I recently changed my Hyundai Accent 2004 rings and top cylinder. a day after I left the mechanic garage, the car started bringing out white smokes particularly when I rev.
View 2 RepliesAfter changing the PCV valve, I decided to rev the engine to test if it was installed tightly. I noticed the engine was not hot yet, but I still revved the engine to 4000 RPM for about 20 seconds (the most stupid thing I have done), then I saw white smoke coming from the engine. I didn't check if there was smoke out of exhaust pipe. After searching the web, I realized I might have damaged the head gasket.
The car is still drivable, and the temperature was normal during the driving. But I feel really bad since I have killed the engine. So, how much damage I might have possibly done to the engine?
I recently bought a accent, changed the oil then upon starting it back up it just pours out white smoke from the exhaust. i might have put a little too much oil in, would that cause the issue? It didn't happen before the oil change either.

I added some oil one day, started to stall out. I had to jump start it. Ran for 5 minutes fine then huge white smelly smoke from exhaust. I haven't tried to start it since.
Recently I have had many problems with my 2000 7.3l .... The one I cant get rid of is the p1316 code. I have changed out the uvc harness and gasket with new ones, then removed valve cover's to double check connections again and they are fine. I am getting white smoke and the truck misses. I do not have a advanced reader for the codes just using my edge programmer. I have also disconnected the battery and cleared the code but it comes right back.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2000 accent. Automatic tranny with 167000 miles. My current problem is the car is misfiring upon acceleration and engine revving. I have to accelerate very slowly to minimize this but i once the engine revs up enough I can give it more gas and it will rev normally with plenty of power. I have had to unplug the maf to keep it driveable. Ive never had a car stay running after disconnecting the maf so this is strange to me. My accent barely stays running with the maf connected. I just got the car from my dad and he had it fixed and it ran good for awhile with the maf connected so I don't think it is the maf. But the same problem came about and we had to disconnect the maf again. And he cant remember or is not sure what was exactly fixed on the car. I've read up about the purge control valve and havent had a chance to check it out but some of the symptoms fit.

