2004 hyndia accent . Car starts drinking up oil like crazy, no smoke no leaks.
I added some oil one day, started to stall out. I had to jump start it. Ran for 5 minutes fine then huge white smelly smoke from exhaust. I haven't tried to start it since.
I recently bought a accent, changed the oil then upon starting it back up it just pours out white smoke from the exhaust. i might have put a little too much oil in, would that cause the issue? It didn't happen before the oil change either.
View 6 RepliesI know, sounds like blown head gasket. However oil looks fine, no coolant leaking and coolant looks fine. It also does not overheat (that I can see, it dies first). This all started a few weeks ago. I changed spark plugs, oil and undercoated the car with primer. I did get some paint on the radiator. I also put techron in the fuel tank and changed fuel filter. The car ran fine before, now here is what is happening step for step.
Car starts fine, idle is a bit rough (it was before too) but nothing drastic. I rev car at 2500 RPM until it is warm. The thermostat stays in the middle yet I begin to see a good amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. If I take foot off the accelerator the car will shut off at this point. If the car is not warm yet, it won't shut off. When it does shut off, I cannot restart it even with gas pedal down. It just cranks and cranks. When I let it cool down it starts up fine and the same thing occurs. I cannot tell if the radiator fans are turning on as the car dies before they turn on (it's cool outside). The thermostat never indicates overheating.
The entire radiator is smoking white (not from cap) but I assume that is from my paint overspray burning off. Could this be getting sucked in and stalling the car out when the car warms up enough to start burning off the paint? Could I have painted something inappropriate? What could this be? I know a decent amount about cars.
If I let the car warm up just by idling it will run until it gets warm then it stalls and again, won't start until it cools. It seems to keep running if I keep RPMS up but right when I take foot off accelerator when warm it shuts off.
My hyundai accent 2004 consumes fuel but does not bring out black smoke, what can i do?
View 15 RepliesI recently bought my new car through a family friend.2000 Hyundai accent auto owned by a 90yr old grandpa since new with only 45k on the clock. im used to driving a manual so I don't know if its just me not used to it but when I slow for a corner to say 15-20km/hr and accelerate out the transmission remains in 3rd gear unless I give it a really good prod then it changes to 2nd or 1st. the acceleration when It does this and stays in 3rd is ok but I just wonder if its normal or is it just burning out the torque converter. also im only getting about 380-400kms out of a tank when driving the same route my old 96 pulsar used to get 550kms from the same fuel. is this normal I would have thought this new car to be using if anything a little less.
View 1 RepliesI have a hyundai accent 2005 sedan (automatic transmission). The vehicle is a NON-US model. My gas consumption is approximately 7.3km per litre which is very high.
The spark plugs have been replaced , tires are at 30psi , and air filter is new. The spark plug cables are also new. The obdII device does not detect any issues and the engine check light is also off.
I recently changed my Hyundai Accent 2004 rings and top cylinder. a day after I left the mechanic garage, the car started bringing out white smokes particularly when I rev.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax diesel pickup. It has been blowing white smoke from the tail pipe and drinking coolant, 10 - 15 gallons since February. There are no obvious leaks of coolant under the truck. However, within the last 3 weeks it has on 4 occasions spewed coolant from the surge tank from the overflow vent. We have narrowed down the problem to either a headgasket leak or an injector leak.
We had it in to the dealership (big mistake) and they found nothing wrong. They think we either need to wait for something catastrophic to happen or do the head gasket and replace the heads. There is a technical service bulletin about the head gasket. There is anecdotal info from an article written by a master tech from GM about the injectors. We also know there is something about GM paying for the injectors and injector sleeves to be replaced if there is an issue like we have.
All the dealership is saying they did was drive around the truck and saw no coolant spewing forth and no smoke. They did see a lowering of coolant level in the surge tank. They also did another pressure test on the coolant system and found nothing. Outside temps and weather conditions have no effect on this situation unfortunately nor does the length of time it's driven. How much should a head gasket/head job cost? How much time should it take? Does it require removal of the cab? How much should an injector job cost? How much time should that take?
2000 Hyundai Accent with 180K. Runs and idles smoothly. When sitting for a few minutes at idle I get a waft of smoke when I accelerate. The car burns minimal ammount of oil and the smoke is not apparent while driving.

