Accent LC (2000-05) :: Just Stopped In The Middle Of Driving - Not Turning Back On

Had no problems until a month ago the car just stopped in the middle of driving it. It hasn't turned back on since. It cranks and sounds great, just won't turn over.

Here's everything we've changed so far:

spark plugs
ignition coils
fuel filter
fuel pump
fuel pump relay
crank shaft sensor
added gas

If there's something we're missing.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: P0422 Code Pop Back Up After About 40 - 60 Miles Of Driving When Cleared

My 2000 Hyundai Accent Hatchback (manual) is tripping the code P0422 (Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)). If i clear the code it will pop back up after about 40-60 miles of driving. I hooked my OBDII sensor to it and look at the voltage output from the two O2 sensors and the front one oscillates between .2 to .7V and the downstream one does as well switching about at the rate. From my understanding the downstream O2 sensor should stay fairly steady or at least switch much slower than the upstream one. I get pretty good gas mileage, typ. ~30mpg. Luckily my state does not have emission testing. Is it actually the catalytic converter, the downstream O2 sensor or something else?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2004 - Constant Hissing Noise Coming From The Middle Of Engine Compartment

My 04 hyundai accent about 2-3 months ago acquired a hissing noise which seems to be coming from the middle of the engine compartment. The car only has 100,000 miles on it.

It is a constant hiss that only stops when the gas pedal is pushed initially. I have looked all over the car and can not see any fluids leaking at all. It is pretty loud and can be heard easily outside the car when the car is on.

I hooked up my obd2 reader and found these codes:

P0304-Cylinder 4 misfire (I notice it when the car sits at idle for about a minute)

2x P0121- Throttle Position circuit range/performance problem

2x- Evaporative emission incorrect purge flow.

Friend of mine has a 2000 Passat. He has a weird problem. The car will just shut off in the middle of driving and won't start for 1-2 hours.. the ECU was already replaced, along with some sensors.

Bmw - 318 :: Gauges Flipping Back And Forth When Driving Or Stopped

I have a 1995 BMW 318i and my gauges freak out when I drive or when I am stopped. All of them, not just one or two, like flip back and forth over and over and then eventually will return to their accurate readings. Then they do it again and again. It's not always the same how long they do it for and sometime they will go a whole day without doing it and then other days like today they just dont stop.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2001 GLS - Back Lights Will Not Go Off

I recently got a car, but for some reason I just have this small issue.

My tail lights or brake lights stay on, and I can't seem to have them go off. I checked the switches for the lights, all of them work, but the back lights will not go off.

It's a 2001 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4 door.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2008 - Overdrive Has Stopped Working

I'm new and just read a thread from 2008 talking about malfunctioning overdrive. My overdrive has stopped working. It was intermittent for a while and now won't come on. A recommendation was made to replace the transmission sensor cable. How do I find/access the sensor cable for my transmission? Is there a website that shows pictures and gives instructions.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Speedometer Stopped Working With The Odometer

On my Accent I'm having problems with the speedometer. Speedometer stopped working with the odometer as well. My temp gauge and gas gauge work fine. Check engine light came on, gave code p0501 which is the speed sensor. Just had Firestone replace it but it didn't fix the problem.

He gave me two conflicting things. He said that when he span the gears at the end of the cable there was nothing going on at the speedometer.

But then he said that the cable wasn't making contact with whatever it needs to in the transmission. So he said it was something in the transmission.

My problem with that is, if it was something in the transmission, shouldn't the speedometer have moved when he span the end of the cable with his hand? What else could it be?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2002 - Swaying When Turning Left

I have a 2002 Accent that has recently started to sway side to side when I'm turning left. It almost feels like the back end is swaying but it's hard to tell. I've recently had the CV Boots replaced as they were torn but I don't think that's related at all.

