Accent LC (2000-05) :: Driver Side Floorboard Have Water Leakage
Nov 21, 2012
2003 Hyundai Accent 4 door. Well its been raining here in Portland Oregon non stop and this morning I went to get in my car and smelled a mildew odor so I took out the drivers floor mat and the carpet was soak. Then I laid back the carpet and that grey spongy covering thats under the pedals was soaked to the bone like a sponge.
I did a test with a water by putting the hose on top of the roof of the accent and turning it on full bore and nothing leaked in the car. I sat in their for a good 5 minutes with the hose blaring down the windshield and door sides. I even took a jack and lifted the car up too see if there was any cracks or a rusty hole underneath but nothing. So Im completely stumped on this I do have A/C and the drain hose is clear since I have been using my defrosters and the A/C pump kicks on.

I drive a 2000 Saturn LS1. My current problem is that every time I run the A/C for an extended period of time water soaks my driver's side front floorboard, with a little bit (but not much) making the passenger side floorboard damp. A friend who is a pretty decent mechanic told me my heater core was busted and causing the water leak, so we bypassed the heater core. The next time I ran the A/C for over two hours, the water came back. I'm 90% sure the actual cause of the water leak is my A/C drain being clogged. What can I do to fix it? Also, why does this happen only on long trips?

Wife was driving in heavy rain and noticed water dripping from above the parking brake.
When she got home took a quick look and noticed moisture around the fuse box that sits just above the parking brake.
Assume a seal somewhere is bad. Did some searching but only got hits for passenger side leaks and AC drain hose.
Next step is a trip to the dealer to diagnose.

We noticed that the driver side floorboard was soggy, so we removed the floor mat, propped the carpet up, and drained about an inch of water using the rubber plug. Well, it was left with the plug in and the carpet propped up over the weekend and, this morning, there's over an inch of water sitting on the metal.
I'm assuming it's coming from the sunroof drain but, although I was able to find the exit point for the drain, I couldn't find where the water actually enters said drain. Also, what's the best way to clear this issue?

Discovered a water leak on the A pillar driver's side (note right-hand drive)? We had a down pour today and my car has never exhibited this before. I got in my car today and noticed that there was a wet spot at the top and a wet spot under and to the side of the tweeter. This seemed to be quite soaked as pushing on it you could feel it was wet. I checked around the A-pillar and it goes up a little into the roof lining (about an 1/8th of the way on the top of the door ). Today , I heard a small gush of water, but that was about it. The car was on level ground. How do I take off the A-pillar so I can see if something has jammed up or something?

I can't seem to figure it out. I've been having a water leak in my gti. Here's the facts
-rear drivers side floor is soaked wet, nowhere else.
-I pulled up the carpet and carpet pad and wiped the floor dry.
- poured water in sunroof drains and didn't see any new moisture, water ran out of the drains on all 4 corners.

My 2000 celica is leaking engine oil from the rear of the motor on the driver side ( passenger side for the U.S). the oil drips are quite insignificant at the moment with only a small amount leaking on the garage floor, but a leak is a leak and i want it fixed. ive tried my hardest to find the source of the leak but i just cant squeeze my head in well enough to see where it is coming from as the engine bay with the 2zz motor is pretty tight! the car only has 116k KMS on the clock (72k MILES) and is regularly serviced so it doesn't make that a seal is on its way out already, but from the area that ive isolated it to, it looks like its the crank pulley or seal....

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4X4 Limited edition with a sunroof. Last year, after a hard rain, I went out to my car to find about 3 inches of water in the passenger side floorboard. I immediately took it to the Jeep Dealer, who told me that the sunroof was simply clogged with debris. They cleared out the channels and all the debris and said I would be good to go. Not so much. It's a year later and after checking the heating coils, weather stripping, windshield, windows, etc, etc... It STILL FLOODS! The water comes ONLY through the screw that holds the sun visor in the roof. The roof of the car never gets wet. I have taken it to several body shops other that then Jeep dealer and no one has any clue. I now keep microfiber towels and a shop vac in my car at all times. I'm worried about the damage this will do to my car eventually, particularly in terms of the electrical parts of the car.

I have a 1996 Buick Le Sabre. There is a bad water leak onto the passenger side back floorboard. I have taken it to the dealer and two repair shops. They are stumped. A hard Florida rain can get 2 inches of water on the floor. Tried re-gluing the rubber seal. That did not work.

I have a 99 F-250 Super Duty 4WD and here lately when it rains a lot I have a lot of water getting in on the passenger side floorboard coming from somewhere under the right front under the dash. I have looked under the cowling and don't think it is from there. I heard of someone having water funnel in from the 3rd brake light gasket and I did replace that because it had some leakage but after last nights heavy rain it has soaked my carpet again. Once i dried it I drove it and lots of water came from somewhere and completely soaked a bath towel. It may be from the heater blower area and filling up the box under the dash till it runs out???

I drive a 2005 Accent. Approximately a few months ago, I noticed water leaking in the passenger floor and near the kick plate. So I soaked up the water and put a bit of foil over the right side of the windshield, directly on the cowl cover. That seemed to do the trick. I then removed it the next day when the rain stopped. A few days later it rained again, but this time, there was no leak. It rained off-and-on for weeks and the leak never came back. Recently we've had some heavy rain, and the leak has returned.
What could be causing this, especially since the leak only seems to happen in heavy rain? I'd like to take the cowl cover off and look at the fresh air intake, but I snapped off one of those plastic rivets that holds it down, and I don't know where to buy replacements.

