I have a chirping/ squeaking sound in the engine extremely noticeable on idle. It's not the actual belt because it continues the noise much after the car is heated up. Have no clue what it is, I have 145000 miles. Also when running the engine hard notice a hissing sound sort of like turbo at high rpms especially with ac on high.
View 3 RepliesThe day after I purchased the Accent I noticed that when idle I would hear a chirping/cricket sound emanating somewhere in the engine bay area, closer to the cockpit of the vehicle. As soon as I'd touch the clutch the sound would disappear, now I'm not talking about pressing it hard, the ever so slightest touch would silence the noise.
Now I asked this question here already but I thought I'd ask you directly. I was told throw out bearing and other clutch related possibilities. Now I have a two year warranty so I brought it to the dealership and of course, Murphy's law wouldn't you know it, the sound did not present itself the entire time I was there! lol Now I came to the conclusion (albeit a total hypothesis ) that it was raining, or had rained the days the sound wasn't present or diminished enough that I couldn't hear it anymore. I figured maybe it's because they need new grease perhaps and when it rains the viscosity of the current grease changed enough to lube the part properly.
Either way the dealership of course said there's nothing they could find wrong with Eleanor, and I sh!t you not the moment I brought her back home it started making the sound again! Should I be worried? Last thing I need is the clutch or something else dying and I find out I could have prevented it.
Had the car for less than a week and I'm getting a constant chirping/cricket sound, the moment I touch the clutch even slightly it stops. Sound is gone when clutch is touched in any way or engaged. My first thought is Throw Out Bearing, or perhaps pilot bearing?

I am getting a strange chirping sound from the engine (during idle) on my 7 month old RX350..Is this pretty common ... experienced a strange howling engine sound when you accelerate the car( E.g. when you are going at 30 mph and want to speed to 60 mph), I can hear this when I turn off all the noise (radio) and drive on a quiet street...
View 14 RepliesMy car has been making this chirping noise for a couple weeks now, and I can't figure out what is causing it. It's really bothering me.
The noise is sinked in with the rpms. While in neutral or while I have the clutch in, the noise stops. The higher the rpms I'm running, the faster the sound goes. I opened the hood the other day to see if I could figure it out, but all I found out from that is it sounds like it's coming from under the engine cover.
Engine? Maybe a component near it? Maybe it's just the cold weather constricting parts to a smaller size?
Changed timing belt after several teeth being stripped. Engine runs but won't idle without foot on gas pedal. Drives smooth as long above 2000 rpm. Thinking there is one or more slightly bent valves. Quadruple checked timing marks. Coils are good. Fuel injectors are good. Spark plugs are new NGK's. DTC's are 0300, 0301, 0302, 0303, 0304 - misfiring.
Have a line on a low mileage head with warranty. 2007 Accent 1.6L?
My 2013 Prius v (lowercaes v for the Prius v wagon, not an uppercase v) has right at 4100 miles on it. In the past few months, I had to get the entire odometer/instrument panel swapped out when it developed crazing lines, hazy circles.
After fighting with a couple of dealers and them blaming me for the defects in this failed part, the original dealer finally replaced it. Now I'm hearing a chirping/squeaking sound whenever accelerating that seems to be coming from this same area. The back seat/door on the drivers side also rattles, but that's a separate problem.
This is the most squeaky, rattly car I've ever owned. And that includes a 1966 Mustang, which wasn't the best car ever made. I'm pretty disappointed in Toyota's "quality" which appears sub-standard compared to the Chevy and Ford's I've owned. But that to the side, what this squeak is? It sounds exactly (and I mean exactly) like this ....
2002 Volvo S40. My son bought his first car. It was inspected a week before he bought it, and has about 50,000 miles. It seemed to drive fine when he purchased it, but after a few days, he heard a squeaking/ chirping sound (that seemed to be coming from the left front side of the car) when he accelerated. The sound stops when he brakes hard. He took the car to a mechanic who told him that he needed new brake pads (front and rear).
He replaced the front pads, but the sound persisted. He went to another mechanic who told him that the pads were not put on properly and smoothed the rotor. The sound decreased for a short time and then returned. The mechanic says that the rotor looks fine, but is now recommending that he replace it since adjusting the brake pad and smoothing the rotor is not working.
As the title says, I have a 2013 accent with an automatic transmission and 63k miles. Just bought it, used. The car seems to be fine, except I've noticed that when I am giving the engine some gas and it has work to do, i.e. accelerating or going up a hill, it will squeek / chirp a bit, but only between 1800 and 2000 rpm. Its not very loud, and goes away when it's outside of that rpm range. It seems to happen more often once the engine is warm and when the car is already at speed, rather than when it's revving in park or accelerating from a standstill.

