I'm getting a very ugly high pitched screeching sound from my belt when the car has been sitting for 3 hours (cold start), or randomly when I turn my steering wheel. Based on that what does it sound like the problem is?
View 21 RepliesI have just noticed a high pitched squeal coming from the front end of the car when I turn left only.The more I turn left the louder the noise. It does not happen while I turn the wheel when stationary.
View 3 RepliesI have a weird issue, whenever I'm driving in pretty wet conditions (or drive through a puddle and make a "wall of water") I hear a high pitched squealing sound. Sounds like it is coming from the front right (passenger side) of the car when driving in wet conditions.
View 7 RepliesI noticed when I first start of my 2006 Azera at night or even during the day and make the first turn of of my driveway or out of the parking lot at work there is a high pitched whining sound. Sounds like it maybe coming from under the car maybe from the back. I thought at first it maybe a belt (power steering) under the hood but it sounds like it coming from the back side of the car. It only does it one time mostly when its cold outside. What can it be?

View 20 RepliesI've got an unknown issue with my 07 Accent (1.6L):
There is a low tone noise coming from near the upper area of the engine. It sounds like air or fluid traveling through a hose. The tone of the noise has recently become progressively louder, so that it is noticeable over normal road noise when driving. The noise does not fluctuate in tone or intensity with changes in RPM. However, the tone changes to a higher pitched frequency, almost like a hiss, when the clutch is fully engaged and held to the floor, both when in gear and when not in gear.
What the cause may be? And potentially required maintenance?
I have a higher pitched squeak..more of a clicking or a bird chirping type sound from the belt area. I don't believe it's the belt as I replaced that and the tensioner last Summer.
It's sporadic at idle but increases under load/acceleration. Would a failing water pump be a possibility? My first impression was a wheel bearing but it still happens at stand still and upon looking under the hood, it's coming from the belt area.
I'm also having issues where the low coolant light will come on occasionally but then going back off. When I check the coolant, it's full at the neck and in the overflow. The thought occured to me that maybe the pump is having trouble keeping up; causing a low coolant condition at times. IDK just a thought... maybe it's an unrelated problem. The head gasket was just replaced a year ago.
I have a 2007 ES350. It started making a vibrating noise and sometimes screech coming from the serpentine belt area. It stops when I turn off the A/C and also stops when I accelerate with the A/C on (only does it when idling).
View 3 RepliesOn my wife's 2013 Tiguan SEL, i took into a indy VW repair shop, to have the seatbelt chime disabled cos i don't have a vagcom myself.
Anyway he went to instruments, adaptation, and found it in there, which gave him four options, the factory setting was 2, he couldn't load 1, because it failed, but was able to load 3.. 4 also failed.
I think when i say 1,2,3,4 it said channels ??
Anyway, given 1 & 4 failed, only left him with 2 & 3, 2 being the factory setting.. However for 3, the seat belt chime is disabled BUT only after 6 high pitched beeps... If the seatbelt is on during startup there's no high pitched beep.. If you take the seat belt off after ignition its all fine, no beeps, actually a better way to describe it is the seat belt chime is disabled, apart from the 6 high pitched beeps, if you turn on the ignition without the belt clicked in..
Is there anyway to turn off the annoying 6 high pitched beeps...
I am working on my friends 2008 Sonata with the 3.3 V6. They brought the car to me saying that it was screeching when turning the wheel. So I took a look at it and when you turn the wheel one way it would make a screeching noise and the belt would try to jump off of the tensioner. I assume the tensioner is bad, but now I am wondering if it is a crank pulley problem.
View 8 RepliesI got in my car today and realized it was making a whining noise, kinda like the whine of a super charger, I don't hear it at idle but when I accelerate or rev it in neutral it gets louder and higher pitched. Friend had this problem in his Mercedes and he said it was a bad belt.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 Honda Element and when the AC compressor cycles on it makes a high pitched noise similar to a drive belt slipping. The AC is still cold and the noise is not overwhelming (yet). I know this vehicle has a serpentine belt and that doesn't appear to be making any noise. The only noise is when the compressor is running.
Is there a belt that drives the compressor (other than the serpentine)? And, is this something that I should get fixed ASAP or can it wait until my next oil change? Meaning, if I wait until the oil change (under 1,800 miles) will hurt anything?
One of my belts squeaks. I've tightened one of them as far as it goes I think. The other one is the one with the alternator. Do I tighten the pulley bolt on the alternator to add tension to that one?
View 4 RepliesI drive a 2002 4-dr 1.6 L Accent and there is a strange, high-pitched squeaking that comes about from somewhere under the car at very slow speeds (30 mph or below). If I hit the brakes, the noise continues sometimes as the car slows. (The noise isn't the brakes, though, I know that), but if I hit the gas pedal slowly, the noise stops. Whatever is vibrating underneath doesn't seem to be causing a problem at high speeds. Or I just can't hear it.
Secondly, I am going to try to do some tune-ups for the summer for lack of better things to do, mostly, I can pretty much do anything (intake/exhaust, engine, electrical) as long as I can find detailed instructions.
How is the turbo in this new design cooled? Sometimes when I restart a hot engine, there is a high pitched whirling sound before I take off. Is this the turbo in action? Are there active shutters in this car? Twin Power Turbo 2011 BMW 535i....

While I'm driving the car whenever I pass 90 km/h a whistling noise are started in front of my car. Hyundai Service nor Hyundai Customer service come up with a solution. Yesterday after a 45 minute drive home (GA and above 90 degree heat), I noticed a moderately high pitched whining noise after shutdown. The noise continued for about 5 minutes. From my understanding, the inverter coolant pump redistributes the coolant after shutdown and I have heard a humming noise previously which I assumed to be this action.

Almost everyday in the mornings when I drive my car to work, there is this high pitch ticking/clacking sound coming from the passenger side vent/dash/A Pillar area.
It only happens over dumps on uneven surfaces or when I launch from a stop/red light. Keep in mind I have a manual. Its a rapid ticking/clacking sound that goes with the uneven surface or any sort of vibration on the road.
It usually goes away maybe after 20 mins of driving (I'm thinking it has to do with the temperature warming up). Or if its sunny out, it just magically goes away.
I've brought it to the dealer at least 3 times with no cure, because it takes me at least 20 minutes to get there. The tech would literally have to come to my house in the morning and listen while i start the car up and drive to "duplicate" the sound.
I originally thought it was static coming out of the right speaker due to bad wiring. Had the right speaker replaced already, sound is still there.
So I'm driving home late at night, few cars on the highway, I turn off the radio and I hear a faint, very high pitched whine coming from the engine bay when going 40-50 mph. It sounds like an electric motor spinning at high speed and frankly it's a bit irritating. The sound is there whether the engine is running and charging the battery, the car is using the traction battery or it's coasting and regenerating power. The sound stops for a moment if I gently accelerate and then lift off, but it comes back on coasting.
It's different from the louder, low pitched subway-train sound that comes from regen braking at low speed. Could this be the dreaded CVT whine reviewers complain about? Or is it the normal sound of the MG1 unit? This car is really quiet so weird noises pop up more.