Today, at around 2AM (maybe 50 degrees C), within minutes of starting the car, we drove into a McDonald's Drive Thru. While I was ordering and pressing on the brakes, I noticed continuous discharge of white smoke/vapor from the exhaust. For maybe a minute this continued. When I moved the car a little bit to get closer to the window, the smoke stopped. But when I stopped again to receive my order, I saw the white smoke/vapor again. My friends who were with me told me that it might just be water vapor, but the hypochondriac in me wants to make sure this isn't a blown head gasket or anything else I've read about in the internet. BTW When I drove away from the Drive Thru and continued driving, I stopped seeing the white smoke/vapor.
I'm as clueless you can get with cars. Do I need to be worried?
I just purchased an '06 V10 a couple weeks ago. Today, I was about 11miles into my 15mile commute when I noticed A LOT of white smoke coming out of the back. The only time I'd seen smoke like that before was just before my old Ford Explorer caught fire. I immediately pulled over and took a look. White smoke (maybe steam?) was billowing out of the exhaust.
I say steam, because it didn't have the strong diesel smell I would've expected. I decided I couldn't sit there parked by the highway, so I got back in the car, checked warning lights and pulled out. Within 1/2 mile, it was gone. Nothing. No more problems the rest of the way. What this might have been? I have 1100 miles on the vehicle and this is the first time it's happened.
I have white smoke pouring out of my exhaust in my 2001 Jetta1.8t , it happens at idle and then a lot at acceleration. The smoke is white and everyone and a while it has a hint of blue. I don't know what is wrong but what do yall think could be happeneing?

View 7 RepliesI have a 64 Olds Cutlass. I drive it once a week or so. That means it sits most of the time. Lately it's been very damp and rainy. I've noticed that when I start the Olds up there is white smoke coming from the exhaust. This lasts about a minute or until the car warms up and I start driving. Then it disappears. Is this just condensation burning off or, I hope not, a blown head gasket? How can I tell the difference?
View 2 RepliesI started my car up this morning for work and I noticed it sounded a little different almost like a little more gurgle then usual. I walked behind the car and saw white smoke coming from the left exhaust. The smoke wasn't incredibly white like a cloud but was definitely noticeable i think it smelt like gas or oil I'm not sure (stuffy nose got me some allergies) . After about 10 ish seconds everything was back to normal. What could this be if anything? Hopefully nothing tho.

View 7 RepliesI was on 285 tonight in Atlanta and had a very hard time seeing because of all the white smoke. I thought some old GM car or Ford was billowing white smoke through the exhaust.
When I finally caught up to what was the cause I was shocked to see it was a Passat. A 2014 at that! 1.8 Turbo. I followed her into a Kroger Grocery store parking lot and parked as close as I could. She was unaware that her car was smoking out of her exhaust. I told her she needed to bring her car to the dealer asap and have them look at it. The white smoke was coming out of her exhaust even after she turned the motor off. She had no clue. I would say she was in her middle 70's age wise. It think she talked to me because I was in a Passat that "looked" like her car. Interesting to me to say the least. What could this possibly be?
OKay, so it's not that cold out here but my exhaust still puts out white smoke so it looks like it is winter time. I didn't blow some seals on my Turbo. And how to fix it?

View 3 RepliesI noticed that the RC was blowing out a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I peeked underneath the car and i hear what it sounds like droplets of water falling down. and then i go inside the car and i see an engine light(yellow triangle). I honestly don't know what it could be wrong right now.
The car only has 12k Miles.