I'm wondering if it could be the suspension. I've looked at all the wheel housing and checked the steering rod for any play but everything seems fine. If it could be the suspension how would I go about checking it.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Car Is Turning Over But Won't Start - Immobilizer Fault

Anyway my issue is, my car is turning over but wont start. I notice that it will only start when the yellow immobilizer light comes on and then goes off.
If I try to start when there is no immobilizer light it wont fire up.

I have to take out the key and wait 20 secs. When I turn back on the ignition and I see the yellow immobilizer light, I know it will start?? The immobilizer light goes out when the car starts. Whats up or should I continue what I'm doing...

I recently noticed that I'm getting a high pitched whining noise after I drive anywhere then stop and turn off the car. The noise is a buzzing/whining sound that lasts about 10-15 seconds and then stops. The noise sounds like it's an electronic component maybe having to do with the transmission? What it might be?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Repeated Click Or Grinding Sound When Turning

This started a few months ago. At first it only happened when making a hard right turn, its a repeated click or grinding noise. Over time it has gotten worse, and now happens when turning either direction, and its worse the faster the car is going. Turing into the parking space at our apartment is fine... turning from one street to another going to work is not. Various things I looked up suggested the cv joint, but when I went to parts stores websites to look up prices all it gave me was cv boot kits in the results. Is this whats actually wrong, and is it something easily fixed for a DIY person?

On my way home the speedometer stopped working and the air bag light came on. The odometer is still tracking distance and one other odd thing, the radio volume goes out as soon as the clutch is released. Tried a scanner and there are no codes.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Engine Making A Lot Noise Coming From Just The Back Of Head

I have a 2001 1.6 DOHC Accent the engine has been making a lot noise coming form just the back of the head it kinda sounds like a diesel. I pulled the valve cover off and turned the engine over by hand. I noticed that cam chain has a good amount of slack in it. Is there a tensioner to take slack out of the chain? If so can I adjust it? If not how do I replace the chain?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Clunking Sound From Back Passenger Side Wheel Well

I have a 2005 accent. For the last couple of days every time I hit a bump in the road I get a not so nice clunking sound from the back passenger side wheel well. And when I make a right hand turn I hear a scraping sound coming from the same area. Is this sounds like a problem with the shock or strut, or could it be something more serious. Accent LC (2000-05) :: Coolant Tank Filling But Not Draining Back Into Radiator

Having an issue with my 03' Accent. I'm having an issue of my coolant tank filling up but it is not being drawn back into the radiator when the engine cools down. I have replaced the radiator with a new unit because the filler neck of the original radiator was damaged sometime in the past and the cap would not seal good enough to hold pressure . Looks like heat damage to me but I don't know for sure. The system now holds pressure but now I'm having the current issue. My first thought was a head gasket issue creating pressure in the system and forcing coolant into the tank.

The car has 155k miles and runs good overall and is not overheating. I performed a "block check" test using the chemical method that detects combustion gasses in the cooling system and that test was negative. I also pressure tested the system by pressurizing to 16 psi and was unable to detect any leaks anywhere on the engine / radiator and the pressure did not drop until I released it. I guess the next thing to try will be a compression test to see if I have any low cylinders. So, for whatever reason my cooling system is not creating enough of a vacuum to draw the coolant back into the radiator when it cools down. Does this sound like a head gasket issue? The pic is of the original radiator filler neck damage.

Was driving down the highway and got a smell in the car, thought it might be diesal from the truck in front. When I got off and came to a stop, car would not accelerate at first, it hesitated and a puff of grey smoke came out of the back. Stopped for a few minutes everything seemed fine then the check engine light came on. I have managed to get it up with just a couple of rattles, but the check engine light is still on. Have I killed the car by driving it home. The light was not flashing it was completely on.

This problem has plagued me for a while(since last year). When I start the car in the morning, there's a brief period when the power steering is totally gone. When the car is thoroughly warmed up(after 2 minutes of driving), the power steering is back and there will be no problem. Wondering what could that be. The power steering fluid level is normal.