It's a bit quiet, sry about that, all I have is windows movie maker. The sound is present at 0:08, 0:16, 0:36, and 0:45.
Is this something I should worry about? I saw another thread which mentioned "dieseling", a sound like a diesel engine caused by a bad knock sensor, leading to incorrect ignition/valve timing. It sounds a little bit like a diesel engine to me, is this the same thing?
OK, car has 94K miles, never had anything done to it, and the timing belt stripped out a bunch of teeth and bent the valves, you know the usual deal.
Pulled the engine apart, and order a head gasket set and scored a low miles head from a salvage yard. I was told the engine it came from was running fine but had a damaged timing cover so they parted out the engine, when i got the head the timing belt gear was bent and cracked, but i couldn't see any other damage and all looked good so i put it all in, and after having some trouble getting good info on where the timing marks are suppose to go i got it all back together and went to fire it up, start and die a couple times, i figured it was the fuel system re-priming itself, car starts and is running rough, i give it a few small revs and above about 2K it seems to run fine, but has def misfires at idle.
While i was looking around the engine bay checking over stuff i can hear a definite buzzing sound coming from the injectors, which i can tell you isn't normal, and is causing my problem i believe. The injector plugs are pretty straight forward, so im pretty sure i have them in the right spots.
The CEL came on, and i plugged in my code reader but was unable to connect to the ECM for some reason. Are these cars can bus?
Ok so I have I 2007 hyundai accent with a weird problem. When the car is in normal operating temperature (180-210) and stopped at a stoplight or stop sign the car will have a fluctuating idle. This problem only happens when the car is at idle and with the heat or air conditioning on. With the heat and the air condition off the car will do it once in a great while. Things I have done so far. Replace the pcv valve clean the egr. To me it sounds like a voltage problem like the car is having too much load at idle. But I am unsure. Took it to a mechanic the other day and he couldn't replicate the problem.
View 4 Replies2007 Manual - I am getting a chirping noise/grinding noise. It happens in 3rd-5th gear and only for the first 15mins of driving. Stops making the noise after that. It happens sometimes when releasing the clutch pedal. Sometimes it occurs while accelerating and not touching clutch pedal at all. That mostly happens in 5th gear around 60mph. Thinking it has to do with trans, possibly throw out bearing. Not sure though.
View 13 RepliesSo my 2010 with 20k miles on it just started to have some jingling/chirping noises around the drive belt area. It isn't all that loud but i can hear it. Could this be just a simple loose belt? Are our belts auto adjusting or manually adjusted? The noise increases with engine rpm in all gears and in neutral. Is def coming from the belt area.
One pulley does seem like it is not perfectly round and I can see some very slight run out from side to side. Nothing really obvious though - that might be normal?
I bought a 2005 Hyundai Accent about 5-6 months ago, GS 2 Dr model, 52,000kms (69,000 on her now), and lately she has been making a weird ticking sound form the engine when idle, if you give her some gas it slowly goes away as your RPMS increase. I had my father look at it, he said it seems fine, i also had a garage look at it and they also said its fine, but too me the engine sounds different then it did when i got it, maybe the cold from the winter could be doing this? when the engine is heated up it still makes the noise.

View 21 RepliesI have a 2010 Elantra Touring, manual transmission. At about 30,000 miles it developed an odd feature which continues through the present time with just under 50,000 miles. At any speed and on any road from time to time I suddenly get a loud interior noise like driving right next to a train running on a track. There is no vibration, just a very loud rumbling sound drowning out the radio. Goes away after a few minutes, does not recur on the same piece of road, same temperature, or same time of day. When it first occurred the dealer inspected it and though they could not hear it they divined that the aftermarket cruise control mounting bracket had become loose and was vibrating. They tightened it and the sound went away for a year but is now back louder than ever. I checked the bracket and it is tight and the dealer can find nothing loose. The bumper to bumper warranty is about to expire. I am thinking a crack in a steel bearing surface or a bad weld causing a vibration running through the body. Again I feel no actual vibration through the steering wheel.
View 12 Replies2008 lexus es350 -- chirping noise from serpentine belt area. Chirping starts after a bit of driving. Got belt replaced, mechanic says it is water pump (as he says he saw marking and could be a prior leak), but I don't want to do this trial and error.
I got belt replaced by the mechanic who said wold fix the problem but did not. Should I replace water pump as it is expense on es350 and only to have chirping noise not fixed as it could be something else like alignment or idler pulley etc.
I have been looking for a solution to a noise my 07 S60R GT has been making for about two months now. After a cold start there is a chriping/whistling noise that lasts a few minutes at idle. The noise will go away at idle but is constant under heavy load in any gear. The Volvo dealer told me it was the SNABB intake but the noise started well after I installed this with no noise initially. They said its not from sepentine belt or pulleys. It sounds as though its coming from the turbo area. Car still drives/pulls fine but makes shrieking / chirping / whistle when I get on it ( which is most of the time).
View 1 Replies2008 ES350 with 170k miles. My wife drives the car almost exclusively but we went on a road trip and I had the opportunity to drive it for a few hours.
I noticed at idle there is a chirping sounds from the belt area like it could be a water pump or another pulley going out.
Other data points:
At speeds over 80mph I feed a vibration in the steering wheel. we are 1k over getting the tires rotated so that may clear this issue up.
low speed in a parking lot I had the wheel at full lock turning and it felt like it "slipped" and it made a noise. This made me think the power steering pump could be what is going out.
I need to check the fluid levels tonight and see if either is leaking ( there is nothing on the garage floor)
Are there any good DIY's for a waterpump or power steering pump replacement? Once I diagnose the problem I would like to fix it myself.
Are these common issues with the ES350?
My 06 f150 5.4 3v has developed this miss in the last 1000 miles which is very annoying and fuel consuming. Its most noticeable at idle where the engine quivers and at highway rpms where it will start to vibrate when being slightly worked. I have already changed the cops and plugs, and there are no codes coming up.
View 6 RepliesI own a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006 V8 4.7 with 133,000 miles. This week I went to a Quick Service Oil Change , after receiving an oil change they informed me I needed a Differential Fluid Change , that I "should have " had one at my last visit and couldn't wait any longer. After receiving the two , I left and not even fifteen minutes later , I attempted to use my breaks approaching the end of the highway.
Instantly the car started making an extremely long banging / thumping sounds along with the a lot of shaking and the car proceed to dead right there. I got it towed home , the company is supposed to send some one to come do a once over. What it could be? As sad as it sounds, I have a feeling they will do a look over and claim they don't know what is wrong or that it isn't there fault in any way.
