When O/D is off occasionally shakes.
-Rarely shakes when manually shifting.
-Shakes often when driving up hills.
-With O/D on, acceleration beyond 60 km is near impossible as it constantly shakes.
This has happened five times within the past couple of months. I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx LT. In all cases, I was accelerating while going uphill. I am in Chicago so by uphill, think expressway ramp. The Charging System Light and warning bell come on for about a second and then shuts off. When I get home, I check the battery. In all cases, it is fully charged. The battery is six months old. What could be causing this?

Sometimes when accelerating, and almost always when accelerating uphill, the vehicle makes a noise that I can best describe as sounding like a grumbling or rattle from the engine. It almost has a "diesel engine" sound to it. I have noticed this going back to when the vehicle was brand new, but I have recently noticed it more.
