I cant open the hood on my accent. Pulling on the latch handle I can tell there is no pull. It is slack.
I tried pulling the cable with pliers but it didn't work. Pressing the hood latch under the hood does nothing, the hood is tight and wont budge.
My battery also just died last night.
We have a 2006 Pontiac with no problems, except all of the sudden the hood won't open! We pull on the latch inside the car and nothing! No, the cable isn't broken ...
View 2 RepliesMy brake pedal went right to the floor yesterday. I knew my rear brake was squealing so assumed it was my pads worn out. I went and bought pads. Fronts were half gone, rear was all gone. I couldn't get the rear tire off the back passenger(I even loosened lug nuts and drove up and down street) so only 3 replaced for now. Second time in a row rear brakes wore out well before the fronts.. Well, while that tire(I tighted it up again) soaked in pbblaster I drove it around for the day. Lost brakes again. After a few pumps I gained pressure. In the driveway I pumped and pumped and pumped the brakes.
Eventually I did see the leak all over the driveway. Of course it's on the tire I can't get off. So I checked the brake fluid. It was down but still visible. Closed hood. Then came back to car an hour later and now hood won't open. I had my wife pull the lever inside the car and you can hear it moving under the hood but I can't pop the hood up in order to get my hand under there to release the lever. Is there a trick to open the hood manually? My old dodge stealth had a small hole you could get to with a long screwdriver to open the hood manually. I thought most cars have a trick like that that isn't well published so people can't break into the hood. Does the camry have one? Now what?
My hood has ceased to pop open when I pull the latch from the interior release. I removed the panel to see if the cable came undone from the release lever but it is still intact. From what I can tell, the cable seems to be snapped in the middle. I brought the car to 2 different mechanics, both said they would have to do damage to get under the hood. But I've read online and it seems other people are able to do it.
View 5 RepliesI have a 1997 Ford Econoline conversion campervan that I don't use very often. I need to open the hood to jump start the battery. Last time I opened the hood I did not notice anything wrong with the hood or the hood release latch inside the cab. Now when I pulled the hood release latch inside the cab, nothing happens to the hood at all (the hood does not open at all).
Is there a way I can open the hood or do I need to tow it to my mechanic?
It's cold and raining quite hard out and I just took my car out to the store and when I pulled into the parking spot a very loud squealing noise began coming from under the hood (sounded like driver side). I turned the car off and restarted and it was still there. I turned it off again and started it and it was gone. I drove the car home without issue and restarted a couple of times with no noise. The car ran great otherwise. What that was? I know very little about cars. It scared the crap out of me--it sounded quite loud--more of a screeching sound.

View 12 RepliesOn my Hyundai Accent 2007 (3 door) I accidentally closed tail gate without pushing the outside handle off me, as the manual recommends. After that I am unable to open the tail gate, neither manually turning the key clockwise nor with keyless fob by pushing UNLOCK button. I do hear that it unlocks however when pulling handle towards me, I simply can't open the hatch. Driver's and passenger doors open and close fine. I've checked the manual from cover to cover and verified every single thing that it talks about, but still no result.
View 4 RepliesI just bought 2008 hyundai accent with 51,000 miles and it drives great. Only issue so far is the trunk latch sticks when i open it, and i have to unstick it to close. I ordered an OEM handle from the dealer in hopes that it's the part i need. Any tips on how to replace. I pulled the trim off to look under there and spray some lubricant on it. But not sure how complicated the latch will be to replace.
View 13 RepliesI have a problem, the passenger front door won't open from inside or out, neither handle on the inside or out works.
The lock goes up and down and the handles move but you can feel that they are not connected to anything. I took it to two mechanics and they shrugged.
If I can't open the door, I can't take the panels off and look inside the door. What I can do? I hate to destroy my door panel.
1) After 10000km the car started to develop some front suspension knocking sound going over potholes. After three trips to a dealer they finally said that it was a loose stabilizer bar which apparently is "very common". They tightened it and the problem seemed to go away. Now after 40000km the problem seems to have came back. I am starting to think that maybe it is somehow related to cold temperature because it seems to get a little better once the car has been warmed up and it has been going for some time.