I bought my wife a 1999 F250 SD a few weeks ago and we both are loving it, but a few days ago she noticed water in the passenger side floorboard. We've been having a ton of rain lately, so much that I think I saw a big boat with a bunch of animals floating in my backyard yesterday. Seriously though, normally I'd assume that the heater core was leaking, but this was just water, no antifreeze. Obviously the water is from a leak somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me. I sat in the truck in a pouring rain and didn't find a leak anywhere. The carpet is wettest around the area where the door sill trim meets the kick panel, however she said she had seen a few drops of water standing on the top of the floor mat.

We have had significant flooding in Oregon and my truck started to smell inside, like rotten milk. Now, I don't drink glorified coffee's or drink milk or milk chocolate . So while investigating this odor I pulled up the side floorboards with the little gripy circles, exists between the side of the seat and the door. On the passenger side and the carpet was pretty wet and the trough area was full of water. It looks like it dissipates towards the passenger back door. Where this water could come from? There are no visible signs from the door seal (it looks good). This is a F350 2000 Lariat Crew Cab.

I feel a new thumping on my left foot as it rests on the floor of on the driver's side. It seems to happen mostly when I'm turning the steering wheel, particularly right, and is most prevalent when the car is cold and going in reverse, though it will thump when turning the to the right and when it's warmer--just to a lesser extent. I have also felt the thump in the gas and brake pedal. It seems to happen less/not at all when I'm going more than 40 mph. The car has 81k miles on it. 2006 Volvo XC70...

Whenever I cut the wheel to the left, there is a fairly loud knocking/grinding noise that I can feel through the floorboard.
Brakes have already been replaced, ball joints and tie rods inspected - no problems. Front end was greased (exception to the zirc fitting on the very top of the steering linkage). There is no modifications to the suspension (no lift) and the tires are the standard size (no rubbing in the wheel well). I do not know how long it has been since the shocks/struts were replaced but after inspection they seem to be in OK shape.
I read on this site that some owners were noticing a knocking under their floorboards too because of worn "body mounts". However, the body mounts are directly under the pedals. I don't feel any grinding or knocking under the pedals. It feels like its directly under the floorboard in front of the seat.
Could the body mounts be the issue when turning the wheel or is this something more sinister?
If its the body mount, it would be great if someone could post pics of the procedure. I have some pics that were posted from before but where to look on the underside of the truck to find the bolt/nut etc and where I put the floor jack and how high to raise the body...

My driver side floorboard is leaking something. I am not sure what this could be. There is a huge stain that looks like a burn almost, and around the hole is a brown stain that keeps getting bigger. I lift up my floor mat and it is soaked. Could this be my air conditioner leaking or could it be something more serious? 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES....

A couple of weeks ago I started hearing this rattling/thumping coming from under the driver's side floorboard when the car is started. Almost sounds like a loose exhaust pipe. You can hear just little rattling under idle but it goes away (or you can't hear it) while driving.
Both shops (Pep Boys and dealer) told me it's quite expensive to replace. I just started looking around and I do see aftermarket cats for a few hundred. How hard can this replacement be for the average driveway mechanic?

Just picked up an 01 Excursion V10 for $2900 with 170k on the odometer. Has some damage on the left quarter panel, but it runs perfectly.
Since I bought it, there has been a squeaking noise that I could feel underneath the driver's side floorboard. I figured it was body mounts. To find out if that was the case, I first sprayed both the sway bar bushings and the body mounts with some oil. The noise went away, but came back the next day.
The second time, I sprayed only the body mounts, and again the noise went away, only to return again. Aside from which, the sway bar bushings look like they were installed very recently.
So, it's the body mounts, but I've come across threads here and elsewhere that these were a common issue, but I haven't seen a fix for them. I assume new mounts would eventually develop the same noise.
What am I looking at here? Just some new mounts or do I need to do something else?

There is no solenoid on the drivers door just an energising switch so a remote system, without modifications, will not open the drivers door.
To get it to work you would need to source & fit a solenoid into the drivers door, wire it, then wire in the remote locking box for the remote function - complicated for the average person and expensive otherwise.

I have a 98 Toyota Rav4 4cyl auto. Started to leak water from somewhere into the passenger side floor when it rains. Started out only leaking during heavy/fast rain, but now almost every time. Thought it was the sunroof drain overflow, but no water on the seat cushion, and I reamed both drain tubes out with a stiff wire all the way to the ground and confirmed water runs out the properly. Now I think it's something in the firewall, like maybe the vent air? Tried taking the screen off the cowl and looking down into what I presume are the vent ducts, but didn't find any drain rail. How to fix this? Do I need to take the dash apart?

My driver side brake light is not working. I noticed it yesterday after changing my front brake pads. The bulb won't light up. I changed the bulb and didn't fix it. I checked fuses and all were good. The running light and turn signal both work on the tail light and the passenger tail light is fine and everything works on it. A couple hours after I noticed the driver side tail brake light wasn't working the hatch brake light went out. Not sure if it was just bad timing for the bulb to go out or not. I think I may just need to get a new wire harness for it. Not sure.
