I'm getting ready to replace my passenger side control arm after it had broken. Is it recommended to change the drivers side too? Is is also necessary to get an alignment?

- Car won't start ...
- Remote key unlocks the car fine
- When put the key in the ignition and turn 'on' the little key indicator on the cluster doesn't come on.
- Left overnight and tried again in the morning, key indicator come on and then disappeared and wasn't able to start car.
- Key indicator now won't come on.
I spoke to mechanic and he said replace the immobilizer control module and reprogram key..
I drive a 2005 Accent. Approximately a few months ago, I noticed water leaking in the passenger floor and near the kick plate. So I soaked up the water and put a bit of foil over the right side of the windshield, directly on the cowl cover. That seemed to do the trick. I then removed it the next day when the rain stopped. A few days later it rained again, but this time, there was no leak. It rained off-and-on for weeks and the leak never came back. Recently we've had some heavy rain, and the leak has returned.
What could be causing this, especially since the leak only seems to happen in heavy rain? I'd like to take the cowl cover off and look at the fresh air intake, but I snapped off one of those plastic rivets that holds it down, and I don't know where to buy replacements.
Have a 2004 accent that is having an issue with the passenger side headlight going out. Checked bulb and it s ok, put it all back together and light works fine.
The plastic at the top fitting for the connector to the bulb is melted took connector off to check voltages at the three pins and have 12v on each pin( i don't think this is correct sounds like they are shorted out) , on the drivers side headlight top pin has about 2.3 v( for high beam) right side pin has 12v ( low beam) and left side pin 0 v( ground)
Also with the car off and parking brake off headlights do not come on only daytime running lights. Shouldnt headlights work on low and high beam with car off. All fine with car running.
What is the correct voltages for headlight connectors and if the headlights should work with car off.
I have a 2005 accent. For the last couple of days every time I hit a bump in the road I get a not so nice clunking sound from the back passenger side wheel well. And when I make a right hand turn I hear a scraping sound coming from the same area. Is this sounds like a problem with the shock or strut, or could it be something more serious. If the shock was busted why do I hear a scraping sound when I make a right hand turn?
View 1 RepliesWithin the last few days whenever I am backing up there tends to be a low hum noise coming from the passenger side tire when backing up and with no pressure on the brakes. The noise is not present at any time other then backing up so I am really unsure what could be causing it.
What could be causing this before I work on it. I know its not having any problem braking as well as it is also driving straight when the steering wheel is let go in drive.
My 06 accent GLS has become difficult to start only after refueling, which I'm guessing is related to a bad purge control valve from what I've read. Where exactly is the valve located, and is this something that someone with relatively little automotive repair experience could do on their own? I think I've located it on the backside of the engine near the air intake.
View 2 RepliesMy passenger side power window does not work from the drivers side control, but works from the passenger control. I replaced the master switch on the driver side and it still does not work. I have checked the fuses--Side, below and under the hood and have even found inline fuses below--all were good. Could the dealer have to program my new switch? I do not have child safety locks.
View 2 RepliesReplaced the battery on my 07 the other day, and subsequently discovered my passenger side power window would not open or close from driver side control switch. Initially thought the worse of course, that I needed a new motor for the passenger side window. Then I tried the passenger side window switch and the window worked fine.
So now, I think that the switch for the passenger side window (on the driver's side) is bad, and I will need to replace the whole switch control module. Did a search and found the root cause and solution to the problem. Apparently, after replacing a battery, I needed to RESET the passenger side switch from the passenger side, by HOLDING the switch approx. 3 seconds after raising and lowering the window two times.
I just finished replacing my timing belt, water pump and all belts. I made sure to double check the timing marks lined up via this pic:

I put everything back together and no go. I am not sure what to do now. Should the crank sprocket pulley be in a special starting position? I see is has a "1" engraved on it.
I am trying to replace my control arm but I am having a few problems,
1. the front bolt on the frame side just spins but doesn't come out.
2. I cant get the bolt in the spindle to come out, I have been hammering away at it and even broke 2 sockets trying to spin it, still cant get it to move.
Replaced this gasket that seems to be leaking oil. Looks simple enough, is there anything i should do or know before taking on this job? It's a 2002 Accent GS 1.5L ....

When I turn on my High Beams, it stops making the noise. It sounds like there's a relay that Isn't working like its supposed to be. So, I've thought of replacing it, but I`m not sure if its the DRL that's defective or just a wiring problem...

View 8 RepliesSo I installed a new radio in my car today and connected everything besides the dimming and illuminating wires since my new head unit didn't have one. I connected everything that i needed to like ground power and power from the ignition switch. Radio doesn't turn on at all.
After installing this new radio the climate control doesn't light up anymore. Checked all the fuses under the dash on the driver side and under the hood. All of them are good. Is there any other reason the head unit and the climate control lights wouldn't work.
The clock, a/c and the thing defroster lights work. same with the ash tray light. seems to me that the only light that isn't working is the climate control light and the radio doesn't power on at all.
Alright, after taking everything off and replacing all the joints/bushings, I am left with the control arm. (it hasn't been easy either)
I am at the control arm (Passenger side) and i got the rear bushing loose. I managed to brake the front one loose, with a lot of force, but it spins. I see in HMA that it has a bolt, or so it appears, but how on earth do you get to that?
What is the procedure for changing the passenger side boot on the power steering? I've read the Chilton repair manual, looks too easy.
View 6 RepliesI just bought a 2007 Lexus ES 350 last month with 40k miles and I LOVE the car. I took it in for it's first oil change today at the dealership and they found a leak in the passenger side axle. There was grease all over the place and they told me I needed a new axle. They mentioned it looked like the damage was pretty recent. There is a remanufactured Lexus part they offered for $300. If I let them replace it, the total including an alignment will cost me $650. My question is.... Can I buy the part and replace it myself, then get the alignment done at the dealer to avoid all the labor fees. I consider myself mechanically inclined. Have done my own fair share of maintenance work from oil changes to valve cover gasket replacements.