Seems like I've lose a bit too much considering it's only got 30k on it now (bought it at 10k). Initially smelled coolant and complained but they said it was the undercoating burning off (new car coating) - which to an extent has been correct as I rarely smell it now.
That said, I have no visible leaks to my knowledge but it's still slowly losing coolant. I've yet to need to top it off as it's still between the hot and cold lines (yes I've checked on level ground and made sure to check both hot and cold for variance but it's clearly lower then when I bought it).
Now what scares me more then anything is that I notice a bit of smoke on start up. It does not smell like coolant but it's far more then I typically ever see from just moisture burning off.
I've had vehicles sit for months that don't smoke as much on start up. It will subside eventually but it just seems to be a rather excessive amount and unfortunately I can't tell if it is happening under acceleration, etc.
First though is coolant getting in / head gasket as the idle has been slightly rough....
I know, sounds like blown head gasket. However oil looks fine, no coolant leaking and coolant looks fine. It also does not overheat (that I can see, it dies first). This all started a few weeks ago. I changed spark plugs, oil and undercoated the car with primer. I did get some paint on the radiator. I also put techron in the fuel tank and changed fuel filter. The car ran fine before, now here is what is happening step for step.
Car starts fine, idle is a bit rough (it was before too) but nothing drastic. I rev car at 2500 RPM until it is warm. The thermostat stays in the middle yet I begin to see a good amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. If I take foot off the accelerator the car will shut off at this point. If the car is not warm yet, it won't shut off. When it does shut off, I cannot restart it even with gas pedal down. It just cranks and cranks. When I let it cool down it starts up fine and the same thing occurs. I cannot tell if the radiator fans are turning on as the car dies before they turn on (it's cool outside). The thermostat never indicates overheating.
The entire radiator is smoking white (not from cap) but I assume that is from my paint overspray burning off. Could this be getting sucked in and stalling the car out when the car warms up enough to start burning off the paint? Could I have painted something inappropriate? What could this be? I know a decent amount about cars.
If I let the car warm up just by idling it will run until it gets warm then it stalls and again, won't start until it cools. It seems to keep running if I keep RPMS up but right when I take foot off accelerator when warm it shuts off.
I've got 120,000 on my 08 manual Accent. Recently I've been getting white smoke after running it hard. It happens like this. I slow down from 70mph or so with the clutch engaged to about 40mph, then upon acceleration the engine stumbles and white smoke pours from the tailpipe. My guess is a leaky head gasket.
I had the dealer go through it. They pressure tested the cylinders and put a scope in them. They claim nothing is wrong with the engine.
I mentioned since they can vouch for the engine now, I'd like to get an estimate on trade in value. I don't think I want to keep it much longer.
I got a 2002 accent 1.3 si, engine warning light comes on but doesn't seem to affect cars running, no misfires, no stalling, still good acceleration and mpg, occasional engine revving on its own, changed tps sensor and engine revving on its own was worse. Was told by hyundai mechanic to disconnect battery for 30 seconds and if light went out it was either faulty tps sensor or an intermittent non constant fault reading, light did go out for some time but is now back on.
View 1 RepliesI have just changed my clutch and machined my flywheel on my 1.5ltr 16v dohc 2000 lc accent. I used all the correct trans fluid and refilled and bled the clutch fluid. It takes of from lights like a new car but if you put your foot down around 40kph it revs out a bit and does so through all gears untill you reach a bit of speed. What is going on?
View 11 RepliesI have replaced the MAF sensor, TPS sensor, and fuel filter. Like the title says...if I rev the engine ...as soon as I let off the accelerator the engine stumbles and almost dies...then settles back down. I initially pulled codes PO121 so I replaced the TPS. PO103 so I replaced the MAF sensor. PO112..did not address directly as I assumed the MAF was causing. PO1123...again I hoped the parts I replaced would solve the problem. Initially the engine would just drop out while driving just for an instant and then be fine...also I had the 4 codes mentioned above. The only code that has returned is the PO121. I just got done replacing the fuel filter and things seem to be worse.
View 1 RepliesI just purchased an '06 V10 a couple weeks ago. Today, I was about 11miles into my 15mile commute when I noticed A LOT of white smoke coming out of the back. The only time I'd seen smoke like that before was just before my old Ford Explorer caught fire. I immediately pulled over and took a look. White smoke (maybe steam?) was billowing out of the exhaust.
I say steam, because it didn't have the strong diesel smell I would've expected. I decided I couldn't sit there parked by the highway, so I got back in the car, checked warning lights and pulled out. Within 1/2 mile, it was gone. Nothing. No more problems the rest of the way. What this might have been? I have 1100 miles on the vehicle and this is the first time it's happened.
Just the other day I was driving my car till I've noticed the gears started slipping. At first it was having some issues shifting through the gears (automatic transmission btw). As soon as I got off the highway, I parked in a parking lot just to check underneath the hood. Everything looked fine, went to pull out of the parking lot, no reverse. The gears started to slip up really bad. I noticed that the RPM's kept on reving up and wouldn't go any faster than 20mph. I went to an advance auto parts to get automatic transmission fluid. Still having the same issue and no reverse either. I had to park the car at a location to get it towed back to my house. Some people are saying my transmission is bad, some say it could be a real simple fix. Where to start diagnosing this issue. The car was driving normally until last Monday. My question is where should I start to check and what can I do to see if the transmission is completely shot??
View 33 RepliesI went to dinner tonight and on the way home I noticed white smoke, coming from pipes. It's 42 degrees outside. I didn't notice any from any cars I saw beside me. I saw it when I got home. It didn't have any smell to it at all. It just felt warm. My girl friends car was not making any smoke either. I have never seen any during the day when it was warmer out.
View 12 RepliesHow much white smoke do you see coming out of the muffler? I've been seeing it while idling at stop light in my mirrors, and also see it in my backup camera while backing up. This is happening when the engine is already in normal operating temperature.
Been reading google and getting panicky about white smoke meaning that coolant is leaking and getting burned in the engine.
When you check your coolant reservoir, where between the F and the L is it normally supposed to be when the engine is Hot, or Cold?
I have a ton of white smoke coming from my exhaust pipe only after it ran a long time then is started back up ????

Then when I'm driving and my turbo boost lets out a big cloud of smoke comes out. What could this be? Also just filled my car up with gas from empty today if that matters

I dont know if both these issues are related, but when i turn on the heat my car shakes really, really bad. Over the summer the ac would never pump out cold air. So i just never turn on the ac/heat

View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 model accent manual trans its just recently clocked 200 000 km I know the car has had problems but they are getting worse. Occasionally I have Problems starting the car in the past but it usually takes no more than 5 turns to get started but this is getting worse the other day it took about 5 min maybe more to get the car started I am guessing my starter motor probably Needs to be changed.
Next problem yesterday after I put a full tank of Premium 98 in the car its starts to rev itself changing the sound and note of the motor running constantly it has done this in the past but not so severely and It only seem to do so after putting petrol Especially when I put fuel From a servo I don't usually go to the car would have stalled more than once but didn't only because I tried to keep the revs up when it sounded like it was gunna die also I am pretty sure my fan was making some weird noises but the car has had no engine Light show and no Overheating.