I don't really care about the noise, but I want Hyundai to fix it if there really is a problem.
2) When driving 40-60km/h with the sunroof open I get a resonant wobbling sound. If I open one of the windows just a bit it disappears. Sounds like a poor sunroof wind deflector design to me. (I have driven Mazdaz and Hondas with sunroofs and none of them had that problem)
3) Whats up with those super heavy 16' aluminum wheels!!!! Is it just me or it feels like they weigh more then the steel ones? The car even feels faster when I put on my winter tires on steel rims.
Other then that the car has been pretty good. I am not getting anywhere near the factory specified fuel efficiency 6.5-7.5l/100km hwy and 8-9l/100km city, but I do drive it fairly hard, so that is OK. It still amazes me though that my 15yr old civic was getting the same mileage with a comparable performance. You would think that there would be some progress in automotive technology....
2006 Accent. Today I was stunned to find the inside driver's handle no longer opened the door : I'm sitting here with my door panel almost completely off, the only thing I'm stuck on is the manual window crank
I've been searching around google and here, all I can really find is that it's a huge PITA, and you're supposed to use a hook to pull out a C-Clip.
I really can't see this C-Clip. Or even make contact with it, if it is there. I've been pulling the crank back and peaking inside ever so slightly and I'm just not seeing anything. With a hook in there, I spun the crank hoping I'd feel a 'bump' or 'nudge' of the clip against my hook (bent metal wire), but honestly I've got nothing.
I have a 07 gs350. My car wouldn't start this morning let alone turn on. I heard this constant beeping noise coming from the hood and it was the battery. I unplugged the battery and the noise stopped. But once I plugged it back in the noise came back. I was in a rush to get to work this morning so I just unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes before plugging it back in to see if it work.. it did not. This battery is only about 1 year old too.
View 3 RepliesBought a used 2007 Azera Limited last week. Yesterday, the car was parked outside and there were thunderstorms but I didn't hear the car alarm go off. Today, I was unable to get into my car. The locks wont open from the remote or using the key. Wonder whats wrong !
Even the emergency alarm (red button on the remote) won't work. I can see a red blinking light from the top of the dash that indicates that the car is locked.
Not a great first week of ownership. Tried to open my hood tonite and find there is no tension whatsoever on the hood release lever. On my Corrado, I can pop it over w/ a screwdiver thru the grille, can this be done on a B6? It even looks like there is a cut out between the grille & hood to get at the release, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Oh wait and my rear-view mirror has a bunch of black inside the mirror.
I will probably have a bunch of stuff for sale soon. BC-R coils with Swift springs , AC front lip, Rear ISF difuser, Lexus Japan Visors and some mods.
My hood does not want to open. The hood will not pop up enough to allow me to unlatch it and open it. Currently, the workaround is to insert a very thin screwdriver into the weatherstriping between the hood and the bumper and gently "nudge" the hood open.
View 19 RepliesI have a used 2010. Came home to my car rifled through (I left it unlocked) door not completely closed, 12v battery dead because of interior lights. Jumped it. Got it into ready mode. Thought I left it on enough to charge the battery. Locked it. Unlocked and locked it with the fob... no problem.
Came back later in the day, now dead and locked. Car didn't come with manual key. Very expensive to replace so i skipped it. Is that now my only solution without damaging the car? How to open the hood so I can jump it?
A/C is working, 45-47 degrees at idle. All fan speeds work. Air direction control is working, air to defroster, face and feet all seem to change when asked.
Issue is very low airflow, 4-6 inches out of the vents and no air can be felt.
Checked cabin air filter and while it could use to be replaced, removal of filter and replacement of the cover DOES NOT INCREASE AIRFLOW.
Where to look next?
I am getting "Hood Open" warning even though it was closed. I tried open and close it for several time but it is still showing the same warning. Where to look for the sensor and what steps needs to be taken for taking care of this issue.
